I've lived in Mexico. Paul's right. Poor Mexicans largely want to come to the U.S. to get free federal welfare s***. We need to end the welfare state, but allow more legal immigration.

If you want to seal the border and think that we can be protectionist isolationists, and pretend that all that labor isn't out there then the late 1800's, not 2012, are for you.

You also forget that once they are legal, immigrants do NOT accept dirt-low wages. It's illegals who do.

I don't think the U.S. should be knee-deep in other countries' business, but it would be better to spend money helping Mexico improve than killing Muslims thousands of miles away. That would do more to stop the flow of illegals than almost anything else.

@dorksayswhat Not exactly sure what you are saying - are you saying it is good that illegals work for cheap? Or are you contending that they screw legal workers out of jobs because they work for cheap? I would say the latter. I know if there was no "cheap labor" then certain products and services would go up in price, but the free market has a way of leveling itself out and prices would ultimately direct the resources where they are needed most. Sealing the border would be best

I would rather Ron Paul say... (if you need cheap labor then move your factory to where cheap labor is! We are not importing cheap labor. Because we a taxpayers end up subsidizing everything else for those cheap laborers)

What I love about Ron Paul is he gives such straight forward answers and sounds not at all like a politician, but instead like an American who is experienced and well-versed in all of these important issues. I just do not understand how he can have the beliefs he has on Iran. However, I know that it is God, not the president of the United States, who keeps the world turning, so I can support Ron Paul because I agree with 90% of what he believes.

@jdm89s13 Iran is too far gone into the nuclear weapon development process, and too deep in friendship with Russia and China for us to really do anything serious about it. Don't forget our gargantuan crippling debt, and that attacking Iran would cause gas prices to soar, killing our economy. Those who tell you we can afford to attack Iran are lying or morons. Israel also has 300 nukes and advanced missile defense systems.

Plus, in the end, Iran wants to live. They are not suicidal.

@Tezcatlepocatl That is the best argument I have heard yet as far as Iran goes. I don't disagree with Ron Paul in that we should not be policing the world - I could not agree more. The trouble mainly is when I heard him say that Iran is only trying to protect itself when it is clear that Ahmadinejad is a lunatic. His judgement on that issue is what scares me. However, like I said, I agree with 90% of his philosophy and it is God, not the POTUS, who keeps the world going round.
