  • So I can record my PS3 with Component in 720p?

  • @TM876Gaming Yes you can.

  • @Contreramanjaro Another question, will it work well with my computer also will it work well while livestreaming on my computer? Specs:

    Packard Bell iPower X9810

    * Intel® Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor

    * (2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB Cache)

    * Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium

    * 4GB DDR2 667MHz memory

    * 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce 9800GT

  • @TM876Gaming That's about the same power than my PC, so if you have the open PCI-E slot, it should work.

  • @Contreramanjaro Yeah I got an open PCI-E slot, Thanks alot for your help

  • @TM876Gaming No problem, good luck.

  • How good is the audio quality? I'd be using it more for Rock Band than anything, so I thought I would ask. It didn't sound too bad in the video but does it sound about the same or better freshly recorded?

  • @bowbowyoyo I think it's pretty good. I don't record in the highest quality I can but I have never had any complaints. The original file sounds better because YouTube cuts the quality a bit. I record in 256Kbps but you can do as much as 384 if you so desire. There are also a lot more codecs available with AVI if you want to get more into it.

  • if you record in 1080p for one hour how big is the file ?

  • @molotovcobra This product does not record 1080p.

  • @Contreramanjaro aha, what about 720p? cuz im thinking of getting one

  • @molotovcobra @1080i it would be most likely over 15gb.

  • @EXPLOSIVEEGG and @molotovcobra That's about right. You'd want to set up file splitting too as your video editor will whine with that huge a file if you make many cuts. Also, I'd recommend 720p for gaming, looked at your channel, because the frame rate gets cut with 1080i and looks bad on the preview and does some weird stuff on computer monitors and other 60p stuff.

  • @EXPLOSIVEEGG thanks

  • would this be better than capturing with fire wire

  • @MARINEfreak06 No, not really.

  • does it lags?

  • @TheMathockey A little bit yes.

  • I wonna buy this one, but my PC is slow and runs on Windows XP, is it still smart to buy this capture card?

  • @DemonShadow1009 I'd have to not recommend this card in your case. The capture process really takes a toll on your system and even puts some pressure on my quad core Windows 7 system.

  • @Contreramanjaro oke thanks for your reaction, but what capture card do you recommend for me, I dont want to go over the 120 euro BTW

  • @DemonShadow1009 From your channel, I'll assume you want to capture COD. There won't be many other HD cards and none for <120euro that will run well on your PC. You may want to start with a Dazzle or something though it won't be HD. If I were you I'd work on getting a higher end PC together before doing serious HQ capture. The main problem will be input lag for you with cheaper cards so you'll need a splitter most likely which will kill quality even more. I don't know your exact specifications..

  • @DemonShadow1009 so I can't say for sure. If you meet spec for the card you should be fine. Also remember that HD videos take a great deal of space and much more time to encode after editing. I'm sorry I can't be more help but I don't know your situation well enough to make any solid recommendations with any real confidence.

  • Check out my channel if you wanna see how the quality is on mw3 Thanks.

  • how did you get it for so cheap ?? they are so dear on that website?

  • @CommunityRewind When I got it back in 2010 it was $85 but it seems now they are closer to $100. It has somehow increased in value in over a year.

  • @Contreramanjaro that is like 85 euro for me any chance you could link me to a price like that ($100) cos i cant find any??

  • @CommunityRewind Hey, I updated the video description with some links. I posted the one I bought from, Newegg, and an Amazon link. They both end up around $100. I'm in the US but I hope this helps.

  • @Contreramanjaro yea it does but what if i have a laptop am i still able to plug in that chip?

  • @Contreramanjaro hey man do you actually put this into your computer or can you wire it up to a laptop

  • @CommunityRewind This particular one is not compatible with laptops. I put a new link in the description for a USB version of the product that will work with laptops though it is more expensive.

