  • The delay is beautiful...

I must get on of these..

  • This or dd 20?

  • @MrManelCasanova that is the question

  • this is exactly what i need! time to sell my nova delay.

  • What song is at 3:16???

  • @ripdivot 4 Chords, by The Axis of Awesome. ;)

  • IMO, what really sells this pedal is the trailing repeats... you can change passages and turn the delay off without killing the repeats that are already going. Brilliant.

  • Aside from using this unit in conjunction with the Strymon Blue Sky Reverberator mono for my electric rig, I use it stereo when I play acoustic. Both the units sound amazing but especially this one creates so much more depth. I randomizes the delays beautifully. I bought this unit early after it's release and since then I haven't heard any better delays, especially not the TC Nova...

  • Does somebody know how much is it in mexico?

  • The octave effect on the delay was very cool. I like how this pedal can have its own loop.

  • i think digital delays sound more organic than analog delays, i know most ppl say the opposite, but analog delays emulate tape delays in that they deteriorate as they repeat, thats not necessarily organic, thats vintage. organic means life-like, and not all echoes in nature sound warmer as they delay. I dont wanna get all technical, but overall it comes down to taste.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Most pedal snobs I know go to TC to get AWAY from tone suck and reliability issues. I mean... Pete Thorn uses one, for chrissakes. You're not thinking of another brand, are you?

  • @gtralien Isn't Pete Thorn a paid endorser for TC? I mean he's in their ads

I've heard of reliability issues with TC Nova aswell.. not sure about tonesuck, haven't tried it.

  • Does this pedal do oscillations well?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

That's not very good sale tactics, considering PGS carries the TC Nova... Oops.

  • @thetreyloo but they are very honest! Could you imagine stepping on TC Nova's screen and broke it? That is one reliability issue

  • Curious if anyone knows if the trailing repeat functions with the blended analog/digital or do you have to be in full digital mode?

  • Is it actually analog, or digitally-voiced analog?

  • does this thing do self oscillation???

  • This is my next delay pedal , it's everything i've been looking for : tap tempo , digital and analog delay and modulation !!

  • Andy, you play the best parts for every setting. Bravo!

  • How about this one vs DD-7 ?

  • I own this delay and I love it. The tap tempo takes a little getting used to. I owned a Boss DD-5 before I bought this, which I sold in order to afford this one. I'll probably buy a DD-5 again someday because it's the best digital delay I've owned, but the Deja Vu is awesome with its ability to do analog and digital. The modulation capabilities are , too. I play rhythm and sing in my band and it really adds to strummed parts in resonance. I recommend this pedal. Very warm.

  • thanks for making the choice clear. I was going between this and the Nova. Now I know which one to go with.

  • I like the options on this one, seems like good quality, the extra insert options are really a cool idea, are there any other higher end delays that have these too?

  • @XFattMonsterX Moog makes an analog delay with an external feedback, but those are +500$/€ pedals.

But any analog delay propably could be modified to have an external feedback loop. It comes down to finding the feedback trace on the FX's pcb, cutting it and soldering external jacks in between. Feedback/repeat pot is a legitimate point to break up the connection.

A good practising platform would be a Biyang (A chinese OEM) Delay, available with a number of brand names. About 30-40$/€

  • How do you plug in a volume pedal i.e. which way do the jacks go?! (noob question I know)

  • personally, i think the boss dd-7 is the best delay on the market

  • whats the song at 2:52?

  • is there any way to give this pedal a "reverse" effect?...

  • i always thought planet telex by radiohead was done with trem. awesome. i think im sold.

  • 1976 memory man deluxe FTW

  • this pedal seems amazing!!!!

  • Im between this and the reto-sonic analog delay, y loved the way the retro-sonic sounds, but I like the features in the deja vu, but i can't see no pros or cons between them any help anyone??

  • The Retro Sonic would sound better but the tap tempo would be useful on this one.

  • sounds like the intro to Squeeze's - Another Nail In My Heart with the pog plugged in. Will this pedal replace the dl-8 and carbon copy I'm running-anybody compare the analog side to the carbon copy?

  • How DOES it compare to the TB signal? Is it brighter, thinner? Do you notice a major tone change when you switch this pedal on in TB mode with the amp dimed? Finally a modulation delay with true bypass, and bright or dark repeats. I would have preferred switch # 2 be for modulation on and off.(.I'm sure I'm alone in that one.) I'm trying to figure out if I should keep my cmattmod for leads, or If this transparent enough to do everything. I'm buying this even if just for cleans.

  • The modulation is only on the BBD/analog side... if you want switchable modulation you could put a chorus box or whatever in the wet insert.

  • Awe man, I love your pedal demos, but I would have really liked to here the dry signal vs wet in TRUE bypass mode. Buffered tells me nothing about what it's doing to the original sound.

1st thing I do when trying out a delay is turn the mix all dry and compare it to the bypass signal. It has to pass that test first.

(Almost any pedal sounds cool if you dial your amp and everything else around it )... I prefer things to seamlessly integrate to my already cool tone. Not thin out or dampen.

  • Do want

  • what would be the best delay for the planet telex "sound"

  • Start off with a keyboard. Jonny plays it live with a guitar but I recommend some keys to start with.

  • 2:40 buckethead-like

  • yeah this things digital right?

  • planet telex hellyeah

  • RADIOHEAD!

