  • Yay! can I come over if the shtf?

  • Another food preservation method to consider is to dehydrate it, esepcially from your garden. Dehydrated foods not only last FOREVER but they take up way less room and are easier to transport in larger quantities if you would need to leave your home. The downside is that to rehydrate you need water. But if you're properly prepared, that shouldn't be too big an issue.

  • People hungry enough will come knockin on your door. Piss enough people off, and they will look for your well to contaminate it. You WILL be defending your property/well. I believe it will get this bad

  • This is a very good start. Just a few things I'd like to add from various observations. BUY LOW SODIUM CANNED ITEMS. They are out there. If you did have to survive on the everyday stash, you will begin to feel the effects of a VERY high sodium diet within 30 days.

Communications! At the least, get a 400-600 watt combo battery chrgr/inverter, and a solar powered chrgr for that. A GOOD radio, 2 way if possible. RECHARGEABLE batteries, and their chrgr. A Shotgun/rifle, Ammo, board games

  • Oh ,I saw you have corn ..umm don't buy corn because you're body isn't gonna digest it , we eat corn jsut for the taste and look on food , just a little tip :)

  • Tip : Buy fod that lasts for 2 years or more because if it can last a year it means it can last even more , so if you buy something that has a date 2016 it can actually last till 2030 and is still good to eat ( no food poisoning ) the date is just for 120% of customer safty . I have cans that have 2014+ dates

  • Hey man great vid I'm just starting out as well trying to learn all I can

  • its people like this that will become a threat in the furture. unfortuanly for people like this there is only a slim chance for a shtf moment, if you are planning to copy these fools just think what do i really need i can only think of two things that you might have to prepare for and pandemic such as the black death or enconomic disater. In any other cases such as nuclear bombs droping your not going to survive that if you dont have a fallout shelter.

  • @reaper2l Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'people like this' being a threat? How big a threat, & to who? An economic disaster means what by your definition? How would a person being prepared to take care of himself and his family be a threat? The purpose is to not overtax a system that may BE overtaxed in the event of an economic breakdown. I am not a Mormon, but by example, they have been doing it for generations and are a threat to nobody. Just asking, no nastiness meant..just curious.

  • @reaper2l Sure no one will ever lose their job and need food for their families. There will never be a winter storm that will leave people stranded at home. Food will always be available during a natural disaster. Wait! Many millions of Americans are without a job, or working and not earning enough to cover all their expenses. We have winter storms every year as well as many natural disasters. Only fools can't see pass their own noses. You don't store for a nuclear war. Boom you're dead.

  • Most people store their dry goods just like you did in the storage bins.

Not many people have the money to buy pails, bags, oxogen tablets.

  • @27ljta 2strokes dont take motor oil......

  • @27ljta sorry im not a nerd like you! on the computer all day long im out rideing my 4 dirt bikes shooting (outside) all the time you should try that! so you stock up on your tuna fish and beans you dirty lil hippie! o $hit got to go apmex is at my door with more of my gold coins and silver dollers later broke as nerd

  • Thanks for posting. If I didn't have Mylar and was relying on bins, I would either put them up off the floor, or you could seal the entire perimeter with duct tape. I've done that with some of my 5-6 gallon buckets. I think that's a cheap and easy way to insure against bugs!

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • you can also use a food saver and mason jar attachments for the foodsaver and you can dehydrate your food and store it in no 2 food grade buckets

  • Great Start!

  • Why you just dont go to the supermarquet every week and thats all? are you preparing for the end of the world ?

  • I bet you have a yr supply by now. Look at the massive storms that killed over 400 and left thousands homeless. I bet only 5% were preppers anyway, but it would not matter as everyting was blown to smitherings along with all their houses. If they had basements which I haven't heard about yet maybe they had food down there.

  • I feel a bit unpatriotic saying this, even though being a Brit means I should drink tea im with you all the way on the coffee front, I know it has hardly any nutritional value but when I started planning my three month store it was about the third item that sprang to mind, currently working on the gun problem, cant own much legally over here but a licence to own a shotgun is not as hard to get as most people think here, infact a licence to drive is more hassle, want to get 2 and 1000 cartridges

  • buy a lot of good can openers

  • Thank you for sharing . Great great video.

