  • Great vid

That dude sure knows how to ride a bike, the driver was pretty quick too.

  • this video is not about car vs bike kids so u can ur story bout the price or some sh1t to ur self

  • An outstanding posting. Always a pleasure, never a bore. Erm... However.. Just a tad frustrating to hear the R1 make a noise like mmmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm when it should be aaarrrrr, aaaarrrr and iiiiiiiiiiiiii,iiiiiiiiii,iiiiiiiiiii...... But that'll be the biker in me.... Blackbird and SP1.... ;0)

  • That westfield/caterham is awesome, and that's from a fellow R1 rider. Mind you, bet it cost twice as much than the bike :-)

  • They didn't gun it on the straight away. what the fuck?

  • wait it said it was 90 outside when they filmed...how the fuck are the tires cold?

  • them caterham type cars are awesome.

i was goin round a hair pin at 80, and a caterham went round the outside of me!

i cant c how its possible, but it happened

  • this is a long track to learn

  • UNREAL. 4:52 wheely is SICK. I love pushing the limits on my own level & sport, but shit! This is NUTS.

  • I remember downloading these videos off of Joerund's site back in the day. I thought his riding was the most awesome thing ever (especially the videos where he goes on a full-speed attack).

Always wanted a bike after that, couldn't afford one back then but got one now.

Back then, only after I'd watched several of the videos I read on another site that he'd just been killed on the Ring on his new GSX-R1000.

    RIP.

  • Before Youtube, there was Joerund Seim.

He brought the masses great videos of Nurburgriung for thier enjoyment.

This is a video of his R1.

He went to a different bike and was killed when a car oiled down the track causing him to crash.

RIP Joerund....you are missed by many.

  • you just need to supercharger that Caterham then it would really rock

  • @Karl21836 LOOKS LIKE A CATERHAM DOESNT IT?!

  • Gives a good feel for the place

  • Dump the passenger outta the car, then see the disadvantage in acceleration diminish.

  • @batvette Yeah, and if the car is going to drive the ideal line what it supposed to do but does'nt now!!

    *cough* bad driver *cough*

  • one more thing... there´s no R7 in the world!!! (unless yamaha had produced on of those just yesterday) the only R bikes that yamaha produces are the R6 (600cc engine) and the R1 (1000cc engine)

  • yes there is a r7 was made the register it for the wsb. had lots of good components on it but not a lot of power as had to be sold in europe(100bhp i think)

  • Dude, there are Yamaha R7s. They produced them from 1999-2002. They were a limited release of a about 500 units per year and were designed to compete in the Superbike World Championship and the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance races. The 2002 model was 749ccs

  • no they dont they did make an r7 it was a 750 and they only made a few of them thats why they are so rare and expensive and never heard of

  • you are thinking of the YZF750 EXUP, its an earliest model, the R7 doesn in fact exist, only a hadnfull made it on to the road and i doubt they get used for sunday scratching some how.

  • willing to bet on that??? its so funny you comment with such strong opinions and obviously you did not search for an R7 on google or wikipedia. Then you would have seen that an R7 does exist... but if you are content with beeing an ignorant fool.... thats ok!

  • man R7 exist...just search for this.... it was for the WSB when 4 cylinder bikes were 75o cc

  • ive seen one in the flesh, they exist trust me.

  • all you morons got to know it is a R1, i have one of those myself, you assholes, it´s a "1" right there in the tacometer (it´s not a clock) it shows the rpm your bike is developing at the time you shift between gears, the speed is displayed on the digital meter at the left side, ......and it´s not called R "1" just cuz it might sound cool, the "1" means 1000, cause it has a 1000 cc engine (cc: cubic centimeters), got that assholes!!!?

  • jeez dude no need to get all pissy about it.

  • I think they are talking about the R7 yamaha made actually

  • I think the car is like a caterham. You can buy these things in one piece or as a kit car and I think Westfield is one of those kit car producers

  • it's a R1 the 1 is an outline of a number 1.

  • can anyone just go on that ring?

  • YES! AWESOME!

  • On tourist days yup!

  • yea anybody can go around you just have to pay for your lap, i can't remember how much tho.

