  • Well, you have to dream things up first before you can make it a reality. As primitive as this looks, this is only about 8 years before the Apple II

  • Well, I don't think they knew JUST how much the web would be capable of but they got the idea spot-on. Maybe they could have added, "The kids will be able to share music without paying for it" and you see this 8 track or record player hooked to it...

  • I am going to guess early to mid 60's on this film. To think in the 70's the very earliest home computers would start showing up on the market. The 80's saw standardization in computing. The 90's saw the Internet reaching the masses. The 2000's saw smart phones. I wonder what's next...

  • Lolololol.. We do all this in ONE computer.. not many like they show here

  • Anybody know what this is from?

  • Was that Wink Martindale as the husband?

  • order me a belt to beat you with...

  • reminds me of the tv-series "LOST"

    :-]

  • so much misogyny smh

  • it's raining???

  • that computer has 3 way sli

  • This wasn't the internet but it was close

  • Note: Flat (Apple looking??) screens in 1969.

  • This tape will self destruct in 5 seconds. Good luck Jim.

  • Wow teh early slideshows..

  • It's good to know that stereotypes were alive and well in our WILDEST DREAMS of the future.

  • WOW! Everything is spot on, EXCEPT the "scans the computer every 2 seconds for problems and inserts backup circuits if theres a problem". If you replace "problems" with virus, the entire video would be 100% accurate.

  • @jci10 Remember the circuits where probably where the hard drives witch software backs up data when there is going to be a problem like a Raid setup

  • Wait... wasn't the internet made in the 1990s? This is the 1960s.

  • @sonicfangamer2 The first use of the term "internet" was in 1974, but it was conceived and had it's beginnings as early as the 1950's. The 1960's saw mostly colleges and scientific (and military/government) sources using "the internet". It became commercially big in the 90's though, like you said. The ideas were there, they just didn't know how to get there yet!

  • I think this is the 1st inter net in 1969. Now we have

iphone, Ipod and Computers and laptops

  • amazing how accurate they were to the future, pending the right technology :|

  • Just imagine to have all that junk in your home instead your laptop, desktop, console, video.... :>

  • Internets are serious business!

  • 0:46 "...She left the kitchen?"

  • So... if cameras scanned the wares, does that mean if one person was browsing, the other would have to wait their turn??? Literally hundreds of others??

Also why would the dad owe taxes? Did they not pay sales tax at the same time as the purchase?

  • @OFP1Painkiller It's science fiction. Going back in time :)

  • It's f'n hilarious how the "Man" is still the ultimate deciding factor in the household! Those were indeed the good old days!

  • There a lot of things never seen in the 20th century!

  • i wanna go back in time and bring my laptop they would be like WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @667Atlas No bring your iPhone, show them you can make calls, get online, take pictures and video, play movies, listen to music, send text, send pictures and and video, paid bills online, etc, And the device is touch screen and it fits in your pocket. They be like WTH..LOLZ

  • @4u250ut You can call other ppl with the iPhone?

  • lol husbands like " im leavin this bitch!"

  • @mahdidi96 I was thinking just about the same thing lmao

  • I like how upset the husband looks. hehe He seems to really hate when his wife buys stuff online. Maybe she's breaking his bank.

  • No wonder why there where so many spousal abuse case's back in the 60's & 70's "The wife orders what she want's then the husband pay for it" The look on his face when he see's the receipt haha WTF I'd kill a bitch LMAO

  • but did they predict the true purpose for the internet? porn...

  • Kind of reminds me of the Flintstones...they sort of knew what they wanted, but didn't really have any idea of the technology.

  • The sad thing is the interface is more user friendly than anything we've come up with since!

  • @jabailo but it seems that you need a dedicated computer for each program

  • funny how science fiction becomes reality. All of this stuff is now possible and more and yet at the time i'm sure this was met with disbelief. Makes you wonder what we can accomplish in the future, that is if we can manage to not destroy ourselves.

  • The look on the mans face at 0:46 is priceless ;P

  • who made this back in 1960s and for what purpose?

  • Might as well get a Univac, and reinforce the flooring so the house doesn't cave in.

  • don't let the wife have a computer.. problem solved

  • How long will we have to wait for these conveniences of the future?

