  • swear ive heard some1 play exactly the same thing

  • Sweep picking = not for me. I like the sound of bluesy pentatonic licks, and schredy metal legato better.

  • ive spending 10 years playing guitar and you make me look bad.

  • OH NO NOT ANOTHER ADVERTISEMENT!

  • wow dude awsome carvin, ive been thinking about getin one, does your shred like a monsta?

  • awesome stuff. anyone know what make/model the guitar is? i hate that finish with a passion on any guitar, but a black finish would look amazing with that neck

  • nice sweeps i have an original sweep song called 13th hour on my channel

  • roo's a serious bad ass i tryed to do it half as slow and after i stopped laughing at my self i practiced some moore

  • you're great,, ty so much Roo rock on! \,,/

  • WONDERFUL CHANNEL THANKS!THE OTHER CHANNELS DON'T HAVE TABLATURES AND THERE ARE A SHIT!

  • good lesson man,

    i was wondering,is that a midi guitar?

  • Nice lesson I am trying to work on sweep skills so this helped, cool licks as well.

  • Do you fags accuse all of your teachers of 'just showing off?'

  • roo kicks#$@%

  • THE GUY WHO MADE THE VIDEO JUST WANT TO SHOW OFF

  • When you play the full up and down C arpeggio, you aren't doing it exactly as you explained in your tutorial part 1 image.

According to your image above, the last part of the down sweep is 2 notes on E1 with a down stroke and hammer on and the first part of the up sweep is 2 more notes on E1 with a upstroke and pull off.

I've listened to you playing that fast number of times and also slowed it down, you aren't doing 4 notes on the E1 string???

  • I don't want to buy any Insurance you lame fags!

  • Wow. You just play arpeggios. What a noob...

  • @mongoferd im sorry but your videos suck shit so dont call this guy a noob

  • @mysteryrocker123 I know. my vids are the worst ever cause they were my first try. If you are at facebook go to search and search In Confusion. Watch the vid. Its my band

  • love the carvin

  • Is there any secret to this technique outside of proper pick holding and fretting? In other words, can I just practice general speed and have sweeping come naturally? Or is this a whole separate sort of move?

  • @kristofor12345 It's a whole other animal. Gotta practice the technique in order to sweep.

  • @kristofor12345 as edvhou said, its a whole other animal, but trust me, work on your finger speed and shredding, learn to play some metallica songs like master of puppets, or one.. just fast ones, then get them down, to the every note, when you can do that, practicing sweeping seems pretty basic and then its just a matter of practicing.. without frustration :P

  • this is basic.

  • How long should it take to get decent at sweeping if you only played for 3 months?

  • @Guru0931 depends on the person. some people learn faster than others. and depends how much you practice.

  • @Guru0931 You shouldn't start trying to sweep pick when your only 3 months in. You should still be either learning or developing skills. I tried that and it never worked out. It has been about a year now and I am progressing pretty good with sweeping

  • YOUR SO GOOD!!!

  • i like the lesson..thanx

  • Hey, just one question, can it be played with legatto, or you have to pick all the strings?

  • that was pretty cool!

  • the metronome is really damn annoying

  • very good lesson, this helped me a lot ;)

  • i like it, you do it very well, thanx for adding... good job

  • gayest guitar

  • Comment removed

  • I really like your lessons! I've subscribed and will continue to look forward to more lessons. I've been trying to up my playing and learn new tricks so I can play metal faster. A lot of lessons on youtube don't break it down as easily as you do. And the tabs are much appreciated. I print them up and put them in my guitar case so I can always practice. Keep up the good work! :)

  • i can play rythm reel good but cant wrap my head around lead mabey i should stick to vocals

  • pretty inlay....

  • sweep_the.leg

  • OH NO NOT ANOTHER SWEEPING LESSON!

  • @dirtydonki Mine is different :)

  • @RomainChapus I know and actually very good. LOL

  • @dirtydonki He shows the licks in slow motion which should be enough for somebody at the level of guitar playing to even be watching this video. The tabs are also in the description, this is a good "lesson" if you will. Obviously nobody shows note-for-note videos on sweeping because if you can't follow through simply watching the video you need to re-evaluate your guitar playing ability.

  • hes fitted a Fernades sustainer 401 kit to that guitar, all that ever lasting sustain aids a great deal when shredding!

  • once u get it down a few times it becomes natural

  • your videos are really helpful dude. thanks for them all. ive really been able to imprve but it takes a lot of practice.

  • helps alot thanks man

  • he is a great guitarrist for why?