  • there is a lot of audio lag

  • @GamingDouche I've got the audio lag fixed. I was not rendering clips right during editing or something. Check out my newest videos for proof.

  • Does this work on laptops if not then what do I get

  • @dragjae55 This one in particular will not work on laptops. You need to get one that uses a USB port. There are a couple AVerTV products that do. Check their website. There are also some other options from Dazzle or Black Magic Designs.

  • @Contreramanjaro what if i have a hdmi splitter?

  • Very nice and informative review

  • hey for ps3 component cable, come the component cable in the Tv ??

  • @NeXuZSe7eN You plug the component cables from the PS3 into the capture card. If you want to play on a TV, you need a component splitter to have two sets of plugs.

  • @Contreramanjaro

but need my tv a component input ?

My tv has only a HDMI in put not a component input !

  • @NeXuZSe7eN You can view it on your computer but to use a splitter, yes you would need a component input on your TV.

  • can i use on mac?

  • @TehTechster nope.

  • @Contreramanjaro okay, thanks

  • @TehTechster may be if you use vmware

  • @theporkchopchannel Using VMWare will technically work however this card is a PCI-E card and will only work on the Mac Pro macs. My assumption is that if you have 3k+ to spend on a computer, there are way better options for Mac.

  • @Contreramanjaro do not know and for laptop that not 100% tru it will work on some laptop with a kit

kit run 800$ with out the card thear all so a diy way do it cheaper any way i sent you the info on how do it

  • Do you know if there is an HDMI version of this?

  • @PlagueRiddenGoat This version accepts HDMI inputs if that's what you mean.

  • can record a ps3 if i had this an component cables

  • @MrRePplay Yes.

  • where do u find this for only 85$

  • @csander33 I bought it on Newegg for that cost. It would appear that the price has increased to $99. Sorry for the misinformation.

  • @Contreramanjaro hm...back when i got it it was 65...

  • @AvianAzn Lucky!

  • How about not recording when playing a game? Is there the same lag?

  • @XenovannHellwolf Depending on your Pc it may be less. My hard drive is fast enough that there really isn't much lag either way to properly differentiate the two cases.

  • is that "little lag" you get so bad that it makes it unplayable? please respond. i might want to get a splitter if so

  • @FellowGaming I can play games just fine on my set-up. It only really becomes a problem when I get super competitive in fighting games or online FPS's. But for the most part, it's fine.

  • is there anyway to fix that audio lag ?

  • @xNightW0lfx The audio lag was a result of my inexperience with editing. Adobe CS4 with no experience, I was proud to just export the thing.

  • I know this thing doesnt records in 1080p, nor my tv supports 1080p, so im wondering if i can still record on my ps3 (1080i) with HDMI cables and a HDMI splitter?

    thanks

  • @odyseusgamer It will accept the signal in 1080i with a splitter, yes, however it will not record from HDMI unless you use a separate screen capture program. This is due to HDCP (blame Sony.) You can record 1080i through component no problem though.

  • @Contreramanjaro So if i want to record with HDMI cables (1080i) i need to use another program such as Fraps or VHcapture?

    thanks im subscribing

  • @odyseusgamer That's correct. Thanks for subscribing.

  • how does it do w/ a PS2? can it record in 16:9 Aspect ratio? (wide screen)

  • @mysticNTN I read your comment and I haven't yet tested the question. I have played the PS2 through component on here and 16x9 displays fine however with my current schoolwork I haven't had the free time to test out a 16x9 game recording. I should have some free time to do so soon. :)

  • @Contreramanjaro thank you for ur time.

  • @Contreramanjaro can u play via a hdmi?

  • @MrClydeinglis Yes.

  • Does it work on ps3

  • @ImWearingSocks409 Yes. But only records through Component, composite in the included software. HDMI is view only.

  • I think that dazzle does a very good job 2

  • @gordanzzzz I has a very nice picture for a non component or HDMI capture.

  • can i connect ps3 to hd-tv with hdmi and record my gameplay through component cable at the same time?