  • What game show host did they use for this ? Know his face but can't remember his name. No offense guy, sorry.

  • @Razorwing67 Wink Martindale

  • What this video doesn't show is the 4th screen which is twice the size of the three other screens and is known as the Pornographic Motion Picture Viewing Console.

  • @funnybuoy13 We didn't see that one, because that's the one in your room. They didn't go in there because they knew you'd be practicing on yourself with a strap-on attached to your desk chair. And well frankly, the obvious awkwardness aside, they felt it would be too anachronistic for audiences to see a a three hundred pound lard-ass with a dildo in his ass...because the rest of the family is so svelte.

  • @SenorCajones hahaha!Well first of all, try halving that 300 hundred lbs - I had to google what 300 lbs was as I'm such a dumbass I use kilograms. And it's probably you who is the lard ass american, sat at home eating your tv dinner while making your way through countless you tube videos insulting people to make yourself look funny and reassure yourself that your life doesn't suck (which I'm sure it does if that's how you have to pass your time), hoping for a response just so you can feel alive.

  • @funnybuoy13 It's 136 kgs.

  • @patriotofliberty1776 They forgot the console showing youtube, where twats like you are still thinking that cliches make you seem funny.

  • Eyefinity..

    AAAAAAAWWWWWW YEEEAAAAAHHH

  • She will DDoS your sorry ASS!! lol

  • AHH, the early days of the internet, it was calm and peaceful and totally not gay.

  • The internet is actually not as new as some people would have you believe. I lived through that era (1969 onward) and I personally know some people who had computer terminals in their home and working, that way, on the internet (or computer networks as we called them). The innovation was the development of much faster computer chips that allowed individual microcomputers by the early 1990s to have the processing capabilities of the older mainframes. But, the principle was in existence by 1969.

  • @Scottrchrdsn And did they shop online in 1969? Chat with prostitutes in Malaysia? That's the internet people are referring to. I think everyone is aware that there were networks as early as 1856.

  • @SenorCajones And, why, SenorCajones, did you mention the activity of "chatting with prostitutes in Malaysia"? I find that part of the comment somewhat...unusual. The internet was certainly NOT developed in order for people to perform that activity! As to the remainder of your comment; certainly we could not do as much with the net then as one can do today but much more was done (mainly in research) than what most internet users today assume was done in 1973.

  • cool they predicted online banking!

  • "What the wife selects on her console will be paid for on the husbands counterpart console" lol.

  • I am going to start saying eCorrespondence instead of email. :3

  • If this is how it would've been set up for the simple task of online shopping, I'd hate to see how many workstations he'd be using to look at porn.

  • Comment removed

  • wow the guy had to turn 2 dials and push god knows what just to get his screen/projector to come on. Surely they would have predicted a simple 'ON' switch lol

  • I noticed that the guy seemed to have a kid - but wasn't wearing a wedding ring. Hum ... - and he was left-handed!

  • LOL could you Imagine if they saw the bullshit on the internet today? xD

  • This is so neat! Our imaginations are not limited by the technology and ideas of our age! (only if we allow them to be). A philosopher in ancient Greece (I'm sorry, I just forgot his name) thought of the concept of Atoms several years before the idea was ever brought up again! (and of course before the first microscope).

  • We can do all of that today so they were right - Of course not in that form of machinery but the concept is pretty much the same.

  • Science FICTION! None of those ideas will EVER see fruition...

  • Was this a concept presentation? Did any of those machines actually work? Or were they props to present the concepts? Either way, it's very interesting. The '60s had ARPAnet, but not the internet, per se. Still, pretty cool.

  • Strangely, not a single mention of the sheer amount of LOLcats.

  • What will they think up next.

  • LCD's they have LCD's! :O

  • 1:02 Eyefinity . . .

  • What are the husbands other two screens used for? hmmmm ...

  • @itsxmyxtube for porn. lol

  • @itsxmyxtube Sexy videochat;;)

  • But will it Blend?

  • @ 1:00 He forgot to shut down Windows. Now it's gonna ask him whether or not he wants to boot Windows normally or in safe mode.

