  • Sorry to burst you bubble but its anything but hi-tech. See what china, korea, germany, spain, france and russia are doing.

Common' America you can do better than this!!

  • Old line or not, In the UK the bridge would be replaced quickly and we have 125mph speed limits on Victorian era tracks and yes they have level crossings, share tracks with freight and din't have billions spent on them. Still nice vid. And before anyone says anything we do have 186mph tracks too.

  • Can you say highballing... lol

  • On December 24,2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Jackson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter.if you don't repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight

  • there starting to build a hige speed rail system that goes all over the country

  • What was that, high speed 40 mph ?

  • I've read the news release at the Amtrak website, in 2013, there going to replace the electrical system, such as the overhead lines, transformers, substation and other equipment, to improve the energy for the train, and also replace the railroad ties, and also make trains go faster than before, the reason Acela is slow because the track that the Acela uses has been there since WWII.

  • yea..acela can go 200

  • Not very fast there

  • I agree

  • Looks like a slow TGV...

  • The reason the Acela can not reach peak speed is because the train lines in America are shared unlike Taiwan's HSR and Japan's HSR and Germany's ICE.

  • That's not the reason at all. The reason is due to the lines being poorly designed for high speed train travel (as they were designed long before high speed trains existed). In order to take advantage of the Acela's maximum operating speed, the NE Corridor would need to be completely redesigned (straighter) and track laid without level crossings via billions in government funding (that will never happen).

  • dang i really wish you were wrong but the current state, never gonna happen.

  • @prorobo

But you forgot that there is still talk about upgrading it.

  • @prorobo not true, it was but the lines weren't maintained and the railroad companies either died off or went in another direction

  • In MSTS the acela reaches 170 mph!!!

  • An Acela CANNOT DO 186MPH (300km/h)!!

    ACELA 0-1 TGV

    U lose!!!

    p.s nice 1 Surf951

  • I think u have uploaded the wrong video or encountered a typing error. V-.

  • Yes it CAN but it does not do that on tracks since they are not flat enough.

  • In other words because the tracks are shit.

  • It's not going even close to it's highest speed in this video...

  • Total crap compared to the TGV in France and Maglev in Japan.

  • do you happen to have a website for the manufacture up there?

  • You know, although the Acela has the power to travel at 150 mph, it can't really, because it would eventually ram into Regional trains and NJ Transits up ahead. Also, think about how long it would take the Acela to slow down.

  • it looks completely obsolete compared to the japanese bullet trains

  • yes, it's pretty slow. it only goes it's maximum speed of 200 km/h for like 20 minutes, then goes "Amtrak Slow" (much slower than driving) for the rest of the route.

  • Wrong. The maximum speed of the Acela is 200mph (MILES per hour) but it is restricted to 150 due to horribly, awful old track on the NE Corridor.

  • You might want to check your sources (read: check your sources, wikipedia is not a source), there is a difference between maximum speed and maximum designed operating speed.

  • one day..... one day....

  • Acela in Mansfield train station in Mass is the fastest spot on the line(140-150mph). Check out the videos from there.

  • Too slow!!!

  • You are right, too slow. As I mentioned previously, the train is going over a very old bridge and must throttle down.

  • Ah, ok! Why didn't make a new bridge?

  • Brideges are extremely expensive.

  • Yes, I know, but sometimes it's wherewithal. If you watch my videos you can see some italians very fast trains at work!!!

  • I believe there are plans to improve this bridge.

  • Well! I love fast trains!! Acela is a diesel power engine?

  • I remember, this year and last year I was at a train station in New Jersey and was waiting for the train so I could go to New York City, and the thing flew by. It was so cool. You saw a blur, heard lots of wind, and felt all the wind and your hair fly back!

  • Slow as hell

  • it was slowed down as it went through Milford and over the old bridge..

  • I remember that , I was in edison NJ station, 1 flew past and i thought there was an earthquake, it shook th station

  • haha. I remember I was at NJ riding NJ transit, waiting to go to New York. One of those fuckers flew by, scared the crap out of me.

  • Why so slow?

  • Reason for slowed speed through Milford has to do with the old train bridge. Guess it can't take to much on the ole gal.