  • @Frost4k I'm quite certain you cannot.

  • @Frost4k No sir. I do believe this is all video I captured as is the point of this review.

  • @Contreramanjaro sorry i'm wrong it's your gameplay

  • can u use it on mac

  • @MrJackc8 nope. Windows only. :/

    Check out BlackMagic Design.

  • does it cost about 200 dollars

  • @silversladen1 Mine, the internal model cost about $80. The external USB model runs about 200.

  • Do you know how to stream using AVerTV HD DVR? I tried using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, but it just came up as a black blank screen for me when I tried.

  • @Thienthan Hello, after much trial and error I was able to use AFMLE. In the end I used a combination of VH Multi cam Studio and AFMLE. The biggest trick is that you need to open AVerMedia Center at the same time. You'll find with Adobe that there are actually two cam inputs from the card. the primary and secondary. These are either HDMI/Component and Composite/S-video. Select the opposite in AMC and then select the one you want in the multicam studio. Then select multicam as the camera in AFMLE

  • Aver didn't make this easy, I'll try to recap in flowchart form. If it's still unclear send me a personal message so I can provide so I can provide some more in depth info. Good luck.

[AMC(select opposite)] -> [VH Multi cam(add camera you want)] -> [AFMLE (select multicam)]

    camera names:

AVerMedia BDA Analog Capture - AMC or Multi cam

AVerMedia BDA Analog Capture Secondary - AMC or Multi Cam

    VHMultiCam - AFMLE

Download the VH Capture sofware. Google it, no links on YouTube.

  • Hey, Can i record games games from Ps3 with this capture card?

  • @ZoefoshoPS3 You can through component cables but not through HDMI.

  • @Contreramanjaro So therefore it won't come out as clear? Thankyou 4 your help

  • @ZoefoshoPS3 Yes, however the quality through component is still very good. I personally would have trouble spotting the difference.

  • Great review. Anyone know if I could use this to capture HD from Dish Network DVR?

  • @VicMorrowind You should be able to. HDMI may block you but component should be no problem. It does not have a cable card so you wouldn't be able to control your Dish box with it however.

  • @Contreramanjaro TY :)

  • whats the diff between this and the usb version?

  • @GenocidePsycho0 Nothing I can really tell. I haven't tried the USB version but all the specs are the same so my assumption is similar functionality. Sorry I can't really be of any more help.

  • Is it worth it? Also any idea if it is Mac compatible?

  • @IamButtersTheBear I think it's worth it for my purposes. It's not Mac compatible so if you wanted to use it on Mac you'd need to run bootcamp and get the USB version. At that point it may be better for you to get another brand that does support Mac.

  • What is this bootcamp? Can you download it from the web? (free)

  • @AngryEIite Boot Camp is included on pretty much every newer mac with Intel processors. Just search for Boot Camp Assistant in the Spotlight bar. It just allows you to have both Windows and MacOSX on you Mac at the same time. You will need a copy of Windows to install Windows though. There are plenty of tutorials for it elsewhere. I think Apple even has one.

  • Hhhhmmmm... Well, do you know any other Mac compatible HDMI capture cards?

Without having to install windows or buying eyeTV?

  • @AngryEIite a mac compatabile HDMI capture card is the blackmagic intesity pro, however this requires some stupid specs just google it and you should see it

  • Great Review ,The product looks great . The only thing that i am worry about is overheating . Some people are talking bout overheating problem . Is overheating a problem ? please reply thanks .

    I Subbed

  • @aliasad0007 Thanks for the sub man!

In general the card itself does very little work and actually produces very little heat when compared to a graphics card or something. No work is done on the card. While recording however, it will make your PC work very hard. Simply put, if your PC can already take it when running hard, you should have no problem. I don't and I only have 2 case fans. If you're still concerned I can look up my actual temps, but heat hasn't been a problem here.

    Sam.

