  • Wow...

  • Loved your Slam Poetry

  • o.o I'd like to know your opnion on the Pastor Long case <.< Just for fun.

  • are you saying your gonna fight to stop them from fighting ? i was confuesd but thats what it sounded like to me

  • This is poetry.

  • YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION TO ME! i hope you dont mind, but i used this as my freshman speech. I WON! thank you, Dan, for being my inspiration and my hero. of course i will recognize you in my winning speech. all of the credit goes to you, my friend. keep doing what you are doing. loveya! ;D

  • Awesome! I LOVE it... Well DONE

  • god, you're awesome.

  • how old are you

  • i like this guy

    but not sexually LOL-_-

  • i like him both ways. :)

  • Very motivating. Your vocabulary, pronunciation, and easily able to be understood conjunctions of your address nourishes those who needs a leader of your mentality. A refreshingly innovative and new voice-of-reason representing the liberation gay peoples from the horridly desired partitioning of unilateral uncompetent fools who oppose differing sexuality- in essence I support you as the quintessential promulgation as the proper combatant against the unbelievers of a united kingdom. Bensoir

  • Dan be a motivational speaker, and any other type of speaker because you rock!

  • want to protect the sanctity of marriage? Ban heterosexual divorce and remarriage and divorce and remarriage...

  • stunning. well done you!

    Greetings from Peru.

  • STOP OVERPOPULATION BAN STRAIGHT MARRIAGE

:) sorry for the probably incorrect spelling

  • ummm.. i think you are missing the point.

  • very nice . your videos are all really good keep doing what you do

  • You're a real hero. Keep being amazing.

  • You are awesome.

  • wow nice.you're amazing<3

  • stunning

    respect

  • Wow! What a statement, mate! Well done you!!!

  • That was really good. Thank you for addressing this issue, you are great and I love watching your videos because some of them are inspiring. 5/5

  • Good thoughts - try not to read from the cue cards too much though, its distracting. =)

  • i would stand beside you and fight. for you, for me, and for them. . . keep fighting for the right to be equal. . . you inspire me!

  • I totally agree with you! :)

  • I love how you articulate your thoughts, you do it so well! The whole "force to be reckoned with" part was AWESOME! Keep up the good work cutie!

  • I have no business in ur bedroom or life & therefore don't mind how u choose 2 live it, freewill. I have friends/family I may not feel the same about as far as their beliefs etc. I do not want gay marriage 2 be passed because it will effect everyone. Gay realtionships will be taught to my kindergarteners, they effect the economy (taxes, social security etc) & were does this stop...next people will want to marry their mother, father, sister brother, pet or object.

  • People have gay tendencies... they can choose if they will act on them. Sorry but gay is not who you are. There are different tendencies and weakness that I have, being a mortal... I do my best to keep them in check. I don't try to justify my weaknesses and say... this is who I am.

"Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power"-Lao-tzu

Again I appreciate how civil the video is, and I hope it can continue.

  • saying you have gay friends does not manke you any less of a bigot that being said you are raising you're objections in a more civil was than usual being gay is not a choice you can't control who you fall in love with why would somone in a place where homosexuality is illegal still be gay and risk the death penalty and this is showing weakness i don't think so

  • dude maybe you are just gay?

it's called being in denial or in the closet

  • this doesn't merit a response, but I digress. How old are you? Your post adds no value to the discussion. Please if you are going to post, post something, at least add to the discussion. To the previous poster who is more respectable... I am not a bigot. I have opinions that differ from yours, I do not treat anyone with intolerance and I hate no one. Which according to Merrium and Webster means I am not a bigot. As I perviously mentioned I have gay friends whom I respect and love.

  • my right to adopt.

All this being said I have gay friends. I respect them and hope the best for them. I respect you and your opinion. I hope that there can be great respect for differing ideas in the world.

  • I don't believe that this is a civil rights issue. I think that gays should have the same tax benefits etc. but there are still somethings I don't believe they should be able to do. Namely adopt children. I honestly believe that being gay is a lifestyle choice... I believe that some people are born with gay tendencies, but in the most respectful way I can say is I think it is like tendencies people have towards alcohol.

There are certain lifestyle choices I could make that would relinquish

  • *sigh* another person who thinks its a choice to be gay...Im gay, and I certainly didnt choose to be this way, I was born this way and have no control over changing it. By saying that its a choice you believe that you have control over it, which im afraid I dont.