  • Andy if I brought one of these I would never leave my house...lol...the possibilities with this pedal would be endless....Max

  • You can also make those crazy oscillation sounds when you fiddle with the speed knob.

The mix knob is different than a standard level knob. It can work in an amp with a parallel effects loop..

It has a hidden 20 second loop feature, but it can't record overdubs..

Cool pedal. But sadly, after listening very carefully to the pedal at high volume levels, I found it added more hiss to my signal than my Boss delay, and the tap tempo isn't as accurate.

Your experience might be better than mine.

  • Thanks for the comments. BBD's have some inherrent noise, but the digital side is pretty darn quiet. The Boss (digital delays with a modeled "analog" setting) will be quieter than a BBD, but the Deja Vu is still quieter than most analog delays. As for the tap tempo, that makes no sense. It's scientifically impossible for it to be "not as accurate" as something else. You put in two taps, you get exactly that delay time. It's software controlled.

  • liked the part with the POG mixed in. awesome delay pedal!

  • Hello there. Wondering, this pedal seems awesome, even better if you could get crazy awesome sounds when messing with the time knob; can you?

  • I LOVE PLANET TELEX

  • Whats the riff at 2:55?

  • Are you going to do a review of the SD Twin Tube Blue pedal?

    Thanks!

  • RH!!!!!!!!!!

  • Andy you should've demoed the Loop Function Also!!!

  • Cool pedal with really useful features, digital sound was good, as was the analog, but mixed 50/50, well maybe an aquired taste.

Good old Carbon Copy still is the best analog delay on the PSG demos to my ears, although it's very basic, I kind of like that.

Very cool though to see pedals being developed that sound good AND have feature that were only available on digital racks or complex and expensive pedal switching systems.

I will be following these developments for sure.

  • thanks for the demo, and all the others you give; they are hugely appreciated and helpful. a comparison of this pedal to some of the others in the same price range would be awesome!

  • One of the coolest things from NAMM 2009

  • This is absolutely brilliant! I know it's not quite the quality, but this is totally a budget version of the Diamond Memory Lane.

  • few things, why do i suck with delay pedals lol. Second, how long have you been playing? And finally, in the end you really need to put the price like say how much it is. Ive watched a ton of ur videos and it gets annoying having to go to ur website.

  • That's the point - Andy wants you to go to their website!

  • TRIPPY

It's the shape shifter in a delay pedal!

  • planet telex!!!

  • Sounds interesting... I might look into getting it.

  • Psychedelic pedal

  • Totally trippy!

  • What is the name of the first song he plays after talking??

  • wow that was a great demo!

  • Digital and analog? what the...

  • Andy said it is Analog unless he was wrong.

  • Both has a digital delay chip and BBD or something like that.

  • strange...

  • I love your song selection. You play more than just the blues.

  • This pedal is amazing. Was that a Paul Gilbert song in there as well ?

  • Yes, The Echo Song. I love that song.

  • go andy. i dont want anyone to take your place in demoing these freaky pedals! ok? dont go away! keep demoing!

  • Is he leaving?

  • nope

  • I'm not really convinced, sadly. The analog part is a bit too dark for me and the modulation, to me, isn't all that.

  • PLANET TELEX!

  • YAY!

  • the DL4 ARE THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • annoying

  • Cool Brian Setzar!

  • PLANET TELEX!

  • how do you get such clean recordings? no amp hiss at all!!

  • THE ECHO SONG!!!!!!!

  • not bad.

  • Sweet Planet Telex cover Andy!

  • Nice Planet Telex!

  • Yeah, Planet Telex!

  • WOW!!!!

A pedal that can do everything you want a delay pedal to do and do it well. I haven't paid much attention to Seymour Duncan pedals, but this one is a winner.

  • Can you overdub on the looper and keep adding parts over the original recording?

  • The loop is one "track". You can play your riff, have it play back infinitely, and play in real time over the top. Consider the loop feature a bonus, but we're not trying to make a dedicated looper.

What you can do that's cool is record a loop, and then still mess with the analog/digital, modulation, and the wet loop. So you can record a riff and play around with different outboard effects.

  • was that radiohead in the beginning man that pedal sounds amazing

  • its amazing what you can do with chinese reproductions of japanese chips. great delay ftw

  • better than DL4?

  • the DL4 is not necessarily better, just a different class. The DL4 combines delay with a host of other effects. If your looking for straight up versatile and great sounding delay that will work well with other effects, the DL4 is not for you. Something like this or a DD20 is better. But if you have few other effects and you want some whacked out stuff, go with a DL4. But be prepared to buy a replacement DL4 every two years or so. yup :)

  • damn that's nice

  • First good delay in a long time

  • Can we see a demo of the looper?

  • PLANET TELEX!!!

  • Great demo but Im really not impressed by this delay. I guess Im spoiled with my T.C. Nova.....

  • this is one of the coolest delays i've seen in a while

  • GAS'ing... this seems like an awesome delay

  • This is cool!

  • kool

  • i know you don't have it anymore but i would love to see a review of the schecter hellraiser sunset

  • This thing seems pretty awesome.

  • finally a look/sound of this bugger ..played it at NAMM 2009 and now here it is....i will aquire this...thanks for the review...

  • First.

  • ROFL hooray for Proguitarshop!!

  • lol xD

    ProGuitarShop ROCKS!

  • haha!

  • CURSES FOILED AGAIN!

  • hahahahahahahaha!