  • @juanmorenojuanjo Cause he rocks man now go fuck yourself

  • lol i thought the first one gunna be the hardest then i saw the tab these must be good for people who are just starting tough

  • This guys a monster, what a picker....

  • thnz kamote.........

  • Awesome ! Now what kind of effects do you use do get this type of sound do you have any compression sustain pedal?

don't take me as an annoying dude please . i've been play guitar for over 13 years but only now i started to play electric guitar , that's why I'm asking all this questions ... and please forgive if i don't write a good english it's because it's not my first language peace in Jesus Christ . brother

  • you'll find sweeping and that type of stuff much easier if you switch to you neck pickup...im pretty sure that's what most of the sound is comin from

  • dude you are sick ! really good you skills one day i'll be just a third of what you know . than i'll be really happy with my skills ... nice work ..... how did you get so quick ? how many hours do you practice per day ?thank

    peace in Christ ....

  • A lot of time dude. I play for hours every day. not all at once, but I play for maybe 20 minutes multiple times a day.

I know I'm not the guy who uploaded this vid, but I do arpeggios this fast, and it takes quite a bit of practice. hardest part is getting your hands to sweep, and fret the notes simulntaneously. also, I've found that no matter how many videos I watched like this, I never learned nearly as well as if i had someone who could show me in person. :) oh and I love jesus. just saying

  • Jesus is the BEST! I love doing arpegios as well, but the kind of guitar you have can either make or break ya, in my opinion. I can do good sweeps with my shredder, but when I move to my hollow body and try it, it is just not the same.

  • very very nice vidéo !!! ^^

  • @ 1:24 no one does that. I wish he would use a more valid example. I knlow how to use these in a song. But that stupid old sounding bluesy riff doesn't do the arpeggio justice. If this guy sweeps while playing blues like this, then more power to him. But it's a little more than rediculous to me.

  • Haha I agree. I mean it fits in the framework of the theory but I was expecting the song to build more. He just went and played the sweep and I thought, "Oh, alright then."

  • Yeah exactly. I mean it gets the point across, I guess it's short and sweet. the application of the arpeggio just struck me as a bit silly. :D

  • I think that it put a unique twist on a traditional blues. I didn't see it coming either, but I thought it was an intriguing way to add diversity. In my opinion, at least.

  • Nice Carvin

  • Did you read the tutorial in the description box before posting this?

  • Comment removed

  • nice

    wat guitar is that?

  • Carvin DC I think

  • it is

  • nice

  • i am definitley going to learn the first one

  • instead of returning to your root note make it a half step down and do a little vibrato it would make it a little tastier

  • -thinks- yea, it would.

  • im trying to learn the first lick and is it so that i got to play it slow first and move it up to learn it in the right speed?

  • of course

every song that you try to learn you need to play slow first(sorry for my bad english)

  • your english is perfect

  • holy shiat

  • shit

  • it is music. if you are to learn you must be objective. if you are closed minded what will you learn? this kind of thing was not free 10 years ago soo great job!

  • NICE TABS! -_-!

  • it sounds awesome, really, despite other comments

  • does that say carlsbro on your headstock/

  • I says carvin lol

  • FUCKK

  • sounds pretty cool. i tried that 2 month sweep challenge, i gave up like the 3rd day. im so lazy and i always get tempted to start playing other songs

  • then guitar is the wrong instrument for u

  • no just sweep picking isnt for me

  • then guitar is the wrong instrument for u

  • Sweeping arpeggios(with feeling) is Awesome! And if you dont like it why are you watching a arpeggio sweeping video?

  • im saying like i guess sweep picking isnt my thing... it sounds so awesome just hard for me to get down.

  • i would buy a new fucking amp before i bought a metal zone pedal

  • ....cybereaper you're trying to prove a point about someone being stupid. yet you spell idiot "itiot" good going.

  • is that anything like idgit ?

  • u dont sweep a country ass song. u do that in metal

  • U can sweep in any type of music dumbass...

  • PUNK

  • his sound is so cool

  • you guys dont have to be dicks to him

  • Nice emg's

  • yes... im serious

  • Jesus what a stupid question

    but i will answer

MOST amps come with distortion if it does there will be a button that says HIGH GAIN or OVERDRIVE are what mine say

IF it does not come with distortion then you need a pedal i prefer BOSS METAL ZONE which is fantastic

    NEed any more help?

  • hey i need some help...i haven't had anybody be a dick to me in a while...maybe you can help? how bout this...can you tell me why a metal zone doesn't suck? you fucking douche? there...that should give you something to go off of.....GO!