  • People stock up on flour where you can make your own bread, if you don't know how, find out, get your yeast. Start to can or bottle your own fruit in Jar. you can grow your own Onions garlic, stock up on oil, canned fish, sugar, salt. Water. A Generator if you can. Find ways of cokking out doors if they cut your gas off or electricity. People be ready stock up on matches, coal if you have a bunker. Rice Pasta, any thing you can store, if you have a spair room use it as a stock room or cellar.

  • @maria610421 good advice thank you :)

  • if shft, once people find out you have food, water, and ammo, wont that make you an even bigger target? wave after wave of people will be at your door 24/7...unless your a robot and need no rest or sleep, i don't see that you would be able to hold out long...

  • learn how to hunt instead....

  • @tim4962 church freak!!!!!!!! thats y theres WAR people like YOU!!!! its all over religion cant you SEE THAT?

  • @huntz2471 You don't even know me and you attack me. I am not a Church freak. I understand that we must love one another or perish, can't you see that? Don't answer! God knows your heart, you attack me it is the same as attacking Jesus. Learn to love. You can't blame people like me for your wars. Its people who are greedy and hateful who start the war. Its the other way around. Can't you see that? Don't answer. I pray that you will wake up and stop attacking others. God Bless - Wake up

  • @tim4962 i dont want your prayer thanks..

  • @huntz2471 name 1 war over religion

  • I always see alot of canned corn and in my opinion this is probably the worst vegetable to have on hand for survival. You want veggies with high protein or high vitamin contents even if you dont like them... its for survival.

  • @laidbackguy1972 sorry, i was posting around, good job!!

  • @laidbac DO SOMETHING THEN!spread organic heirloom food seed far and wide, its called"johnny appleseed economics"or"gorrila gardens",spread more organic food. wake up everyone,do your part!?IF YOU ARE angry, get seed and make a organic revolution your way.SPREAD THE HEIRLOOM SEED EVERYWHERE TELL OTHERS! INCREASE THE FOOD SUPPLY RIGHT NOW WHILE WE GOT TIME!! GROW VERTICAL GARDENS IF YOU DONT HAVE THE SPACE! START NOW!

A PEOPLE IS ONLY AS STRONG AS ITS STOMACH!

tell 10 OTHER PEOPLE RIGHT NOW!

  • buy silver it goes up as the dollar drops and doesn't spoil

  • @slickone67 i cant afford silver but does saving quarters, nickels, and dimes count.

  • no groceries at the grocery store. LOL

  • if shit ever gets that bad you better have guns to shoot of the people and or good knows who else from stealing you food which im sure you do

  • Nutella, my daughter cant do without it. Strange thing is my daughter is called ella and she's nuts. lol

  • Are earthquakes a possible hazard in your area? If so maybe consider some kind of system to keep all your items on the shelves versus spilled on the floor. Also maybe move all the breakables down to the lowest shelf. Just my .02 worth. Great job overall!

  • I would not be interested in storing GMO foods, which it seems that's what you have most. You need to can/jar perserve Organic/Natural foods. I mean to each is own but GMO foods make you sick in the long run..........

  • I'm going to try to can flour, sugar, salt, brown sugar etc... the dry things that have the possibility of storing easily and well by putting them, open, in my warm oven. I'll take them out of the oven when they're hot. I'll put the lids and rings on and a vacuum will be created when the food and jars cool down. I'll be able to verify a vacuum by the pop and appearance of the lids. I don't see any reason for failure if I follow normal cleanliness and canning standards. Opinions are welcome.

  • dont forget candles and matches

  • Careful on the canned fruit, the acidity breaks down the cans and they tend to get ugly quickly. I try to rotate my canned food at the very latest every 4 months.

  • @Iridium242 Canned fruit cans are lined with either zink or plastic to prevent the acid from breaking down the tin. they will last as long as 10 years even in a somewhat damp basement with spring water running through it.

