DOW2 is a good game, I might play it for as long as 20 hours, but honestly, it's really too simple, compared to starcraft 2 it's really childsplay. I don't mean to insult the game, but just by comparisson, Starcraft is so much more in-depth, constantly evolving and has players working at 300 apm to try and handle their macro and micro. Also, look at Esports. Not much DOW on livesteam/tournaments/youtube. It just doesn't work as a sport. As a purely fun game DOW2 is great, but SC2 is so much more

I love Star Craft Brood War but STar Craft 2 is just overhyped. way to repetitive 7 out of 10 games play out the same from my experience (GOLD) and i have a friend that is diamond and switched over to DOW 2 and got hooked right away. @IIIMAVER1CK What do you do then. Its an RTS there are lots of strategies to pick from, as you mentioned, in low level plays, you probably see the same strategies over and over, but Master League is a whole different beast, keep 4 gating, you will get stomped for sure.
@IIIMAVER1CK The point I'm trying to tell you is, Starcraft 2 isn't that simple as you think it is. There are more strategy INSIDE a build order, lets say, 4 gate for example. You need to time the chronoboosts correctly, and when the opponent holds off your 4 gate, you will need to follow up with another strategy, and if that fails, follow it up with another one, you dont follow up, and stick with gateway units, you lose.

i currently dont like starcraft 2 that much due, well i cant get out bronze simply by no micro at all. it seems that you have to micro at some point of units to win even fights thats why i hardely play normal multiplayer matches. it should reward people of perfect macro instead of micro. maybe there race or ability i missed.

@DanceNaga Warhammer and its 40,000 counterpart was around a good decade before Diablo was even an idea.The computer game and gameplay may be original, but it's still the same game thirteen years ago despite its updated graphics. Relic and its games actually did more than play World of Warcraft and actually improved upon the RTS aspect rather than recycle an old formula.

Dawn of War 2 is more strategy and micro intense NO unit gets used the same way every match. More Variety=more fun. SC Brood War is even better then Star Craft 2. and alot of people can agree with me that it is so. 7 out of 10 game mostly are the same in Star Craftw cuz people just rush.

@wicNKWD37 well people that milk that strategy normally lose to me im elo 2300. and trying to gib units with the warpspider and guardians never really works lol. only against ranged armies. i have melee and when i see that a warspider is about to gib my daemons i just warp them. they become invulnerable and then i do the aoe on the guardians and they cant throw grenades ^^ and the tanks are actually very usefull if you use them right. they have to be supported like in SC 2 siegetanks need help.

I order my tank to fall back but no, it wants to drive through the cover protecting my men, turning around slowly while getting shot and then to drive around half the map even when I was just to move back a few meters(gamewise). I think they could nerf the guardians grenade damage. They can wipe out entire squads of guard. Reallly annoying if you just bought a squad of cats.
@boxtears If tournaments are not shown on youtube or korean TV doesnt mean that they are not held. There are a lot of tournaments going on in DoW2 and about the online youre poorly mistaking there are a lot of people playing dow 2 and i have no trouble finding 1v1 2v2 3v3 and ffa mathces near 5pm. About the quantaty of the players in DoW 2 it doesn't have no life tennagers sitting 11 hours a day like the koreans do. Because popularity ruined DoW1 which is a piece of shit after DC.

to those who say that SC2 is about who can build the most units, they are wrong. try spamming zerglings against helions, or Templar with psystorm upgrade. sure you have more units, but if you've ever played starcraft you'll quickly learn it wont work.

DoW2 is better than SC2, because you can make different tactics with the same troops, and you can win with one great action ! Sc2 is a good game too, but not enough uses with the differents units !
@clem624 DoW is a true RTS, as strategy is a vital key in victory. Starcraft takes out ALL kinds of strategy and the winner is decided by whoever builds the most units fastest.
Warhammer utilizes morale and cover systems, and small team of specialists can take out a f*cking tank.

