I tried to find your other vidieos, parts,2,3,4,5,6 and 7, but I couldn't find them. I typed in the whole title but that did't help either. I can only find your first and your eight vidieo.
Most of the videos were rather repetitive, made every time I finished a few pipes, so removed some. This one shows how I'm checking the tuning. If you look at my video page, you can see a video showing how I made my keyboard and windchest in detail, and also a video of my organ being played, although still unfinished. I'm still working on it, and will post more as I go.
There is a better way to tune. Since you obviously have a computer. All you need is a microphone and a free program called tunelab. With the program you can even define a stretch tuning.
Great job! I've been building guitars for a few years now, been wanting to get into making some keyed instruments for myself. Was debating what to make...Clavichord, harpsichord, fortepiano, organ, etc.. These videos made my find up! I will try to get a 4 note test setup going asap, like you first made.
So great to see another home-built organ coming together. Do you plan on adding tuning shades to the pipes once you're done? It seems it would be the easiest way to fine-tune the tiny pipes. Keep up the great work!
I've seen some people that have small pieces of wood mounted with a singe srew in the top of the pipe. You can rotate the piece over the opening to lower the pitch if your pipe is to short. On some of my pipes that I cut a little too short, I have hot glued small pieces inside the opening.
Whenever I get a new idea for my "someday" list, I think an old one gets pushed out the back somewhere. The trick is trying to combine as many ideas into one project as you can.
Wow, lookiing like a real organ now !! - could get you $30000 when its complete.. if you really want to go down to business.. rather than pleasure when its done.
But I think your daughter may have fallen in love with it.

Thanks, I'll look into that. The guitar tuner is just something I already had and worked better than my ear.

Thanks, I think she is upset with me for not building at least two octaves together yet so she could play some kind of real song!
