The church doesnt marry people just because they love each other. I know gay ppl love - and love just as completely as str8 ppl& I respect that, but marriage to us is more than love, its having children and raising a family (adoption is not having children, its getting children). Having said that, I find it very weird that gay marriage is actually illegal. Whats the laws excuse? I think everyone has the right to marry whoever they want, man or woman; I cant see how its a crime.

1. the Church does not marry anyone; the couple marry each other via their vows & the contract of marriage to each other
2. "Marriage" is a religious construct. A civil union (non-religious marriage) is not a marriage. It is s social contract validated by civil law.
3. Gay ppl should be able to enter into civil unions with ALL civil rights. Their love & committment is equally valid to str8s

if you believe that your religion should have the last say when it comes to ethics (and at least the pope should), then you should assess the validity of human rights not according to a rather recent majority view, but according to your religion. homosexual acts can be judged morally just like any other human acts. i don't understand religion enough to tell you whether they may be objectionable, but at least i would allow the argument and not suppress it like you suggest.

The best versions - from a scholar's POV - are the Douay-Rheims & the KJV, due to the precision of the translation & sources. I am referring to both as my sources.
The only difference between the two is that the former (Catholic) includes more books then the latter.
Both have issues relating to issues with translation, cultural context, et. al. - but are the best versions around.

Very simple: Paul is speaking of unbridled Hedonism - hetero/homosexual, and mistreatment of one's bretheren as both: 1) spiritual dysfunction, and 2)things which - if not corrected can lead to the eternal detriment of a soul. 1. Jesus said NOTHING about it, and He is God. He did say MUCH about heterosexual sin - adultery, divorce, etc. That is a big hint.
2. There is NO sin in being romantically/sexually attracted by the same sex. This is neither a free choice nor 'curable'.
3. Read ALL the chapter in context. The injunctions are against excesses of lust/lechery of ALL types - gay AND str8.
4. Gay sex is simply a misuse of the intended use of sexual apparatus. That's all......

Homosexuality is a very complex state, which is NOT chosen. It is usually the result of abuse and/or trauma in early childhood - which leads to the complex emotional/mental/psychological/social response.
Of itself, homosexuality has no 'religious dimension'. Nor does love & companionship of same sex persons.
Wild hedonism IS a moral issue - applicable to gay & str8 alike.