  • Try not to buy the pop open cans, the lids r designed 4 the seals break easily. Glass recycle sites are a good way to save a lot of money! U have to make sure there are no cracks in the jars or the food will spoil. Canning is tricky, the sooner u start practicing the better off u will be! Stock up on lemon or lime juice and salt for canning. Learn wild edibles and natural medicine! Modern medicine will run out too! Don't forget hand powered kitchen tools! Mrs.NAN check out our vids 4 more info 2

  • you can freeze flour in sealed bags. it stays good as long as the moisture doesn't get inside of the flour bag.

  • Good video. Can you review the Katadyn Survivor? Makes fresh water from ocean or brackish or chemically tainted water. Is there a DIY alternative?

Nobody thinks WATER? 10 gals is not enough.

Fresh water source isn't an option sometimes near the ocean (or source that can't be simply filtered). A distiller needs takes too long. The Katadyn Survivor pump can produce 35 gals of fresh water a day. Also removes chemicals, nerve agents, viruses, bacteria, etc.

  • Great job Add honey keeps forever also n92 filter mask, check out other med supply tubes.

  • Does anyone know where to get a large quantity of dry Kidney beans?

  • I guess everyone is different, b/c that amount in this video is roughly about 2 weeks of food for me alone. And all food storage should be food that you eat on a regular basis, that way you can rotate it and never have to get rid of food that you never eat. More wheat, lots of wheat. flour, sugar, thing about making things from scratch get what you would need.

  • Just buy a gun dipshit...when shit goes sown just shoot motherfuckers and take their shit..

  • @pimpingfools LOL....yeah. Just make sure you don't try to take the shit from people that have guns too. If the shit really hit's the fan, I'll be shooting first and asking questions later....and I'll be gunning for people like you that were too short-sighted to prepare for what is definitely coming. All I can say, is that when it all goes bad, even your "friends" will go into survival-mode....and they won't be your friend for very much longer. Get ready.

  • @pimpingfools yea....i got a plan 4 people like u. try 2 take what keeps me n my family alive, u die. that simple.

people, wen ur out there, dont dress or act like u have things others dont because of idiots like this. they WILL shoot u 4 wha u have. it's jus the sad reality of this situation.

  • great prices on oregon freeze dried food at ShaneShop(dot)net

  • hey you might want to find a place to get those things off the flore because all of that stuff animals and bugs love to get into good vid by the way

  • you gonna need a hell of alot more toilet paper :D lol

  • You will be OK when SHTF...

  • I have a generator for my well too, however I also have several 5 gal gas cans. I used sta-bil to keep the gas "fresh" and it was stored for over a year, 18 months? and it worked just great. I eventually put it in my car and refilled the cans, and used the sta-bil again. I try to get it when gas is priced just right. My car is fine, the gas was perfect, and I would tell anyone to store gas, it's safe and works great. Oh, and it sat in an unheated or cooled metal shed all winter and summer too!!!

  • OH that looks like a mess, you should make yourself a can rotator.

  • You dont have to go mylar, like today i bought a 25kg bag of rice which is sealed well by the manufacturer and has a 2015 expiry date, so no need to re transport it into mylar.

Keep it up! Obviously there have been volcano's which have blocked out the sun to the extent that crops fail or have not a long enough growing season. The risks most likely though are economic in the US, YOU WILL SEE THIS within 2 years due to change in investor sentiment towards the USA

    .

  • A food storage for 3 months seems rather unrealistic and paranoid for someone from Holland. I could immagine its usefull in situations where you live in lots of snowfall or so.

  • Canned foods don't last forever and eventually expired. What are you going to do with that?

  • its really good you buy the things you like cause if you buy some thing you dont like to eat in an emergency you wont use eat it when you have an emergency. I find that if I save my change and pop bottle return money I can buy 1000.00 of food every six months.

  • you should seal your tubs to prevent bugs

  • why do you have this?

  • @Sellos23 Is this a serious question?

  • @Sellos23 there are so many reasons to have food stored - natural disasters, truckers union strike, unemployment, civil unrest, pandemics, etc.

  • Coffee & Nutella for me too! Can't live without those. Thanks for the video. Very inspiring.

  • @ladychewbacca

The four food groups of the Apocalypse, Alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, chocolate

  • May I ask how you will be pulling water from your well? I have a well for my home, but no way to draw water if there is no power.