  • Interesting ideas. I think your strongest point is that by fighting what you are calling discrimination you are helping those who you believe to be discriminating, so they are not discriminating against. I appreciate your non-combative response and expression of opinion.

I however strongly disagree with gay marriage. I also think it is very hypocritical what many many anti-prop 8 people are doing. Especially targeting the mormons, making them a scapegoat. I digress.

  • Excuse me? The mormons targeted gay couples. The mormons made gay people the scapegoat. Did you SEE those commercials? They were absurd. LGBTQ and the supporting community have only retaliated against them. They pointed fingers, and now they are having that favor returned.

  • show one video made by mormons or the mormon church that attacked gay couples. Do you actually know what the anti-prop 8 people have done in front of mormon temples? and the kinds of things that they have said? No, mormons and the Mormon church have not done anything of the sort.

For example the Latina women who were not members of the mormon church that pulled of some of the hateful signs from a mormon temple, who were then beaten by the crowd of anti-prop 8 people. So don't be stupid!

  • Fabulous...

  • Good points here... Liked your video. Vick

  • ur looks soo hot with short hair coz i got the same =D

  • you are a very intellegent young man

  • Well said! Wow, I love your eloquence.

  • you are a dead set fukin legend!!!!

  • Thoughtful, intelligent and well said Dan! Thank you for your important message :)

  • hey i have a couple of friends that are gay. another friend told me that they might try to turn me gay. can that happen?

  • you're born gay, they can't change you into a gay person unless you want to be gay and like men lol/or women, whatever gender you are

  • THey are all the same

    So E-M-O

  • wow that was a great truthfull message. i applaud that even though people can give you the idea you're second class, you dont hold a grudge and keep seeing the big picture. if we accept the challenge and go to the same level, this will turn into a war, and wars have no winners and wont help people in moving forward.

  • YOU ARE MY GOD ! THANKS YOU !

  • What is it with *America*? Every group must fight to gain the very rights which are claimed to be self-evident by the very words which make this nation a nation.

"...that all men are created equal

    to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;

with liberty and justice for all,

in the land of the free

and the home of the brave....."

    .....someone should

base a nation on these principles.

  • "...that all men are created equal

    to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;

with liberty and justice for all,

in the land of the free

and the home of the brave....."

which makes me wonder if many american people that say those lines over and over again even know what they are saying. good point

  • gays have same rights as straight people. to marry of the opposite sex...they are asking for more rights, a special privilage. gays can do whatever we can do, nothing extra and vice versa...giving extra privilages is unConstitutional, kiddo!

  • thats jsut a stupid thing to say and you know it. just like years ago when it was debated if people from diffrent races could marry eachother. we now all know its stupid to think diffrent races cant get maried, but you can still say: we all had the right to marry our own race, so we shouldnt give extra privilages. the privilage we get shouldnt be marry the other sexe, but to marry SOMEONE. its not a special privilage to gay people, its one big privilage to anyone, so anyone can get married

  • if it i thought it was stupid i wouldn't have said it...I used logic. on paper, everything is equal, and as a black person, i feel it's stupid for you to use race as a desperate attempt at an argument, seeing as how we didn't choose to be black, and we can still reproduce naturally...gays chose to be gay and can't reproduce naturally...where's your logic, kid?

  • lol, you lost your battle there:P. you do no chose to be gay, you are born gay. trust me, i know. what does reproducing hve to do with it? that way yu would also say that you should not marry a woman that is not able to get children.

speaking of "desprate attempts", you try to put yourself above me by calling me kid all the time, though its abvious to me that i see much clearer then you. in any case i know much more about what being gay is the you.

  • i didn't lose my battle, i voted yes and i won...sorry :P

  • also, all I'm trying to say is don't bring up the race card cause it's not the same. Not The Same...don't ever put me and my race in a category with gays, okay? I don't have a problem with gays, just your comment and giving them extra privilages

  • I think that you have a myopic view of the "oppression hierarchy" which is an abominable concept in and of itself, but which you appear to consider yourself to be at the top of, which is why it must be addressed even at the risk of myself being accused of claiming the crown.

Homosexuality was a capital offense in Europe from about 390 AD onward. In various countries including the US, it was either a capital crime or a felony into the 20th century.

There has never been a law against being black.

