  • @Dangazm

so you are going to tell me that SRV sucks?

    kill yourself.

  • ron you are a master and yes you still can't play the blues.

  • Tosin abasi with bumblefoot would be crazy as fuck.

  • Futuristic blues

  • 30k views.. fucking shameful..

  • How exactly do the blues suck?

  • The song is metacommentary making fun of shredders, but IMO Bumblefoot really can't play the blues... he can play pretty much everything else though :P

  • fckn awesoooom

  • Great song.

  • There is much sarcasm and humor in this song.. the lyrics are really what's being showcased here IMO. The entire main riff is a joke picking on shredders. Ron shows he is different at the very end of the song by playing something more blues like than the rest of the shredders he's made fun of the entire song.. My favorite part of Ron's albums are his lyrics. I own all of his albums, and though the guitar playing is stellar I find his song writing unique.

  • @aaroniusk he's not making fun of shredders. He's making fun of people that think that way about shredding. That's some meta-sarcasm right there. The blues sucks.

  • @Dangazm I've been a bumblefoot fan for years and years and after reading several interviews it's my opinion that Ron scoffs at most shredders. Ron is actually a really great blues guitarist among other styles... Like the great anti-painters of the 1940s.. Ron has composed an anti-shred tune here. (and yes, crappy shredders that use the same moves all the time.)

  • @aaroniusk I agree- he's so excellent at guitar that it lets him use that to create music that others couldn't, but there're no shortage of people who get the practice in but seem to really get stuck without much musicality.

  • @Dangazm He is making fun or shredders AND blues purists, because he shreds the blues scaled to piss off all the blues purists. But yeah, you're right about the blues sucking.

  • @Dangazm shred = awesome. Blues = awesome. You = Not cultured.

  • Hey, everybody! Peace. We all have our own tastes in music. Sometimes they intersect or not. There are only 24 hours in a day. No doubt, this guy is a great player. Take Care!

  • Yet he's playing an insane blues lick like it's no problem.

  • @o0Slipdisc0o **** I have listened to many shredder types over the years at the suggestion of friends or other guitar players I know and except for maybe Steve Morse, I am always disappointed. If you want to do Technical studies 16 hours a day, go right ahead.

  • @o0Slipdisc0o **** BTW, I am not a purist, but do have a strong preference for the classic rock sound, which is largely blues-based but it is not the only music I like and no I am not the Mayor Bluestown as some guys will cut my head off.

For example,, I loved EVH on the first 5 VH LPs and Randy Rhoads, but guys like Vai/Satriani just don't do it for me.

  • @johnloiud actually satriani has a lot of blues and he's not a shredder at all. He barely uses alternate picking or sweep picking or anything like that. It's just a clichè that people refers to vai and satriani when talking about shredders...

  • @o0Slipdisc0o **** BTW, I am not a purist, but do have a strong preference for the classic rock sound, which is largely blues-based but it is not the only music I like and no I am not the Mayor Bluestown as some guys will cut my head off.

  • @o0Slipdisc0o **** No, I am not familiar with his material at all as someone had forwarded the video to me and I just don't have the time to research it. I was once a metal-head (late 70s/early 80s) and my tastes changed and yes I can appreciate lightning fast guitar work when it sounds good (ex. Daryl Steurmer on Enigmatic Ocean). Maybe he is a great blues player, but this particlular song does not showcase it IMO. Shredders bore the hell out of me!...........

  • ahhh.. and he can play the blues lol

  • If this message could be sent to all the people today, music would be way better.

Just read the lyrics, it has a very very deep meaining :))

  • Cool. As. Fuck. The dude is a one in a million.

  • Seventh notes in the main riff O.O so frickin hard to figure out. Have to love it though

  • Without a doubt, this guy is a great shredder w/ otherworldy technique. However,

I believe him when he sings 'I can't play the blues'. Guys like this usually aren't very good at the blues, but that's alright, unless you love the blues.

  • @johnloiud of course he can play the blues

  • @johnloiud - The end lead break = great blues. I do believe there is no style this man can't play to at least a very good standard. Rock, rap, opera, you name it, this guy has recorded it.

  • @johnloiud In this song Ron makes fun of both egocentric virtuosos as well as people who go around claiming how only slow or blues based music has an emotional quality. By shredding through a blues framework. The shredding symbolizing the egomaniacs (shredders) and to annoy the fuck out of stuck up blues purists. He basically pisses over people like you.... 1/2

  • @johnloiud People who can't understand that emotion is a subjective internal experience, who can't see speed as the valid avenue of expression, that it is (also in blues). It's clear you haven't even heard an iota of a fraction of this man's discography. Otherwise you would have known that, next to almost every other genre, Ron is a great blues player. No, you are too busy acting like the self proclaimed extremely biased mayor of Bluestown... (2/2)

  • @johnloiud The best blues (even better, `blues rock') players are overweight, pasty, middle aged guys with moustaches

  • shredders should be like rappers: they should wear dollar textured dresses, drink expensive shit and lick models' pussies in their videos so they will have a huge audience, sadly.

  • I like his blues solo at the end.

  • j'adore la manière dont il ne sait pas jouer le blues!!!

