For some reason someone calls things something they aren't, I'm sorry but at maximum operating speed of 150mph no matter if it is the fastest train in USA or not I would never class it as a high speed train. It is just faster than usual and it is close but unfortunately it isn't HSR as it is below 160mph. It is Express Train not High Speed train :p
Old line or not, In the UK the bridge would be replaced quickly and we have 125mph speed limits on Victorian era tracks and yes they have level crossings, share tracks with freight and din't have billions spent on them. Still nice vid. And before anyone says anything we do have 186mph tracks too.
On December 24,2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Jackson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter.if you don't repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight
I've read the news release at the Amtrak website, in 2013, there going to replace the electrical system, such as the overhead lines, transformers, substation and other equipment, to improve the energy for the train, and also replace the railroad ties, and also make trains go faster than before, the reason Acela is slow because the track that the Acela uses has been there since WWII.
That's not the reason at all. The reason is due to the lines being poorly designed for high speed train travel (as they were designed long before high speed trains existed). In order to take advantage of the Acela's maximum operating speed, the NE Corridor would need to be completely redesigned (straighter) and track laid without level crossings via billions in government funding (that will never happen).
You know, although the Acela has the power to travel at 150 mph, it can't really, because it would eventually ram into Regional trains and NJ Transits up ahead. Also, think about how long it would take the Acela to slow down.
yes, it's pretty slow. it only goes it's maximum speed of 200 km/h for like 20 minutes, then goes "Amtrak Slow" (much slower than driving) for the rest of the route.
You might want to check your sources (read: check your sources, wikipedia is not a source), there is a difference between maximum speed and maximum designed operating speed.
I remember, this year and last year I was at a train station in New Jersey and was waiting for the train so I could go to New York City, and the thing flew by. It was so cool. You saw a blur, heard lots of wind, and felt all the wind and your hair fly back!

When a man walks into the train horizontally, it is like an erect penis going into the other man's anal hole.

Looks like a slow TGV...

The reason the Acela can not reach peak speed is because the train lines in America are shared unlike Taiwan's HSR and Japan's HSR and Germany's ICE.

@prorobo
But you forgot that there is still talk about upgrading it.

@prorobo not true, it was but the lines weren't maintained and the railroad companies either died off or went in another direction

Yes it CAN but it does not do that on tracks since they are not flat enough.

In other words because the tracks are shit.

Wrong. The maximum speed of the Acela is 200mph (MILES per hour) but it is restricted to 150 due to horribly, awful old track on the NE Corridor.

Acela in Mansfield train station in Mass is the fastest spot on the line(140-150mph). Check out the videos from there.

Too slow!!!
Superplebeo 3 years ago
You are right, too slow. As I mentioned previously, the train is going over a very old bridge and must throttle down.
goodneighborlawn 3 years ago
Ah, ok! Why didn't make a new bridge?

Why so slow?
hippy4lippy 4 years ago
Reason for slowed speed through Milford has to do with the old train bridge. Guess it can't take to much on the ole gal.