I own both and I prefer SCII. Production values are obviously higher in StarCraft, and I enjoyed the plot and game play more. Online play, for me at least, is more competitive and fun as well in StarCraft. This is just my opinion tho.
SC2 is quite different than dow i think, you get all the races with just one game in multiplayer, but you get only one campaign. So you'll need just one to enjoy the full multi. There are also MANY modifications on multiplayer that make the game more enjoyable for years. Mods that make the game more like Metal Slug, or the famous DOTA rpg mods, or lots of tower defense mods and thousands to come, cuz they're player made. (there's a great game editor tool)
Personally i don't give a shit who copied who. Just like who does it better. Personally I rather lean towards Sc2, since the S.Koreans put on a great show!
I'm a modder of the Dawn of War series, so dawn of war and 40k fans, stop ripping on SC2. Before Dawn of War I played SC. The reason why DOW is not as popular is because a lot of people love video games. The 40k universe started out as miniatures, so a lot couldn't relate to it. Starcraft 2 on the other hand already had SC and later Brood War. DOW2 is interesting, but the missions in the SC2 campaign are very unique. DOW2 only has few unique missions. But you gotta love their DOW2's graphics.
Its plain simple: Dawn of War II its a good game that will sell a couple of copies and will be played for 1 or 2 years, won't be an eSport and nobody will care by 2012.
In the other hand, Starcraft II will be played by millions for at least 10 years, and obviously will be the main attraction for many eSport events.

Its not copying. Terra is Latin for earth. So they called Earth in Warhammer essentially the same thing... Terra. And Blizzard used Terra but added 'ans' to make a word like Earthlings to create a name for their race of Earth exiles the Terrans.

DOW2 is a good game, I might play it for as long as 20 hours, but honestly, it's really too simple, compared to starcraft 2 it's really childsplay. I don't mean to insult the game, but just by comparisson, Starcraft is so much more in-depth, constantly evolving and has players working at 300 apm to try and handle their macro and micro. Also, look at Esports. Not much DOW on livesteam/tournaments/youtube. It just doesn't work as a sport. As a purely fun game DOW2 is great, but SC2 is so much more

@IIIMAVER1CK The point I'm trying to tell you is, Starcraft 2 isn't that simple as you think it is. There are more strategy INSIDE a build order, lets say, 4 gate for example. You need to time the chronoboosts correctly, and when the opponent holds off your 4 gate, you will need to follow up with another strategy, and if that fails, follow it up with another one, you dont follow up, and stick with gateway units, you lose.

DoW series has some innovative concepts. I enjoyed it very much.
but in DoW2 the delivery was a bit disappointing.
It ended up being even more tedious to play than traditional RTS :/
impressive graphics, varied squad options and absence of base building don't make a good RTS.
pathing, responsiveness, and dynamism ( i.e situation changes swiftly and dramatically depending on your actions ) do. That's what SC2 delivers.

@wicNKWD37 well people that milk that strategy normally lose to me im elo 2300. and trying to gib units with the warpspider and guardians never really works lol. only against ranged armies. i have melee and when i see that a warspider is about to gib my daemons i just warp them. they become invulnerable and then i do the aoe on the guardians and they cant throw grenades ^^ and the tanks are actually very usefull if you use them right. they have to be supported like in SC 2 siegetanks need help.

I order my tank to fall back but no, it wants to drive through the cover protecting my men, turning around slowly while getting shot and then to drive around half the map even when I was just to move back a few meters(gamewise). I think they could nerf the guardians grenade damage. They can wipe out entire squads of guard. Reallly annoying if you just bought a squad of cats.