  • @MissPickletoes

My well is very deep - over 500' so a hand pump would not work - at least I do not know of one. So, I have a back-up generator that can run my pump. For long outages, I can run the pump for a short time and pump out enough water to store multiple 55 gal drums I have, then turn the genny off to conserve fuel. It would be good only if I had fuel to run it, but it's better than no way of getting water at all. I have plenty of back-up plans to that as well.

  • @boomd1791

    Store food "on the hoof".

Pot Belly Pigs, rabbits, and even goats, are considered pets in many cities and towns.

If you have access to weeds/grass/leaves, you'll do just fine.

Food waste can be also be thrown to them(potato peelings, lettuce going bad, etc.)

You could put a 4" bucket(approx. 4' long PVC pipe with a cap) down your 6" well casing.

    Gas maybe in short supply.

You could also catch rain off your roof.

  • @MissPickletoes Several ways. One, connect a generator and transfer switch. Two, a system like Banner Power that uses battery back up with an inverter to go from DC to AC power. Third, hand pump by-pass, the good old fashion way.

  • That is a really good start....Good Video

  • @drewstarr71

He should have some dry grains they can last up to 10 years and then just mill the grain as you have need for it. wheat, barley etc.

  • it's a start.... I remember when we lived in rural west texas we had to travel 2 hours to either el paso or carlsbad, NM to get food, water and supplies. We would stock up for months of food and a good 2-3 weeks of water, since the water there was extremely sandy and dirty and hard to filter out for drinking use. what I've learned from that experience taught me what to buy and store in emergency situations.

  • You should store some wine or liquor as well. wine is good for stomach illnesses and alcohol can be used as a dissinfectant and can also be given to people that would require small surgery..like pulling a tooth or resetting a bone etc., and you can barter with people for other essentials. It also helps with morale.

  • zombie apocolipse much?

  • nutella =-) lol.

  • Excellent!

  • nice stockpile mate, one suggestion though, try to buy the store brand, instead of name brand, to save money, so you get more for the same price

  • well done, good man, look after your famley

  • I will start working on storing more food after seeing your video, I am worried about storing canned goods outside in a hot shed, will it affect the contents? We live in southern California so my biggest fear is an earthquake and I want to store some food in the shed to get us by until I can retrieve the rest of our food inside the house.

  • @GTVAlfaMan yes this is not good, when it gets hot, air will expand inside the cans and possibly make them explode. i think people have died from this before.

  • my dad in Japan asked me, "since when and who is telling you that USA is going to panic and collapse?, why are you (I am in the US), interested and telling me this? No one in Japan is aware of it nor talking about it." ..... How do I explain to hm ?

  • Where would be the place for a foot storage if you do not have a room? No car garage, no basement. Just three bed rooms two bath living kitchen 1500 sq ft home. Wish I had an out door building attic or some place.... The kitchen is quite small too.

  • Well, you want to keep the food in a dark cool place, if possible. I would say start with your cupboards - fill those up first - use one cupboard just for longer term storage. Next, I would suggest a closet - put the food in plastic totes or buckets. Other places like under your bed - be creative. Don't let lack of storage keep you from storing food.

  • @urkingod . n the bottom of closets

  • @urkingod don't forget you can store under your beds, behind the couch. consider high level shelving in closets. get creative!

  • @urkingod Put footers under the beds to raise the beds about 6 inches or so and then store under the beds. Also, in the wall cabnits, this will give you about 15 inches width and 4 to 6 inches deep, depending on your walls, and as tall as the wall allows.

  • @urkingod Use low, flat containers to store things under the beds, you can also store a layer of canned goods in your coat or clothes closet under where the clothing is hanging. When I lived in a small apartment I used the bottom of my closet, covered it with a piece of cardboard and sat my shoes on top of it. You've got to be creative & sneaky sometimes.

  • @heirloomessentials that's where dehydrating your own food comes in handy. You can fit a years worth of food for a person under a twin bed if it's dehydrated.

  • @urkingod you can store in under bed bins, in closets, make extra shelving, behind the sofa, even using boxes and barrels for side tables with a cloth over them. I lived in a small space (mobile home) when my kids were little and managed to keep a years worth of food at all times. Just think outside the box!