  • Never said it does suck dipshit

if your trying to be a smartass

i was just trying to help this itiot

  • yeah i know...and i was saying it does. ass. but mainly just giving you a topic so you can amaze me with your infinite wisdom. just stop being a little bitch to people...what makes you so fuckin high and mighty to think you can just go around blessing people with your knowledge. piss off, wanker.

  • o u called me a wanker i am so offended

Im not acting high and mighty i just answered a stupid question and everybody gets mad? wtf

  • this guys probably just started playin. cut him some slack man

  • omg, is killerwario being serious :L, idoit

  • hey, don't be an ass how else do you learn but by asking annother? i'm sure you were no masterful god and all powerful all knowing being when you first started playing!

  • holy shiz niz man you rock thanks

  • how do you use distortion with amp?!!

  • ur joking right?

  • good stuff, thanks for the video man

  • do you need pedal for shredding guitar?

  • either a pedal or a peavy vyper amp

  • maybe a distortion pedal or you could just use distortion from your amp

  • no.

  • i laughed when he wrote 'how to use this lick in a situation'

imagine this: you see a hot girl and you want to talk to her, so you prepare youself for the 'situation'. whip out your guitar and start sweeping! xD

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha i died!!!

  • first one sounded like top gun solo

  • awesome lesson

i can sweep over 6strings now xD

    thnks dude xD

  • What pickups are those and are you playing a carvin guitar?

  • EMGs

  • he should have put it all

    together.. it would sound

    a lot better that way.

  • Man, I love that guitar.... Got me a little Carvin tube amp myself.... Maybe I should look into getting a Carvin guitar to go along.

  • great quality, and you can find some for cheap! Go for it. Careful though: they had the bad habit to but floyds but no lock nuts...

  • lies.

  • lies lies lies,

  • prove it.

  • he shows you how its played then gives you the tab, what more do you want?

  • nice is that a carvin

  • I believe so!

  • how long did it take you to learn how to sweep pick like that

  • that looks like a westone pantera with a diff neck and pickups on it but it is a carvin... never mind lol saw the headstock

  • 0:40 awesome part goanna practicew that

  • very good for me :)

  • u r the man roo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey jut one question ?

I know that you change where you pick depending on what type of bridge you have . But is there a superior picking position (Bridge picking) 0r (Neck Picking)

  • There really isnt a "superior" picking position. Pick however you feel comfortable.

  • Hey man! Well, when I shred, I sooner use the neck pick up in the higher octave register, and in the lower, I switch over the my neck. When I play power chords and stuff, I use bridge. So solos usually in neck, and rhythm in bridge. Works wonders for me, cheers. :)

  • Yeah thats what I do too, but I think bardshred was asking about where to actually position the pick when picking. Like buccaneersfan1034 said, there's not a "superior" picking position and you should just pick how you feel comfortable. BUT, I found that regardless of what pickup you have selected, picking closer to the neck pickup and neck gives you a smoother/clearer sound, and picking by the bridge pickup gives a more trebley sound. You can switch between both positions to get your own sound!

  • Oups, quick correction from my previous message, I meant to say in the lower octave I prefer the bridge pick up, not the neck! And yeah, my bad haha, I must have mis read it! This past month hasn't really been my brightest! Had a bad first live performance... broke a string.... it was terrible!

  • Oh man that sucks about the string breaking, but you had it right the first time though...i knew you meant you used the bridge pup for lower notes and neck pup for high notes. I was saying the guy wasn't asking about pickups but simply where the pick strikes the strings (I think) I was just saying that if you pick near the bridge position, the sound is brighter and more gritty sounding, and if you pick near the neck position, the sound is clearer and smoother regardless of the pup selected.

  • Oh man, it really sucked hardcore! But it's alright, people laughed haha, so it was better than nothing! And ah okay haha, well it's all good, he'll learn by himself anyway, it's the way I learned it, just by practicing! :)

  • this is awsome dude

  • very nice

  • Cool, man.

  • good and hard =]

  • thats what she said

  • Does anybody know where to find the tablature on this? It says its in the "description" but I cant even find where it says that..thanks

  • On the right hand side of the video... that's the description (where it says more info or 'less info'...) there are some links to a filesharing site, and you find the tabs there:)

  • very nice very nice. nice bluess sound

  • you shred bro!!! keep at it :) :) :)

  • you officially deserve to go to hell. Amen.

  • you are a trendy ass fanboy faget.