  • Sarcastic shred blues metal rap? I think so!

  • WoW is this for real ?!!!!

  • Ouch, my fingers...This riff is hard.

  • It pretty much sucks, though the lyrics show good intentions.

  • @terrythecensor LOL, if you think that way, go see the Jonas Brothers videos! Whats wrong with people!!?!?!?!?

  • @Rocker666rekcoR Aaaahhh! Not that!

  • @terrythecensor Thanks Captain Music!

  • this is great... ireally dig this

  • Does Humor Belong in Rock?

  • @roger42homunculus Yes. Nuff said.

  • it's brilliant the way the in-between verse solos get more bluesy until the actual blues solo at the end.

  • He can't play the blues?! 2:53

  • Isn't the story behind this that a guitar magazine had written an album review on Ron slating him.

Saying he has technique but he can't play the blues?

Man, people who write those magazines are mostly confused, burnt out musicians. I'm looking at you guitar one, total guitar, guitarist.

Besides Guitar Techniques, which is of course, awesome.

  • BAHAHAHA Yngwie Malmsteen spoof \m/

  • Not my style, but this is awesome!!!

  • Bullshit, you can't play the blues! XD You SO can play the blues! XD

  • @BluesBurner Dude...that's kind of the point of the song. It's a total mock of shredders. Ya can't take BBFs music without a sense of humor.

  • @BluesBurner

    "Or guitar in general"

    You're a muppet.

  • hey, 2:56! he can play the blues!

  • luv it...unique!

  • I like how this makes fun of NPS trackers and bluestards at the same time.

    It's a beautiful thing.

  • god this funny

  • 2:21 is lol and the rest is just great.

  • actually funny and bizarre xD

  • Probably my favorite guitarist. I'd like to hear Ron Thal, Buckethead, Danny Carey, Les Claypool and Mike Patton make some kinda super group

  • I think he and buckethead would clash, unfortunately. He doesn't need buckethead. He needs a flamenco player to back him up. Now that would be ridiculous.

  • I nominate Joey Eppard

  • ron thal & paco de lucia..

now that would be insane! :p

  • @ericgenocidex2 I think the white house would explode after that...

  • You and I think alike.

Buckethead and Patton have bumped musical shoulders but I want a moonraker reunion with the aforementioned artists in your post involved.

  • Well, I mean think about it... Claypool and Danny Carey worked together on a couple of tracks from Adrian Belew's solo cd, Mr. Bungle has toured with Primus, Les has recorded several times with Buckethead... For the most part we're not talking about total strangers here. Mr. Thal might need an introduction, but I can picture them all falling into place well together

  • "Came in the male"

you might wanna work on your spelling there, haha.

  • this is really great, it's about time someone in shred didn't take themselves seriously

  • I think you missed the point.

  • Only half of it :P

  • haha male. thats just gross

  • hey dudes see my shred vid

  • Best part: 2:05

    ^_^

  • LOL... great lyrics.

  • I always thought he said "Ninjabread man" and so now I know he doesn't I am totally fucking copywriting that!

  • What a trip!! Now I'm convinced...

  • this song is just awesome. everything about it is irresistable

  • Ron is hilarious.

  • This gets 1,000 views and the Jonas brothers have 55 million, Fuck that.

  • jonas brothers? who they?

  • wtf are the jonas brothers.

  • fuck disney

  • Comment removed

  • @Poizon67 il make this video go up to a million considering how much i listen to it xD

  • who's the medium sized daddy now?

  • Such impressive guitar playing, Also, What a great concept for a song.

  • his albums are so awesome! The lyrics to 'Chair Ass' are genius too :D

  • Ron...dude this put a serious smile on my face, you could be the new Frank Zappa dude, dont give up,my friend Randy met you at the NAMM show a few years and turned me onto to you, gret stuff man, keep it up

  • Not just the way he is, he kinda looks like him too. I first noticed it in the "Real" video.

  • Well...the GNR Album Chinese Democracy, featuring 4 Ron Thal solos and his guitar on every track is two days away from the release now. Finally some recognition for one of the best guitarist out there.

  • @metalzboy I don't see why people say It's the new Frank Zappa I've listen a little at FZ and it's completely different, differents styles, different sounds, different music... I don't hear the link between the both

    somebody could explain me ??

  • @NAThan9871 - This particular tune sound nothing like Zappa. But listen to lost, and various other tunes by Ron, theres a very definate resemblace. Not that he is a clone, the variety of his arsenal is huge and all brilliant. rage against the machine, Tom Jones, Red hot chile peppers, it's all there. Ron truely is a master of diversity.

  • @metalzboy To every one debating the whole Bumblefoot/Zappa thing

Frank Zappa has been my favorite musician since i was 9 I own over 40 of his albums

Bumblefoot is in no way going to become the new Zappa and i'm sure Ron would disagree greatly with this statement.

Ron is VERY tallented but in a different way.

But. this song (I can't play the Blues) Could in fact fit on one of Zappa latter works

Say Broadway the hardway or them or Us with Steve Vai on Stunt guitar.

  • @TheKeswickGallagher

haha eh....should we get in to this discussion or should we start whom has better technique ;-P

just let them be brilliant both of them