  • yeah you pay abit to do it though

  • 1 lap = 23 euro

    4 laps = 76 euro

    8 laps= 146 euro

(for a motorcycle, i dont know the prices for a car)

  • it's a R1...the "1" it's a white bold character...

  • good vid. would have been more fair if the car only had the one passenger...

  • wheel staqnd at 8:17? haha

  • this is definately an R7. it says so on the clock....it was produced between 1999 and 2001...only 500 were made. I would love to have one:P

  • It's a 1 you moron.

  • look at 0:09.... its clear that it is an R7. But if its its too hard for u to read dont even bother to comment then.... moron:S

  • IT'S A 1

IT EVEN SAYS AT 0:03 IT'S AN R1

    SERIOUSLY... omg.

  • and you believe the text that is edetit in a video programm over the the text on the clock on the bike....

you probably think that an r7 doesnt excist.... but dont be ignorant

  • No, I know an R7 exists.

It was a top spec bike with all the best components.

But this bike in this video is not an R7. You just can't read a 1.

  • omg... just read what it says on the clock on the bike.... next to the R it says 7.... that is definately not a 1.... of course it could be that he changed the background but that is unlikely

  • ......IT'S A 1! JESUS!

IT SAYS R1 TWICE IN THE VIDEO AND IT SAYS R1 ON THE CLOCKS.

omg like banging my head against a brick wall, so just forget about it. this is an r1, end of story.

  • please tell me on wich point in the video you see R1 on the clock.... maybe it is because you bang your head against the wall that you cant see proper any more..... without a doubt... its says R7.... pause at 0:08 ... clearly R7

  • ITS A 7 U STUPID MORON

  • Comment removed

  • the rider is not even taking it to the red line???

  • The bike rider joerund was killed on the track in 2002 or 2003 on gixxer k2, he made many great videos from nürburring

  • Great stuff!

  • hmmm i think its a R7 and not an R1...other then that error:) great skills

  • yep cause yamaha r7s makes any sense

  • Are you not familiar with the r7?

  • it says r1 on the clock m8. r7 was newer than 1999 i think

  • holy shit, you was almost horizontal thru that banked corner at 5.57

  • the caterham coulda taken alot of those corners faster

  • awesome run by both! damn i want it to NOT be winter outside so i can go drive around :/

  • No bike can out run a car on the twisty roads... comes to simple tire contact patch size, more in a car.

  • Iv riden my zx6r round the ring & its the muts nuts, no words can say the rush of the ring, its true cars are faster in2 the bends, bikes are faster out, as long as u dont hightside, this cossie powered car is dam fast, & the bloke on the R1 is fast & playing around, he can go faster, but if u crash then u have 2 pay 4 the damage u cause, apart from that, if u havent been to the ring then dont coment on the rider or the driver cos they are fast. Iv been got the t-shirt & the shit stained boxers.

  • Damn it...makes me wish it was warmer so I could go and rag the f*ck out of my bike!!! :(

  • cars are faster but bikes are more fun. also to get the same performance as a 10k sports bike, you need to spend 100 on a car...

  • good vid. Great riding and driving there. This car is not really fast enaugh to compete against a fast bike on the faster parts of this track thaugh but its shows well the difference in where bikes are cars perform better than each other in some cases.

  • great ride !!! very brave but the car its obviously much faster ...

  • i envy all these bitchs who get ride there like whenever they feel like it.

  • God Damn fine riding: Jesus, this rocks.

  • excellent riding mate, well done.

to all you pussys who saying the rider has no balls, if you just crawled out your vauxhall nova and think your stirling moss lol. lot different on a bike, i ride a bike, not a R1 only a bandit 600 and I am fast. faster on the bends than a lot of sports bike riders on my commuter bike, and that was good riding.

:-p only way u comment on riding is by posting link to ur vid saying this is how i do it better.

  • lol is da bird crap on da windscreen?

  • nice driving skills....

