stop comparing Cristina and Amy! shut up, who cares about personal opinions, keep them to yourself! they don't matter compared to FACTS. simply stating who you THINK is better does not make you right one bit :/ take notice to details such as what notes they can hit, how much moving they do around stage, the pace of the song, etc. Taking this into account; Amy = much better singer. @BlueNeko1 she's not disappointing at all, in fact, she's really awesome. You just have to know what shows to watch: The Avalon show at Boston, for example. Evanescence's best show in my opinion is the one they played at the Hammerstein ballroom in 2006. There's a huge difference! Her voice is excellent in those ones! You won't find them on Youtube, so you'll have to download them from Evthreads. if you want a link I can send it to you ;)

But man, I do enjoy old Nightwish (bought Oceanborn last summer) and downloaded a handful of their songs. They are good, and Tarja's voice is celestial. Epica is another awesome band with a beautiful vocalist. I downloaded The Divine Conspiracy and Design Your Universe. I've also watched some of the performances from "We will take you with us" and Simone is perfect.

And massive tours for commercial Bands like Evanescence can tire a woman's voice! Especially if said woman has had no vocal training whatsoever!
@evanescence9314 I'm sorry if my opinions go against the norm, but I have quite a background in music and have seen many great performaces from many different people. My father was a music teacher and I have been singing professionally on a stage since I was three. So I tend to be a harsh critic. I don't mind Amy as much as I do some other artists but I do believe that there is much she could do to improve her voice. She just never does it. She believes that people will buy her music anyways.
@BlueNeko1 I understadn your point of view but I'd have to point this out, the music is played really loud, she headbangs, jumps around and runs everywhere, whilst singing, I think she must find her Fallen songs easier to sing (Except Whisper, very hard to keep track of singing live) because the vocals weren't that hard, while on The Open Door she really showed off her vocal skills, but on the album, she can stop and re-do it, live there's no stopping just constant singing
@dotcake This is no excuse to sing bad. Cristina from Lacuna Coil does all of this and sings as good live as in studio. I like evanascence but I know that amy's voice isn't a half compared to ohter singers. Like I said before, nothing excuses the fact to sing bad.

@windertt Lacuna Coil, Graspop 2009, Lacuna Coil, Wacken 2009, Lacuna Coil, Milan 2006. Cristina barely attempts any note above a C5 these days without switching into her head voice. Amy isn't perfect but she is nailing that E5 over and over again and the only time she uses her head voice is to sing a whole octave higher above Cristina's threshold ie. C6#. I love Lacuna Coil but Amy is a superior vocalist. Fact.

@Dathir There are plenty of contraltos who belt high notes in chest voice. See: Lacey Sturm, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa. Being a contralto only means that your tessitura is lower, not that you can't consistently hit chest voice notes. Amy's live singing isn't perfect but she never chickens out into her head voice like Cristina. I'm not criticizing Cristina, I just think its funny that you're using a much weaker vocalist as a point of comparison.

Don't kill me for this! I understand it's a metal/rock festival and you want to get the fans hyped, but seriously, she sounds strained and pitchy due to her thrashing and head-banging. Please save the moving around for less demanding vocal parts. This song isn't the easiest to sing. She shouldn't have her vocal quality suffer.
How very mature. NOT. I'm not saying that she sings horrible live; I just say that I think moving around too much makes you short of breath. When you sing like that, your notes don't come out on-key or clean. So I think that she should tone down the movements a little.

Sharon headbangs a lot, and if u listen songs like angels or memories and compare whith Amy's singing u can tell the difference, and even more in songs like the truth beneath or the promise, u can say Sharon has a much better tecniq. Just listen and compare, Sharon can actually hit those high notes almost effotless and Amy tries too hard. I'm not saying she can't sing...
How can Lacuna Coils songs be impersonal, I have been listening to them for almost eight years and they have helped touch every part of my life. It might sound cheesy but they have. I love WT, LC and oldschool nightwish (oldschool has more meaning than new school) EV is good I have the two cds but their not that great I don't listen to them everyday like the others but shes tryin to match stage entertainment with Sharon and Cristina. Its not working. Two thumbs down EV!
Don't kill me for saying this, but I don't understand why she feels compelled to thrash around WHILE she's singing. She should go crazy when she doesn't have to control her voice so much. Like the "she's nothing to me" part is so dramatic, but she's seems too busy flipping her head to really let that sink in and she just breezes through it. Whay annoys me is that apparently, she discovered Within Temptation on that day (both were playing). I mean, when you are a real artist, you show a bit of curiosity by checking what is going on on the rock-metal scene of the world, especially when you go to their country! And apparently, she doesn't like their music!!