  • good job! Great start!

  • Do not throw those old, used car tires away. Instead, fill 'em with fertile soil and bury potatoes in them. As the potatoes sprout new buds and surface place another tire over the old one and fill (again) with fresh top soil. Keep doing this up to 8 feet in height. In 4 months knock 'em all down and you should have 100 or more potatos. Its simple, free and adds to your food storage plan.

  • @7514328 that works? great idea...thanks!

  • i drink Arizona green tea so i have like 20 1.5 gallon jugs

  • Nice vid

  • Thanks

  • Smart move, I hope you are still stocking up.. shoot for that year...you wont regret it

  • New Tella, sorry not Nut Tella ;^)

  • Enjoyed ur video.

  • I use empty bleach bottles for storing water. 1-1.5 gal. Thanks for sharing God Bless.

  • Dont store water in milk jugs! they are designed to degrade to prevent them from filling up land fills.

I also wouldn't buy water that comes in milk jugs for the same reason. get 20 2L pop bottles. on sale (store brand) at 60 cents each that is$12 . and u get to drink the soda! 20=10 gallons. that's 5 days for 2 people.

  • @astrialkil

I do that myself plus mouthwash bottles. Walmart also sells 7 gallon water storage tanks with spigot dispensers. They're designed specifically for long term water storage & are odor free. $10.50 a piece.

I also save liquid laundry detergent bottles. I cannot get the detergent odor out of them but I plan to use that water for showering & washing hands.

  • @astrialkil So true about the milk jugs! I had seven bottles of water and after only a few months, three of them started leaking. So I found out the hard way that milk jugs don't work well. I'm planning to purchase some 55 gallon barrels to store water. If you add a preservative to the water, you only have to rotate your barrels every five years. Just something to think about.

  • Milk jugs will NEVER degrade if they end up in a landfill.

  • If you have a deep freezer in your house you can purchase bags of ice to extend the life of your frozen food items. They should give you a few extra days of cold storage in the event of a power outage.

  • Great video thanks for sharing! Take a look at my site and tell me what you think.

  • good supplies. You have a lot of dry milk, that stuff is expensive and takes up so much room so I don't have more than one box of that. I keep it in the freezer along with extra flour that won't fit in my airtight container.

  • Most of your foods are for cooking. I think you must buy ready meals as well as we never know if we have time or resources available during emergencies.

  • Give you a tip on those stacks of cans - cut out flat cardboard and place it in between the cans - one piece to make a "flat". Makes the whole thing a lot more stable.

I usually get 3/4 flats from Walmart. They cut down the boxes that cans come in, with an open front, and three sides about 2 inches high. You can stack cans six feet high doing that.

  • @Jollyprez Also bubble wraps helps.

  • Wake up man. Store enough for at least a year. The price of food WILL go through the roof!

What will you do when your friends and neighbors come begging for food? Not to mention your extended family.

A ton of rice, a ton of wheat, a ton of pasta and a 1/2 ton of beans.

    Store water.

    Invest in silver rounds, APMEX.

    Buy supplies, TP, soap, etc..

Water: Buy a tarp to nail to your roof, use PVC pipe to drain water to rain barrels. Water filters from fast filters, 1 micron filters.

    Prepare NOW!

  • wow calm down! i'm sure 3 month supply is just fine!

  • If you don't have alot of space consider dehydrating your food instead of canning. Atleast go and look it up. Also start couponing, its easier than you think. Go to A Full Cup and learn from veterans who have been doing for years and years. My own goal this year is to obtain a two year supply within one year using coupons. My feeling I will get close to doing it. And never pay retail while doing it. Another thing, plan out 3 months of menus, then you know what you need to buy.

  • great

I also heard white flower is ignored by bugs. make tortias and banik, and keep baking powder or baking soda. great job, you just get better the longer you learn.

  • you heard wrong I live in the western part of canada and if you dont have flour wraped up properly bugs will get in it. I use tupperware containers for flour it works well,

  • bugs still get in to white flower. In canada they do. so, I am sure it will happen were your from as well.

  • Like your video & the "Nutella" idea is brilliant.....a jar of Nutella & a few spoons would probably make your kids think that a emergency/collapse is a holiday!!!!