  • the internet's no fun anymore

  • it just goes to show that everything we use today, has roots going further back than you think. sometimes a lot further

  • To think all of the devices shown on this video can now fit in the palm of your hand with today's technology.

  • Damn not self sufficient woman.

  • It sure has come a long way after all these years..

  • Al Gore was way ahead of his time as a kid...

  • Looks like Wink Martindale!

  • it could probaly run minecraft

  • does anyone have this vinyl lp? there had to be a record of this hahahahah

  • Fake

  • @Success2gether *facepalm* SOMEONE is thick

  • ....Or you can just use your visa on Amazon.

  • 240p, This really IS from 1969 :D just kidding :)

  • Dave, what are you doing? Dave.

  • Clark7795,

what is this from? what is the title of the full film and who made it? do you know?

  • didnt think computer screens were that advance then :/

  • Poor women of that society-draft. What you sourly buy nevertheless seen as an irrational burden for the husband? :'

  • lol back up circuit

  • The guy has 3 computers on his desk, but 1 is dedicated to monitoring his wife's purchases!

  • @JohnnyLucero13 priorities XD

  • @JohnnyLucero13 It took four years for someone to make this "observation"? My, what an intelligent numbnut you are. Do you get paid for writing such asshole comments?

  • Kimda reminds me of the intro to The Jetsons when George offers Jane a few dollars, but she grabs his wallet...

  • LOL, reminds me of in Family Guy when he takes the wallet back and tosses her out of the car.

  • HAHAAHHA LOVE IT.

  • Interesting that they depict flatscreen monitors when they only became standard in the last few years.

  • @cbohar84 Korean population has more acces to the Internet than American people do...... Mainly cause they play Starcraft

  • @CrASYmUZIk Starcraft. Pretty cool game, but the Koreans take it a little too far. I saw a video about Korea's # 1 Starcraft "champion". Aside from making about $500k per year in winnings & endorsements, we has quite a following. He get's more ass than a hip-hop/rap or NBA star. At some competitions, there are thousands of people watching on huge CCTV's. It's like a big concert/sporting event. Insane. I don't know if it's still like that anymore, or if they moved on to SC2.

  • @gjc82071

    Only in Korea...

  • It doesn't have Aero Glass, and it cost to me 100000000 dolars fucking shit S:

  • no MP3 Downloads? how could they miss that?

  • can it run crysis

  • oh by the way, clean out your garage because all that equipment will be going in there by mid 1970.

  • That does look a lot like the modern internet, but with less porn.

  • @clark7795 I would like to see some reference or source of the video you have uploaded, it is very interesting

  • It missed a very important part. "Husband can watch porn anytime."

  • the fuck , are these flatscreens?

  • This is well done .. I mean thi sis the fucking 60's and they imagined FLAT screens !! thats fucking pro !!

  • shopping for warez

  • very well supported these PC Battlefield 3

  • Nice eyefinity setup..

  • More stable than a Macbook

  • I wish I knew the jazzy tune in the backround...

  • @truesteban090 Fuck you BF3 PC fanboy

  • @NforcaToldya when wear how hard how fast

  • @NforcaToldya Fuck you cod noob bitch

  • @MrAircraft999 I don't play cod pussy but I dont play boring battlefield either

  • @truesteban090

COD's engine is decent. Not shitty at all.

Only close-minded bastards like you think that popular games is always shitty...

The shitty thing is not game, nor its engine. Its people who hate and who express their fanboyness.

If it is shitty then why millions of people happily enjoy it?

Why don't you say that Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing engine is bad?

  • @pufixas because i dont get attention if i state the obvious you dim witted nincompoop.

  • @truesteban090

oh so you are attention whore...?

    O.K...

  • @pufixas no i just state intelligent facts that surpass your mental abilities perhaps you should read a book and smarten up little one, you still have much to learn before your ready...

  • @truesteban090 Meanwhile you might try looking up "your" in the dictionary and tell us how it fits into this context. Also, try capitalizing a first person personal pronoun or two in your lifetime.

  • @SenorCajones its the internet not an english class, don't get all butthurt and try to play mr intelligent.

  • @truesteban090

Exactly. It's the internet; not an English class. Therefore, I shouldn't have to read something five times just to understand what you're saying.