There are a lot of tournaments going on in DoW2 and about the online youre poorly mistaking there are a lot of people playing dow 2 and i have no trouble finding 1v1 2v2 3v3 and ffa mathces near 5pm. About the quantaty of the players in DoW 2 it doesn't have no life tennagers sitting 11 hours a day like the koreans do. Because popularity ruined DoW1 which is a piece of shit after DC.

dow2 2 is a good game but it has coop,and last stand and that starcraft 2 doesnt have,so dow2 will last more its more tactical its not as repetitve as starcraft 2 is terms of multiplayer
so at the end starcraft 2 is a better game but its also boring after a while

both fighting games, but one is reality based with 3 dimensional movement space and one is more fantasy fast paced 2d action.

DoW2 is better than SC2, because you can make different tactics with the same troops, and you can win with one great action ! Sc2 is a good game too, but not enough uses with the differents units !

@clem624 DoW is a true RTS, as strategy is a vital key in victory. Starcraft takes out ALL kinds of strategy and the winner is decided by whoever builds the most units fastest.
Warhammer utilizes morale and cover systems, and small team of specialists can take out a f*cking tank.
Starcraft has zerg rushes and unit spams.

I own both and I prefer SCII. Production values are obviously higher in StarCraft, and I enjoyed the plot and game play more. Online play, for me at least, is more competitive and fun as well in StarCraft. This is just my opinion tho.

SC2 is quite different than dow i think, you get all the races with just one game in multiplayer, but you get only one campaign. So you'll need just one to enjoy the full multi. There are also MANY modifications on multiplayer that make the game more enjoyable for years. Mods that make the game more like Metal Slug, or the famous DOTA rpg mods, or lots of tower defense mods and thousands to come, cuz they're player made. (there's a great game editor tool)

I'm a modder of the Dawn of War series, so dawn of war and 40k fans, stop ripping on SC2. Before Dawn of War I played SC. The reason why DOW is not as popular is because a lot of people love video games. The 40k universe started out as miniatures, so a lot couldn't relate to it. Starcraft 2 on the other hand already had SC and later Brood War. DOW2 is interesting, but the missions in the SC2 campaign are very unique. DOW2 only has few unique missions. But you gotta love their DOW2's graphics.

Its plain simple: Dawn of War II its a good game that will sell a couple of copies and will be played for 1 or 2 years, won't be an eSport and nobody will care by 2012.
In the other hand, Starcraft II will be played by millions for at least 10 years, and obviously will be the main attraction for many eSport events.

Not enough action for you? Waiting for building... uhh leave the practice league first, it slows the game down a lot for newbies :| you'd probably be dead against a 1v1 custom game hard AI opponent in 5 minutes ^^

Warhammer also has a deeper universe with far more intricate backstories for all the races, which are more original then anything Blizzard has ever put out.

Its not copying. Terra is Latin for earth. So they called Earth in Warhammer essentially the same thing... Terra. And Blizzard used Terra but added 'ans' to make a word like Earthlings to create a name for their race of Earth exiles the Terrans.
If anything, they both copied the Latin language.

Blizz games how ever fallow the rules of fantasy in the rts game warcraft 1 to 3. wow sux, just want to say that. But blizz sci fi starcraft is mutch diferent then 40k. I play both eldar in 40k and dark elf in old warhammer, so I know what I'm talking about. Blizz did not steal enything from Games workshop. Blizz to added more races that has never existed before like night elfs.

What makes dwarf to a dwarf. Dwarf is a small man that often looks like scandinavian vikings ( helmet with horns, the symbol of strength is the axe, the most famous weapon for a dwarf.
And about that part with zerg and tyranids, the both is supose to look like the classic look of an alien, vero organic, does not make zerg a copycat of tyranids.

@frodo9 Their names are not "irish" names, their names are based on whatever fucking language they speak. A dwarf is actually a NAME for a small person, NOT in mythological terms. And those aren't "Rules", those are just very formulaic versions of what they're "supposed" to look and act like. In fact, the Uruk-Hai from tolkien were originally elvish, so they could be considered a type of elf too.
"Classic look of an alien", there is no "CLASSIC" look unless your talking about the greys.
