Facts seem to be all over the place here. Steel is flexy/comfy and lasts forever, Reynolds have been making the tubes (google '531') for bike frames since the 30's, not the 60's. Also, I believe carbon fibre is quite flexy, not as flexy as steel but considerably more so than aluminium, titanium is almost too flexy. Alu it has a shorter life, it goes brittle over time, I think carbon loses its tensile strength. Steel doesn't change.

Carbon or Carbon Fiber does the job. Steel is just too heavy for me. And Carbon is just as durable as steel.
Aluminum is light, but no where near the durability to steel or carbon.

Carbon FIbre is light and stiff but is very brittle.

He goes on about steel being a nicer ride than carbon but really the main thing that makes the difference is the design of the frame tubes etc.