She didn't 'discover' them on that day. A couple of years ago she posted on the EvBoard that a fan sent her Nightwish, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil albums, and she listened but could not relate. She wrote that she liked parts of it, but the music and lyrics were so impersonal and were borderline 'cheesy goth'. Personally, I don't think she HAS to check out other artists. Ev and WT are only in the same genre in a wider sense of the definition, and nobody said that they had to like each other
i don't know about within temptation and nightwish but the part about Lacuna Coil isn't true becuz she said in sum interview sumwhere (forgive me but i forgot where) Amy stated that when she was younger she looked up to Lacuna Coil
In an Italian interview in early or mid 2003, Ben Moody talked about how a fan sent them the LC album with the flower on the cover. He said that the music was ok, and that the singer was hot. I don't know if they got it from the same fan Amy talked about I do remember er saying in another interview that some of her musical influences when she was younger were Madonna and Mariah Carey. This here is a beautiful performance of an awesome song. Why make these pointless comparisons?

I love Lose Control too! Sadly though, I don't think that song's suited for concerts. Too many effects and the way she whispers into the mic just wouldn't work live. Same with the "musical crying" in the backround. It's just too much. Anyways, this vid's awesome!

OK , get out of the way people ... their backing the Zildjian cymbal truck up to the stage ! HOLY CRAP does Will thrash the kit ! I LOVE the high hat work during the chorus as it adds so much heavyness than the original recording . Will definitely lights everyone's ass on fire compared to Rocky !

I think I should set something straight I own Fallen and The Open Door I think they r both good cd's What I am trying to say is yes she can sing we can hear but move so much which its a concert fine move but as much as she is its effecting her voice a little bit I dont think I should get mocked by one little comment that has been proven If you r singing and you move yor neck alot and pull it up you pull on yor vocal cords it strains them and in the long run can put yor singing career to a halt

There's a whole drum industry working 24/7 to keep Will Hunt equipped with new gear ! His drum tech must have a gun in his mouth at the side of the stage ! He tears it up BIG TIME and I'm loving every second of his performance .

Sharon headbangs a lot, and if u listen songs like angels or memories and compare whith Amy's singing u can tell the difference, and even more in songs like the truth beneath or the promise, u can say Sharon has a much better tecniq. Just listen and compare, Sharon can actually hit those high notes almost effotless and Amy tries too hard. I'm not saying she can't sing...

How can Lacuna Coils songs be impersonal, I have been listening to them for almost eight years and they have helped touch every part of my life. It might sound cheesy but they have. I love WT, LC and oldschool nightwish (oldschool has more meaning than new school) EV is good I have the two cds but their not that great I don't listen to them everyday like the others but shes tryin to match stage entertainment with Sharon and Cristina. Its not working. Two thumbs down EV!

Don't kill me for saying this, but I don't understand why she feels compelled to thrash around WHILE she's singing. She should go crazy when she doesn't have to control her voice so much. Like the "she's nothing to me" part is so dramatic, but she's seems too busy flipping her head to really let that sink in and she just breezes through it. See what I'm saying?? lol I love her, I just feel that sometimes, she's trying to impress certain groups by "thrasing." But I love her! <3

I quite like the song.
Whay annoys me is that apparently, she discovered Within Temptation on that day (both were playing). I mean, when you are a real artist, you show a bit of curiosity by checking what is going on on the rock-metal scene of the world, especially when you go to their country! And apparently, she doesn't like their music!!

She didn't 'discover' them on that day. A couple of years ago she posted on the EvBoard that a fan sent her Nightwish, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil albums, and she listened but could not relate. She wrote that she liked parts of it, but the music and lyrics were so impersonal and were borderline 'cheesy goth'. Personally, I don't think she HAS to check out other artists. Ev and WT are only in the same genre in a wider sense of the definition, and nobody said that they had to like each other

i don't know about within temptation and nightwish but the part about Lacuna Coil isn't true becuz she said in sum interview sumwhere (forgive me but i forgot where) Amy stated that when she was younger she looked up to Lacuna Coil

In an Italian interview in early or mid 2003, Ben Moody talked about how a fan sent them the LC album with the flower on the cover. He said that the music was ok, and that the singer was hot. I don't know if they got it from the same fan Amy talked about I do remember er saying in another interview that some of her musical influences when she was younger were Madonna and Mariah Carey. This here is a beautiful performance of an awesome song. Why make these pointless comparisons?

oh i'm not making a comparison cuz i luv all Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Lacuna Coil but my unbeatable fave is EVANESCENCE! And i agree with Amy sumtimes it's hard for me to really get into bands like Nightwish and Lacuna Coil because they're lyrics do borderline impersonal. like "new" nightwish's "The Islander"

I love Lose Control too! Sadly though, I don't think that song's suited for concerts. Too many effects and the way she whispers into the mic just wouldn't work live. Same with the "musical crying" in the backround. It's just too much. Anyways, this vid's awesome!