  • Listen, I do not have ANY problem with gays! I don't consider myself above anybody. I have gay friends!! However, I am entitled to believe that they shouldn't be allowed any extra special privilages. We live in a democratic republic. I'm allowed to vote. Living in So Cal, I spoke with my vote in favor of prop 8. It's just your view of discrimmination is different from mine. Everyone had a chance to exercise their rights, everyone spoke. Be civil about it, guys come on!

  • We have different definitions for "friend".

There is nothing civil about discrimination.

There is nothing special about equal.

You have a right to vote and it was hard won not too long ago, it doesn't excuse using that vote to discriminate.

You probably experience more discrimination than I do, the difference is that the discrimination against you isn't supported by laws, churches, and the culture.

  • I don't experience any discrimination actually...and I'm black living in a 95% white town (prob b/c I don't act like other blacks), but anyway, my gay friends say the same things as you...that's fine, we disagree but i still love them b/c they're my friends. you have your opinion i have mine, let's just move on and get some, okay? when it's all said and done we are all safe, healthy and alive. Peace, darling!

  • You are not their friend if you voted for Prop 8.

  • Ask them that...I'm just not YOUR friend. Believe me, I'm 100% okay with that! They understand how I was raised and accept me for it anyway, just as I accept them regardless of our different lifestyles...I know it may be hard for you to understand, I voted yes, I still have ALL my friends. That's what loyalty, love, and acceptance mean. Taking the person as is and befriending them regardless. I'm not looking for your approval or friendship...I have plenty, thanks!

  • dont run away from the arguement

  • Discrimination to what vote, use a public restroom like anyone else, go to certain resturants? Can you please explain to me the discrimination? I guess I am confused. If you are talking about how others treat you as far as in public or something, being able to marry would not change that. U r not made to sit on the back of the bus or anything the blacks, jews, women were discriminated on are you? I guess I am confused, u can live w & sleep with who or what u want to.

  • If the civil rights movement were simply about sitting in the back of the bus, we wouldn't be having this conversation. You seem to still want to play the oppression hierarchy game, and this isn't a game. Thanks for sharing.

  • Being called FAG! in school being shot in the head at the age of 15 for asking someone to be your valintine

Having your funeral intturupted by protesters holdup up says that say "Matthew Sheppard Burns in HELL"

    Being denied the american dream.

Not being able to get a roommate because they think u'll try to rape them

Not being able to hold hand with someone you love in the park

not being able to have kids because they thing u'll raise them to be gay or rape them

  • u are right these issues wont go away just because we get the vote but if we are not trated as though we are good people worthy of rights then we will never be treated that way

our leaders have to set the example

  • There r a lot of people who r picked on at school, & yes there should b people standing up 4 u as w any child. Same thing w a funeral, police should have been called & they should have been arrested. What American dream r u denied? People have a choice 2 pick a roomate, who is stopping u from holding hands, I c it all the time??? My aunt & her partner have a child, it is a boy but they have a child all the same. This is not the same as how gays, jew, women etc have been treated...denied rights.

  • The bottom line is this: The people who hate the most, all seem to name blacks, jews, and gays. The KKK, the Aryans, the Church of the Creator, the Army of God. So are you telling me that they're wrong about blacks and jews, but right about gay people?

  • im not putting groups in the same category, i was saying its the same issue, and i still think it is. and like i said, i alsodont see itas extra privilages, i see prop 8 as taking away human rights. thas my view because i think that if you marry you marry that person out of love, not because its someone of a diffrent sex. if that perosn being of a diffrent sex isnt a motivation to marry him/her, imo it shouldnt be a reason not to allow someone to marry him/her either.

  • I hear what you're saying & appreciate you being civil about it, a lot more words get through that way, unlike some people on here! Anyway, what you are saying does make sense to a certain extent, but you also have to understand that I was raised 20 yrs in the Christian church (I'm 20). I do understand separation of Ch&St, however, I can't erase all that I've been taught. Some people just cant do it. If prop 8 failed, I'd accept my friends victory & move on even if it's against my beliefs.

  • cant deny that that affects our judgement greatly. if youve ben raised in the christian chruh for 20 years then you should be lucy with the way you see things:P, man people think pretty extreme about these sort of things

  • I do not believe that gay marriage as a right or should I say that people against it are discriminating. I have no problem w what anyone does in their bedroom/home. I do have a problem w what they want 2 teach very young children (incl mine in K) I had at 1 time thought maybe they can call it a union etc (marriage I guess thought should b reserved 4 a man & a woman), next we will want 2 marry our mom, dad, sis, bro, pet or object. What limit would there b? Also as far as econo, social sec etc

  • i want to marry my cat

and you have no right to deny me my right!