  • plonk that bike in 1st and rev it! the biker could have easily beaten the westfield, an r1 will do 100mph in 1st!!!! looked to me like the rider was either not trying or didn't have the balls, though who can blame them?? not me

  • Do you actually bother to read the other posts before posting ignorant crap? Read the posts at the beginning and you may learn something. The rider and the occupants of the car were friends. The bike was used to film footage of the car. What else could stay with the car. it was not a race. just a 8/10ths demo. Get it?

  • check out ghostrider 5 on the nuringburg ring. He would have made the car look like it had stoped. On a fast track i dont think the car has enough power to compete. Just makes it up in tight corners but someone like ghostrider would put this car to shame.

  • had this been a race i think the biker would have won, cracking video though, nice one

  • I see bird shit on the cam.

  • a stock!!!!! theres no way that these things should be street legal...just kidding there awesome! but im not buying one..i see videos of guys getting up to 200 mph in just under 10 seconds....thats crazy....

  • I believe that would be 200km/h not mph.

  • lol youre a pussy! go back to momas place...

  • fucking idiot as if you could do better

  • cool ive raced on this course, virtually of course.gran yurismo anyone

  • No, actually I prefer reality.

  • Respect!!! some serious nuts on da bike, if this person is not a racer thats some good hard riding

  • "Bike following car at Nurburgring?" Yes it was.

  • Looked like the bike had alot more to give than the rider was willing, but i know i wouldn't have the balls. R1's are stupidly quick. Cranked right over in the corners tho, every respect to the rider.

  • was this just to film the car as the bike looked to be holding back on the straights?

sweet drving on the bends tho

    well done

  • I think the biker shit himself @ 4:51 lol.

    Awesome.

  • Some guys comments here are just too funny to be true ..

have to agree with downieisking here . The bike may have more rpm's to go with , but you always have to think about max torque possible on a track . He ran not as the best , but if this a standard r1 he did really good! About the lines of the car ..i just saw him make 1 mistake not more , you guys post a movie where u do better then ! Have these people even been on a track with some power beneath ..i don't think so!

    Great vid guys !

  • at 4:51 this is cool man

  • nice car at 05.20 lol

  • too slow, IMO

  • guy in car needs to learn to drive too...his line is terrible in many corners

  • that is a Suzuki GSXR not an R1, and why aren't all the revs being used? this guy needs to learn to ride.

  • haha id love, just loveeee to see you get around that track on a bike without dying, can you even get around it on GT4??

  • it's an R1

  • Your right about one thing, You have 2 pin it to win it! But It is an R1

  • looks like R1 to me!

  • Stupid, R1's powerband is at 10-14k rpm

  • I love this fuckin machine sound!

  • the bike should redline or get close to 11000rpms

  • Did anyone see the ant crossing the road at 4'52? Wow they just managed to miss him, what a relief!!!

  • fag

  • I seen the ant!!! haha

  • great riding!! (fast but safe: never pushed it) respect due was on 1 wheel at 140 kph just after kesselcheen. looks at tad bumpy in places too

  • If was ROSSI...

  • can anyone tell me what a car that is? is it a lotus super7?

  • It's a Westfield with a Cosworth Turbo engine

  • okay thanks

  • this is not the bike following the car it just cant keep up with it

  • but the car has only 33ohp and the bike over 150hp. of course it can follow it!!

  • be good to see the bike with a pillion to make things fairer

  • could of at least wiped the bird shit off the glass b4 he recorded this lol. nice vid e knows how to carry his speed through the corners.

  • that biker knows what he's doing alright, staying alive. insane corner speed compared to my own mortal skill, respect. car is a real go cart in the corners but won't do much more then 200kph. bike could have taken him at kesselchen and some faster bits but stayed behind (because it had the cam?)

    great ride both of them.

@ stenovich: your the type of guy that causes streckensperren by smearing yourself all over the place. NEVER THINK YOUR ALL THAT ON THE RING, IT'LL KILL YOU!!!

  • scares the shit out of me! respect!!!!

  • respect to biker..anyone on a bike round the nord has death wish. Stick to cars..enough of them come unstuck but at least theres more between yourself and the tarmac.

  • Had the biker used the throttle a little bit more there had been a good chance it would have been the last thing he did! Respect to this biker!! Clearly you have never driven there before: driving like this while there is touristfahrten is for the insane.