  • @Contreramanjaro Thanks .

  • @Contreramanjaro Oops sorry my bad I was talking about its usb version where all the work is done by the recorder itself .

  • @aliasad0007 Ahh. No problem. Good luck though.

  • Great Review ,The product looks great . The only thing that i am worry about is overheating . ISome people are talking bout overheating proble . Is overheating a problem ? please reply thanks .

    I Subbed

  • is component pretty much the same as HDMI? is there really a big difference

  • @MrGameReviews There isn't too big a difference, but there is one. They will both do HD but HDMI is all digital and will have a slightly superior picture.

  • @Contreramanjaro can this work on a laptop

  • @awesomeness4441 The version of the card I used is Desktop only however there is a USB version that should work on laptops.

  • The ps3 CAN have the same quality like the xbox, shown in this video right?

  • @ZeroHeroVids Yes. I just didn't have any component or HDMI cables I could use at the time. PS3 looks beautiful in HD.

  • @Contreramanjaro Thanks for the quick response. I was like; hey? Isn't the ps3 supported?

  • is it just me or is the sound a bit off?

  • @o2FRESH4u it gets off synced on youtube's part

  • i say... you give a great review man i subbed, but i only have one problem... befor actually give a product a review, i would make sure i could review every feature of it before judging it for example you didn't test hdmi quality, i have seen 720 and 1080i or (p) they use a third party program like VHCapture with the aver media it allows yu to capture higher quality and thank you for the review i subscribed! :)

  • @DahBreezy I saw VHCapture about a week ago and plan to give it a look. Thanks for the sub and I'll try to get up a better review (I like that idea), like a five weeks later type of thing. Two problems I had when doing this was things like a lack of PS3 component cables and hardware problems that would cause my PC to lock up when I used HDMI (PSU under powered.) These have since been resolved and I can do a lot more now. Thanks again for the view/comment/sub and feedback.

    Sam.

  • Just wondering how big a 10min 720p video would be. (Say, for uploading to Youtube)

  • @farmhousemedia3000 Hello Farmhouse Canadian Gamer. Well to answer your question I have to ask about what format. For me I render my videos MPEG-4 from Adobe before uploading them so I can do editing. A 10 minute 720p from there is about 300-500MB. Straight from my card which records in MEPG-2 you'll be looking at somewhere between 800MB and 1GB (that's why I render to MPEG-4.) Thanks for the watch and as a side note, I like your casual game reviews. I'll be happy to be more specific if needed.

  • @Contreramanjaro - Thanks for the input, I just bought this card.

  • @farmhousemedia3000 Good for you. Hope it works out. I've been working with it for about a month now, so I've got most of the kinks worked out, if you have any trouble send me a message. Just remember download the new software immediately. Bye.

  • Audio was off a bit.. but still good for it's price.

  • @MrPistolero97onlive This is true. Normally the higher quality the feed, the further off the audio is. Even at 720p though, the audio never was really a noticeable issue.

  • does this capture card work with iMacs?

  • @TheStormRaiders Nope. Only Windows. Also iMacs lack the appropriate PCI-e ports.

  • do i need component cables or can i use composite for xbox 360

  • @Gmodvids You can use either. Component cables or HDMI are necessary for HD but both cables will work just fine.

  • yeah i have this card...ill post how to set it up with other video encoders/software...you can get everything over hdmi =P

  • @AvianAzn That would be awesome, thanks.

  • just bought this after trying the BlackMagic Intensity Pro, which is completely incompatible with Intel i7 motherboards. Hopefully this one will work

  • @xCmOn3yx2 Sorry for your luck. Let me know how it turns out, I think since this one doesn't really do too much hardware encoding stuff you should be alright but I'm not sure. The BlackMagic was second in line for me, but the cost benefit on this one was just too good.

  • lmao @ the kids on halo. Great review broseph!

  • @Nickels53 Halo kids are awesome.