  • Good response!

  • Exactly! They use the argument that sexual diversity exists, but they fail to realize that so does pedophilia, incest, etc... and none of these are okay. Its like a 50 yr old, wanting to marry his 15 yr old girlfriend w/o parental consent. Its just not going to happen. We absolutely cannot run this country based on feelings. There must be a line drawn somewhere & they get every privilage possible to the rest of us, they just want redefinition of the morals we've upheld proudly in this country.

  • all morals have to change

thats what this country is about the freedom to change

always changing for the better idea

one time it was imoral for women to go to school

once it was imoral for a black man to marry a white woman

we never uphold any morals in this country

because we ussually are wrong about them

  • There are right and wrong morals. Gay morals is wrong. Should we allow child porn, sibling matrimony, beastiality to change our morals? Is that where we are headed? There is nothing immoral about being born, black, white, etc. You want to make your sexual habits into something right. I'm not going to contribute to the downfall of this country. I will vote against gay marriage every time, as it is I won the battle and am very pleased w/ myself... I just wish McCain had won..

  • do not compare homosexuals to pedophiles. Sex between 2 consenting human adults is not immoral

Having sex with a sibling is really just more natural unhealthy...ya know genes and such. Also, may i remind u, you didnt win the battle. In the past election gay marriage was made legal in Connecticut, we have an openly gay congressman & a heterosexual African American congressman who fully supports gay rights. So yes im afraid the old ways will fade and so shall you

  • These latest events have made me happy to live in Canada, the true land of the free. Yet while I am happy that I am considered a full citizen while being gay, I am also reminded that the rights which we hold dear can very easily be taken away. Indeed, when our government legalized gay marriage, we had a revote similar to that in California. And while we voted in favour of keeping gay marriage, the margin was not a comfy mile. Those who hate us should watch some xmen and shut the hell up.

  • Which nation do you believe insures the sovereignty of Canada and its "true land of the free" status??

    ...it's not Canada.

  • I hate to burst your bubble, but Canada is quite capable of defending herself should the need ever arise. And this notion that you are somehow protecting us from the big bad wolf a less than subtle cover for stealing our natural resources. Indeed, sometimes I often wonder if Canada will be the next country to be accused of possessing "weapons of mass destruction".

  • Further more, unlike our U.S. brethren, Canada truly accepts everyone as equal, regardless of age, sex, race, or sexual orientation. We are a country that embraces diversity on all levels.

  • Hmmm.. I live there yet couldn't disagree more. Fundamentally what you are saying is correct, however in practise that is not the case. You must be in the bubble?

I assure you the Canadian military is not large enough to defend the vast lands of Canada alone by itself. The military is not staged to be a measure of solo defence or of offense or deterrent. It is designed as an allied force.

    What possibly suggests otherwise?

  • As with so many things in life, the product maybe less than the ideal, but this end result is far greater than that which is seen in the United States.

As for the other issue of Canada's military, I will not go in depth with such a discussion, as I have confirmed via your profile that you are canadian, and are therefore ignorant of reality, or simply ommitting reality to suite your purpose.

  • Now I don't understand how living in Canada makes one Canadian???

You give Canada some major props, then you tear apart Canadians?

    Por que??

Lawrence, you are worrying me with your delusion.

  • No theyre not, they are too busy drinking beer and playing hockey eh! What are you talking aboot?

  • Lmao! Wow, haven't heard that one before.

  • lawrence5584:I feel the need to correct your comment about the vote in Canada's Parliament. The vote was saying whether or not the issue of same-sex marriage should be re-opened for debate, but it wasn't a vote on gay marriage itself. If it had passed, which it didn't, legalized gay marriage would have still been happening. I guess there would have been another vote after that on same-sex marriage itself. Then legal battles, if any moves to take it away had passed.

  • I apologize. Perhaps I was jumping the gun slightly. My point was to show that, inspite of the fact that this issue was decided, just as it was in California, the government attempted to open the issue up again. Whether it would have led to a vote banning gay marriage is anyone's guess. The fact remains that the issue that was supposidly dealt with was none the less brought back up, and that made me and many others very uncomfortable.