  • If someone can't see, that the biker is holding back almost all the time during the entire lap, he must be really blind. Anyone who are familar with the speed of the Yamaha R1 knows that this was just a surf ride, the rider being a gentleman(-woman?) not passing the special Westfield car. If the bike rider had done so, he would easily have leaved the car behind by more than a minute for the lap.

  • yep

  • Yep. That rider was intentionally staying behind the car. He could easily have run off and left that little car if he'd wanted to. He must have just wanted to film the car in front of him.

  • funny how that yamaha has a suzuki tachometer

  • Thats why it sez R1 on it Doooh.

  • Did you watch the same video as me?

  • ZZZZZZZZZZ

  • bike def could have taken him....

  • The biker could have passed him, but he still has some riding skills.

  • That's a pair of big cojones going very fast!

  • un circuito troppo bello..xò il rettilineo finale dovevano metterlo...

  • The biker is amazing! to drive under this condition (corrugations, peaks) with a bike is just crazy!

  • Look at the rev counter/tachometer on the bike. Those bike engines max out just before redline, so most of the time the bike-rider is actually just "cruising"...

  • this is a real cool track , I always ride on this track with TouristTrophy the real riding simulator(playstation2 game)

but its so difficult, and I think its realy scary to drive on that track in real life!

  • I don't think this was a race at all. The bike rider felt like he was more filming the race for the car infront of him.

THere were lots of corners where it seems like the bike could of passed the car easily. But who am I to judge? I've never even been to europe :)

  • 1:23 - car is out of bike's sight.

  • The bike was a gear higher than he could have been all the way round. If he was in a lower gear the revs would have been sat in the fat part of the torque curve to fire him out of the corner. Therefore the rider wasnt trying anywhere near 100%.

  • ghostrider vs. Röhrl that'll be more interesting... the bikedriver was kinda nervous or so.. well I dont want to say that I am better but that was weak!

  • i was going to comment on the video, but spent the last ten minutes laughing my head of at the post! For dropping my own two penneth in,neither was flat out,but they also were not going slow, and i'd much rather do it in a car than on a bike,as from the time i spent there, the amounts of bikes stuck in the armco led me to believe it hurt a lot more!so unless you know it very well,i'd recommend driving how they did, very easy to catch a damp bit under the trees on a bend, when its dry elsewhere.respect

  • do you understand how scarey that track is on a bike compared to a car?

  • This is a race !? Shame for the rider...

  • what a sissy

  • That R1 has wayyyyyyy more bawls then that. Next time find a driver who isn't such a pussy.

  • i agree , the bike rider is not pushing it!!

  • omg when i see those engles at 180 km/h....awesome ride

  • unless you have actually taken a bike round there you have no idea how hard it is after a while every corner looks the same . Does this corner tighten or open out ? whats the camber on this corner need i go on its just the video title its not a Verses video more like some mates just having a bit of a blat and some fun. nicley done fellas most enjoyable

  • yeah it sure looks liek the rider isnt trying

  • The guy on the bike was letting the car win.

  • Find someone who can Ride .

  • Nice video - that biker is the nuts.

There are time the bike could of smoked the car, but cars always win on braking.

Wonder what the lap times on open tracks would be...

  • You call that a shoot out! what a joke!!! That bike could have passed that car at will. Why don't you car drivers let your balls drop and get on a bike...:-)

  • they don't do that often on nurburgring circuit?

  • There are 2 people in the westy, that means an extra 90 kilos [aprox] put another man on the bike and try again. The car is fatser.

  • You have no idea what you're talking 'bout mate. SO what if another 90 kilos was put on the bike, it would still shit all over the car on acceleration, cornering and would not be far off with the braking either. Maybe you should try getting on a bike sometime with somebody who can ride half decently.

  • Why do you assume that anyone posting here has no experience? I live 15 miles from the nordschleife, as far as riding with a proffesional I am good friends with the baron from Pb magazine. You should understand that there is always someone more knowledgable, faster or better than you. So put your ego back in your pocket and stick to what you know.