  • @iloldirl pretentious douche is pretentious

  • 0:05 - 0:20 EBay

  • omg "Electronic Correspondance Machine" E-MAIL! in my '69?

  • But where's the pR0n?

  • I was born that year...MIND BLOWING to think the internet was even a concept at the time. remember, in 1969, Sesame Street was banned in Mississippi because children of different races were shown playing together.

  • @90038jhon Wow. I guess technology moves foward, but sometimes people move backward, or take a long time to move at least. Sesame Street banned, that's crazy. I wish I could watch the older episodes (that includes Electric Company too). Even the ones from when I was little--which was not that long ago--are better than the ones now (the ones now have too many new characters and they're selling out to mainstream crap more than ever).

  • Wife inputs creditcard to console

    Husband purchases console

  • What they forgot: PORN!

  • "what wife selects husband pays"

    I see nothing has changed

  • Comment removed

  • that era is so fucked up

  • @tasos853 You are obviously someone who did not experience that era. Even Peter Fonda commented on how much cooler things were back then. And since that time: Degradation of the world on many fronts, economy, environment, socially and more. About the only thing that has improved are the computers. Most of what is good and new is not in the mainstream and one has to dig hard to find it. Like where is a decent rock radio station? Ha ha... Back then FM radio was king, some great TV too.

  • If I was around back then and heard about this, I would of NEVER believed it... but here we are...

  • It's amazing how spot-on they were.

  • WINK MARTINDALE!!

  • They actually had a fairly good idea about the future.

  • I bet North Korea is just catching up with this technology

  • @cbohar84

You're right. They can't go onto YouTube.

  • Why did 'the husband' turn the toggle switch?

  • They obviously didn't think through all of the form factor / GUI issues, but it suggests somebody assumed there would only be so many Internet "channels" - or maybe they thought slim CRTs would require tint adjustments!

Even in the 1960s there were enough banks that you couldn't just expect to turn to "the bank channel" unless you pre-arranged it with the Carrier: 1969 was only a year after the FCC's Carterfone decision; before AT&T still could prevent the sale of even replacement handsets.

  • It's this from the movie "1999"? I've been trying to find that film for a while now. It was very interesting how well it predicted the future of technology.

  • Where was the porn console?

  • dont think your gonna be playing battlefield 3 on this

  • How the heck did we ever get along without a laptop and the Internet?

  • If only they knew you can do all of this with without wires haha

  • @clank1 Not only that, but back then I don't think they could contemplate "digital" graphics. The wife is shopping online & "once there, a *camera* will scan...". So, no digitized pictures. They actually envisioned a real remote controlled camera with a link to your monitor. The limiting factor in that setup is, 1 camera, per person, per item. You could never get a mass volume of people shopping "online" like that. You'd need 1000's of individual cameras for each item/shopper. :-P

  • @gjc82071 Id imagine only analog video existed back the. Maybe they were thinking based on a microfiche machine

  • @gardnerbm Yes. Analog only. But even if it was microfiche/film, in order for more then 1 person @ a time to view it, you'd still need many analog TV cameras. 1 for each customer who is "online"/at the store. In any event, it would be very limited. Even if you had say, 100 cameras. And a setup that size would take up entire rooms.

  • @gjc82071 Well according to the video its like analog TV. many can watch the channel with one video feed from the one camera per channel camera

  • @gardnerbm Yes...many @ once can watch the channel, w/1 video feed/camera, per channel,....but per single item. So even if the all items were on microfilm, for many people to see 1 feed/item, you would need 1 camera per item. If you wanted the ability to in any way control the camera (to view different films), you'd need 1 camera per person. In any event, you'd need a lot of cameras. The subject is moot anyway, although it's interesting & fun to speculate/chat about, hehehe :-)

  • Husband was all like "fucking bitch, spending all my money!"

  • How does one spam flag the garbage telemarketer video responses?

  • Sorta accurate... as I'm not for tights... why couldn't we of side tracked to... FUCKING LOGAN'S RUN! RENEW THE STUPID BASTARDS...

  • "Communal Service Replacement Agency"? You mean the Chinese guy down the road that also sells paint?

  • lcd?

  • I dont understand why someone did that :-D

  • When in 2011 are we getting a pre-conce
