  • ya thats bs jordan didnt need yhe 70 odd cents to take from the kids i belive sportstalk media needs to hate to make drama

  • MJ gave 5 million to a primarily black and underprivileged boys school in Chicago, gave 250k to help NC middle school district keep their sports activites for after school, and a bunch of other stuff most dont even know about , this country got mad issues alot of people are content with some high profile person running their mouth on on CNN or 60 minutes frontin while not doing shit but look how in touch they are I guess MJ should have done that, people need to get off his damn back already

  • @sportstalk23 Why don't you go and post that comment on evrery Jordan video on youtube? People need to know and I'd thumb you up every time!

Also MJ participated in events and gave goodies to sick children of the Presbyterian Hemby Children's hospital with his Bobcats organization not long ago. So he actually went there and presented himself and answered questions from the crowd and kids. Plus he always goes to schools to make a surprise to children. He's just so greatl

  • Jack89 you dont know what you are talking about just see NBAPremium(.)tk to see whats up

  • He Owes us nothing, He owes his family everything not us, He is just a man not a superman.

  • @shawn625 he is g.o.a.t.

  • Jordan didn't have to become Marcus Garvey to give back. All people wanted from him was some kind of acknowledgment that he meant more to his community than a normal athlete. Do something--anything--that isn't geared toward generating some kind of dollar revenue for your portfolio. In the end, he was more interested in being a businessman than anything else. Jordan is too self-involved to understand the impact he could have had.

  • @Sierra688 I find it sad when people like you make up such a serious and elaborated opinion when they don't even know...seriously, you don't know! Don't just believe what this video says. Don't you think it's kind of ridiculous to believe what a single youtube video says? Is that all the info you need? I know your comment is 2 years old but I need to tell you...MJ is rich but he isn't just the money-eating self-interested machine you think he is.

  • Mike transcended an entire generation as well did tiger, But Majic and Ali has done so much more in terms of overcoming adversity. Mike refused to speak out about anything, Tiger is 1/4 black and doesn't claim it.

  • When did this air?

David Falk is wrong on two points:

    1) Tiger has ALREADY equaled (and maybe even eclipsed) Michael Jordan's off the court success, in terms of endorsements, etc. In terms of pure business acumen, Magic Johnson is more successful than Michael.

    2) A young player already HAS tried to fit his marketing program into Michael Jordan's blueprint: KOBE BRYANT (and to a lesser extent, Lebron James).

Nice video though. Jordan was THE MAN.

  • You're wrong on two points: 1.The Jordan name is more recognizable and makes more money now than he ever did in his 16yr career in the NBA. The Jordan Brand is a household name. Tiger is only synonomis with golf. Tiger hasn't made a shoe company, NIKE, what it is today. Jordan set the standard of greatness in and out the athletic arena. Tiger is still in the process. 2.Magic is more sucessful than Jordan? The Jordan brand has created more jobs in the last 5 yrs. than Magic has or ever will.

  • "The Jordan name is more recognizable and makes more money now than he ever did in his 16yr career in the NBA."

    --

If I remember correctly, the Jordan brand grossed $10B during his career. I highly doubt the brand has netted anything near that since his retirement. I've not seen his numbers, but even though Tiger's mostly synonymous with golf only, he is slated to be the FIRST athlete to become a billionaire by 2011. Who KNOWS how much other companies have made off of him, as well...

  • ...so by the time Tiger retires, chances are, the Tiger Brand will be a lot bigger than Michael's. This is ASTOUNDING considering that Tiger's just a GOLFER. But I DO agree that Jordan made NIKE and set the standard.

"The Jordan brand has created more jobs in the last 5 yrs. than Magic has or ever will."

    -------

PLEASE provide statistics on that. How many business does MJ own? Have a stake in? How diverse is his business portolio?...

  • ...Tiger is slated to become billionaire athlete. I remember a story a couple of years ago talking about how Magic's assets are climbing towards $1B. According to Magic's website:

"Since 1992, he's built an estimated $700 million portfolio."

Some vids on Magic and his businesses:

    /watch?v=qoPmLYArzHI&feature=PlayList&p=CECB1B2341892553&index=37

    /watch?v=aN6HwCIxYp8

In one of the vids, Magic says he directly employs 25,000 folk in all his businesses

  • Thus recreating jobs that were already available. When Tiger expends beyond golf then I'll be able to understand his potential. However, a billion dollars is a billion dollars regardless where it's made. If Jordan is not there I'm sure he's close to it. Nice talking to you.

  • His genre has expended way past basketball. If he generated 10B during his career during, which I'm sure your numbers are correct, when he was working for someone else I'm sure his net worth will be surpass has surpass the 400mil it was 2003. Magic's hands on approach has, in fact, recreated jobs that were already there. Putting a movie theatre and a StarBucks in a different neighbors isn't created new jobs. What it does is bring those companies closer to where people can have more access.

    ------------

Pointed taken, there. And yeah, I remember reading about MJ having a net worth of around 400 million

  • That was when he was playing. When was affliated with the Nike brand. After his career has ended the Jordan is now a self contain unit which has seven players in the NBA, alone, wearing the shoe. This is product that, now doesn't have to split the profit with Nike like he previously had to. Not to mention that Jordan, again, is not just synonomous(sorry for the spelling) with basketball Derek Jeter, Mr Yankee wears his shoes. Roy Jones jr. wears his shoes.

  • Thus recreating jobs that were already available.

    ---------

TRUE ENOUGH. Good point. Still, what Magic has done and IS doing is quite difficult. But don't misunderstand my respect and admiration for Michael Jordan as a businessman.

    "Nice talking to you."

    Same here, bro.

    PEACE.

  • only 3 million...beasley makes more, that shows you how things have changed...
