I understand job cuts are hard to face but if a company is going bankrupt what do you expect? Having a protest isn't going to make more business magically appear. Alot of companies are doomed because they've made poor decisions. Look at American car companies. All the strikes and protests in the world aren't going to save them.

Sony haven't been doing so well in a couple of years.
TV - Samsung dominates them plus the rise of other competitors such as Vizio, LG, Philips
Phones - The rise of Samsung, LG and Apple (US).
Laptop - Lots of new competition.
Gaming - PS3 failed miserably
Film/Media - doing very well. Basically the only thing. Based in the US.
Music - Record industry as a whole is profiting less and less.

the concept of a public company needs revision... . the main problem is that the best interest of the company is usually not aligned with the best interest of individual manager, directors, ceos. just look at how investement bankers on wall street acted in their own short term best interest to get their yearly bonuses, but not in the long term interests of their banks, which are now on the verge of collapse.

im not talking about personal accountability, what matters is the condition that breeds crime and social pathology. societal-level poverty, inequality does not simply happen- the degree to which it arises is wholly dependent on systems of power and abuse excluding the people from the social product, or political participation.

Don't play good vs evil scenario. The union is excising violence against another company employees. The CEO and managaements make the decisions, but if the board of directors and the shareholders don't like their decisions, they will be out of their jobs sooner than the union members.
Reality is that everyone looks at their bottomline, so as the workers, if you don't like your profit margins, you can leave anytime you want.