  • i LOVE that bike

  • oh and cars are just so crap inm comparison to bikes, even if the car was faster. who wants to be goin around in a tin box anyway. bikes are just....better, more fun, scence of freedom is fantasic.etc.etc. bikes rule

  • thasts easilt a bike win then. everyone knows cars are better in the bends and bikes have the acceleration. but in this the bike was keeping up in the corners well enough to absolutly burn the car in the straights, big and small. he just didnt.

  • Cars Rule, Bikes Suck!

Lol do u see bird poo on bike Lol!

  • he's shifting too early

  • the bike should do a sub 7min30 at the ring.

So many opportunities for the bike to leave the car standing i so bet he was dying to open the throttle.Good camera work tho.

  • Er has anyone thought that the reason the biker wasnt reving out is that he was sticking behind the car so as to video it?.

If he passed the car he wouldnt be able to video the Westfield.

    Not exactly rocket science.

And for all those who have commented on how slow he appears to be driving on the Ring, put your money where your mouth is and drive it before you make some silly remarks. The place is very dangerous but this is also why it thrills like no other section of tarmac in the world!

  • well said petetandino

  • yeh.. this aint a race.. ive seen a 600 do it in like.. half the time.. plus u can tell the guy on the bike isnt realy pushing himself.. well said mayne

  • very well said indeed!

  • They ought to title these things "Bike AND car" rather than "vs"

Two letters seem to ALWAYS stir up some pointless arguments.

  • its just says Bike following Car at Nurburgring - no Vs or anything, i don't get what half the comments here are for, they are just having a bit of a play on the track

  • I'm with you, there were a few time when the bike could have pasted the Westfield. AT 1 point he was @195 jst sitting behind. Also he aload westfield race line all the time, and it looked like he didn't wish to cut him up. P>S It didn't seem slow at all....

  • just saw the whole thing, what a feke vid!!!Call that follow the leader!!What the hell is the bike guy easing off for when he has place to pass????Balls!!~!

  • track totally suited to the car, also looks very slick with no place to pass! The bike is not even straining as is evident by the tach!!!!

  • Don't think the R1 had the edge anywhere here. Hence he came last!!! COZZIE POWER!!!!!

  • lol, just lol.

If you read up a bit you'll find this WASNT A RACE. Maybe in your dreams a cosworth engine is fast, but really its not.

  • What a Muppet you are!! If you knew anything about motor-sport you'd know that for the past 40 years cosworth had some input into the majority of successful motor-sport engines!! Show me another 1993cc engine that can produce 700+bhp!!!

  • An F1 engine from the turbo era ? 1.5L V6 / 1300bhp+ (depending on the turbo pressure)

  • A 1.5L V6 producing 1300 bhp? Bullshit!! You should lay off the hash man and talk about something you know about

  • !300 bhp per tonne...yes, he is correct, dick!

And however "revolutionary" you think the cosworth engine is... it would never beat an R1 around the track, and that is the point we're getting at. Clearly you're the one who's not so clued up on motor sport. LOLOL

  • Yeh he said 1300 bhp NOT 1300 bhp / tonne arsehole. Pull your head in.

  • No shit, but clearly thats what he meant. Stop knit picking and get over it.

  • Its not likely that you can, but if you can afford a car that is faster than a bike, go buy it. The guy on the bike will still have more fun than you.

  • The rider is good, can't fault him. But he was definitely not pushing hard. I wish I could watch him on a GSX-R 750 with basic mods (air filter + exhaust + PC III) against that same car (without the passenger). Different story I'd say!

  • You know the Nürburgring? Its the longest racetrack ever! Its very hard to drive!!

  • Too right, I got round quicker than this in my M5, that Westy is crusing. A bike shouldn't stand a chance against a car on the limit, the track is just too winding. Having said that, I got passed by a lot of bikes, hehe. Need to get back there on my 916!

  • why you don't use the gear????

  • neither vehicle pushing the limit here. Perhaps the camera gear was interfering with their concentration.Fun to watch , though. I leaned.lol.

  • i want to learn how to ride so much...

it look alot more fun that driving a car.

in a car you just sit thier and you arms and legs do the work.while on a bike you use your body almost as if it was an exstention of your body.
