People were expecting to see the famous hannibal once again, but they forget that this is a motion picture detailing how his life into becoming Hannibal STARTED. This is the set of events that led to his creation of Lecter. This is a story about his life. Get used to it. An incredible film
I dont see why people say this movie was so bad. I watched it twice, over a couple of monsths, and i still think this is a good film.
Now, of course it was UNNECESSARY, as long as we´re speaking about the hannibal franchise, because one of the things, for me, that makes hannibal lecter (when it´s hopkins), such an interesting character is his mysterious background, his motivations unknown, and it works, just like with the halloween franchise before----next comment, running out of letters LOL
Hannibal was pretty mature for his age. I'm 16 like he was in the movie, and yet, he seems like he's an adult in the movie. Going 2 medical skool, work scholarship, he is a very fascinating guy, despite him, killing those 5 dudes, they deserved it. I was pretty amazed when i first bought this movie a few years ago. WOWEE!!!! =O

This movie was great! I watch the series in chronological order, and that is the way to see them. Red dragon to me wasn't all too good, it's like any other thriller that chases a killer down, it was way too predictable and i got bored. But Silence of the Lambs was great of coarse with a good twist at the end and Hannibal was awesome too! The feeding the mans brains to himself was gnarly! And this film was just perfect, it set the mood! This actor was good at having a killers look in his eyes!

and yes hannibal was a real person he had died at a very old age his death was around in the late 1920's a few years after he was put in the eastern state prison.

I hate to break it to you but... That technicley was a humans first nature. If you didn't have any food nearby, a more prehistoric person would've killed off an enemy of 'family member', even for a source. It was just instinct. Of course, we're more "Evolved" now. But there is still cannibalism.

Yea, I love Hannibal Lecter, but I didn't like Hannibal Rising. It was an okay movie, just doesn't fit what the novel Hannibal states (FIRST) about the good doc's childhood. Read the book Hannibal, the number of inconsistencies in HR movie/book when compared to the book Hannibal is staggeringly revolting. One can't help but wonder if Thomas Harris even read his own book "Hannibal" before he wrote this one.

Yea, I love Hannibal Lecter, but I didn't like Hannibal Rising. It was an okay movie, just doesn't fit what the novel Hannibal states (FIRST) about the good doc's childhood. Read the book Hannibal, the number of inconsistencies in HR movie/book when compared to the book Hannibal is staggeringly revolting. One can't help but wonder if Thomas Harris even read his own book "Hannibal" before he wrote this one.

one clips 13 yrgirl,they freeze her arm cozing frosbites and stuck her arm in the boiling water, and peel her skins off.just like that.. and more..while she's still alive..and another clip is they cut open a prengnant woman , grab her baby out with a knife in he guns. and let her died suffering..

God I loved this movie. I am going to see it for a third time later this week. Heck, I'll even be up for viewing it a fourth time. It's great to finally see Lecter's troubled past on screen.