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • I have about the same amout stored that you do. I date the cans, packages with magic marker, month and year for rotation.

  • I liked your video. I live in northern California in a small town. I am just now starting to stock up. I also like the vids from user name "PaulHerrmann1."

I'll have to checkout Yankees vids.

There's a lot of talk centered around 2011-2012 disasters. I think that even if nothing cataclysmic happens certain people will make it happen or want it to happen.

I think something does need to change about how we live. There is so much consumption and waste.

I've also been looking into solar.

  • Do you have an Aldis near you? If you do you could allmost double what you have as far as canned goods, for what you paid for the name brands I saw. Slavemart and Sams is not always the best priced. You need some variety in that plan as well.

  • Just bought 60.00 dollars worth of stuff from Aldis today. Prices are so much lower, great bang for your buck.

  • i really hope it was worth the effort buying all of this nonperishable food that lasts for 2 years i spent tons of money on this and im unemployed so im broke now

  • Im also unemployed and all that food i stored is a blessing now, my faily doesnt think im so crazy now

  • all im worried about is stale food alright, all of this stuff approximately lasts for 2 years, im not concerned over no natural disasters, but food scarcity and martial law, kind of sounds ridiculous to me....I've never prepared like this before in my life, only reason i recently did this is because my parents are still with me, so i hope these " patriots" are right about what they're saying is coming...or else i would retaliate for putting me on stress over a year

  • @bunker2k1 Good luck being unemployed. Must be a hard thing

  • 60 bucks at Aldis will get you 2 months of food LOL

  • Good video..........

  • Love the Nutella. I get the big sizes at a wholesale club. When the SHTF, gotta have the Nutella to keep you sane!

  • I like anyone who stores Nutella in their food storage!

  • Yankeeprepper - just being funny about the moving comment. No intention of going anywhere.

  • As far as moving - I wish I could. My work keeps me in my current location. However, I do have an acre of land - just need to cut down some trees to make more room for garden plus more heat during the winter. Any land for sale near you?

  • It was just "wishfull thinking". It would be nice to have neighbors preparing along too.

  • Yankeeprepper,

I tell you, I have been researching and viewing all types of videos about preparedness and everyday I feel I am so behind the game. But the thing that keeps me going is knowing for fact that every neighbor of mine within about a 1/2 mile of me doesn't have 1 bit of preparation that I have. I have goals where I want to be at the end of each month so hopefully I can progress more before an event happens where preparing ends and surviving begins. thanks for the confidence!

  • That's Excellent!

Great investment, you have moved from possibly being part of the problem to being part of the solution.

Now I need you to sell your house where ever you are and move in next to me and become my neighbor.

  • I guess since I have access to buying them, I might as well go the extra distance. Thanks!!

  • I agree with D69A, some nice rice, wheat, beans and pasta will see that time lengthen. Beans are excellent.

  • Thanks for the info. Just watched some of your videos. Do you use Mylar bags for your rice, flour, and such? You said in your video you put the bag of flour into a 5 gal. bucket. Do you empty the bags first? Do you have a plastic liner or mylar bag for the bucket? This is my next investment - buckets and rice/flour/pasta/beans storage.

  • I personally put 1 kilo (2lb) of the item in a plastic bag and tie it. I then put those in plastic buckets.

No one outside the US sells oxygen absorbers and they don't seem to want to ship here so I don't have any choice. D69A uses them and I would too. I do think that the life will be extended by some degree with them. But the food will still last decades, just not as fresh.

  • good job getting started and ready. Wanna hit that 3 month fast. Bucket up some dry goods- pasta, rice, beans. 1-3 5 gallon buckets and you will be at your goal. Great job.

    D69A

  • Thanks for the reply. Your videos are very informative. Yes, the next step for me very soon is to start filling 5 gallon buckets. Question, can i just store bags of flour in buckets rather than the grain that will need to be ground?

  • I store both, because oats can be eaten as they are for a breakfast food.

  • Yes you can store the flour. It can e messy and will not store as long as whole grain. But figure at least 5-15 yrs if you pack it properly with mylar bags and o2 absorbers.