  • No problem. Actually, this happened a while ago in Canada, so is fuzzy in memory. I should have said, if the vote passed to re-open debate, and they rejected gay marriage on a second vote; I don't think it would have an any effect, unless a vote came up to actually define it as a man and a woman. Then there would have been legal battles. Complicated! It shows that people will go to ridiculous lengths to try to defend something irrational like discrimination.

  • Duh? What this about?

  • u are an awesome person

  • i think we should unite all groups of different ore gen together because that way everyone of us will get what we want as a nation united we stand divided we fall

  • w00t! you tell em! <33

  • You go boy!

  • YES SIR! GO DAN GO!! :D

  • You're amazing.

  • YEAH! wooT!

    love & support from Canada

  • just FANTASTIC.

  • we'll fight together and we will see gay marriage on the federal level

  • I

    absolutely

    love

    you.

    amazing vid.

it's our reason to fight summed up in a 1 minute, 52 second video.

    brilliant.

  • lovin' this!

  • Cheers!

  • Great video! I wish I could be as articulate as you.

  • Thank You

  • GO DAN! Dont forget, there are those of us heteros who are standing with you against discrimination! Together we stand, loud and proud!!!! STOP HATE!

  • you're awesome.

even though prop. 8 has labeled me as a "second class citizen" i will never consider myself as one. because i will not lower myself to their level.

  • that was an awesome video Dan, well said!

  • You make me proud to be one of your subscribers. Thank you for saying what I know now I should be thinking.

  • i stand with you dan

  • so now we stand 4 another day and we will win.

  • yup...exactly what i think too. =)

  • Amen!

  • very poetic, especially with the hand gestures : ) i will fight with you!

  • Nicely said Dan!!

  • a wonderful message that everyone should hear no matter where you live in the USA and regardless of your orientation. all rights have to be fought for, and silence from the minorities has never won anything.

  • Well said. I am for gay rights. And for those guys that protest anti-gay rights, how do you think women feel when you want to stick the dick up our assholes. If you ask me you are on the verge of being a wanna-be gay yourself. Sorry for the terrible outburst, but these kinds of people piss me off.

  • Deep man, major props.

  • Great video, loved it, very heart spoken and yes we are all in this together.

  • nice... if anyone pleae could tell me what this prop. 8 is about? Im from mexico so I am not that well informed about california´s legislature, anyway, anyone plis tell me!

  • anyone pls correct me if im wrong, the prop 8 is a law that bans gay marriage and so its legal rights like family insurance and other stuff.

  • thanks a lot man!!! And thank god dan exists!!! (I hope not to regret my words XD) anyway, peace!

  • I'm from California. I'm straight, I'm married, and I voted NO on Prop 8. We are all in this together.

    Wonderful video! Very well spoken.

  • amazing.

  • I'm studying lit, and I think this was masterfully well done. Congrats and thank you.

  • Beautifully said. Perhaps the public view of our fellow American's oppression will serve to bring about a quicker end. It is one thing to be a bigot in private and another to publicly state it for all the world to see. This not meant to be hateful but the terrible fires in California would have been blamed on God's wrath by the right wing if Prop 8 had been defeated. But somehow is not His wrath because it was passed. Just a thought. Peace.

  • Impressive. Seriously.

  • i need 2 find a rally in NJ thats close 2 toms river...i made a like 20 shirts 4 me and m,y friends and we can only where them in school...but enough of that

dan, that was awsome as well as inspirational

  • Wow, that is very deep!

    I liked it.

I also got goose bumps from one of your vids.

    5 starz =D

    -Justin

  • I read in the LA Times today that an avalanche of lawsuits are being prepared to challenge the outcome of the recent voting on Prop. 8. This whole issue is far from over. This is just the beginning.

"God save us from the tyranny of the 'majority'."

  • the rally in Columbus was amazing i'm glad people are finally speaking out

  • Daaaammmn! =/

  • A-m-e-n

  • Profound.

  • Taking the high ground.

    =]

  • Dan, this is very inspirational -- and very deep. Thanks for this -- and thank you, for being you.

  • Once again you've given us your enriching commentary, rationality, and passionate spirit. This, and so many of your videos, is pure gold, and I appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts.

  • Dan,

I think in one word this was perfect. 5 stars all the way

Keep it up, makes me remember the first time I saw one of your vids I got goose bumps again.

    thx

  • Great video. Great job at speaking out too. :)

  • Amazing.

  • Very Beautifully stated. very strong. I absolutely loved this video! keep them up!
