Who was the demonstration for? Was it to a group of journalists showing them the root cause of the Drive by Wire fault? Or was it given by BMW showing how common Toyota faults would less likely effect their vehicles??? Does anyone know?
I think they are showing the fact that if a car was to unintentionally accelerate the computer would not log that as a "fault".
But not to my surprise, after hearing about this I found out that German auto manufacturers have had a gas-brake override logic since the early 90's. So even though it could happen in a bimmer, you'd be safer if that happened in a German car.
