@purplenotturtle i'm terrified, wanting to start riding this next summer though, knowing there are still a million more jackasses to make the same mistake
"I didnt see you." That's always the response. Of course you didn't see the rider. Car drivers rarely SEE anything, they just LOOK around like goggling idiots not paying attention.
When will perception tests be mandatory for a driver's test. Gah!
well im glad she actually stopped, apoligized, and knew she was wrong! its good that there are some responsible drivers out there! makes this dashcam capture even better!
@MRSHAUN8 True, was indicting left but went straight ahead, I would blame the motorcyclist here. But goes to show, never trust indicators e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=py_oJLp_Neo
I really do fail 'to see' how drivers can't see bikers on the road. I've never pulled out in front of my fellow brothren or sisters xD because I thought they were very far away and mis judges their speed or *couldn't see them* Majority of the time it's just idiots not looking or think they can bully their way on the road.... But I'd exchange insurance details and numbers with that hot ass LOLOL
you always have to assume that cars are not going to stop , if you see a car coming , slow down and keep your eyes on the driver , if she/he cuts you off than drive by and smash your helmet on her or his window but at least you are alive
Typical response "I didnt see you" Woman did a U turn in front of me on the bike the other day without warning, arm went through the window and ripped my bike jacket and arms to bits, front end write off. Some fucking idiots on the road.
i think this is in australia. drivers in australia are pretty eradic. They turn before indicating, rarely slow down and brake late at round abouts. think i am the best driver on the road so make way. and yes im australian.
Well, at least you were driving safely and using signals and such. So unlike other motorcycle accident videos. I will not laugh at you, and instead feel some empathy toward your accident.
@mcapps1 - didn't give way - or as you say "yield". But I was so far around the round-a-bout when she hit me it was from 3/4 rear. It's not that she deliberately didn't yield, it's just that she didn't even see me or as I would say, didn't even look for me. But we all make mistakes and she apologised profusely afterwards and made sure I was okay before heading off. I wasn't hurt and the bike has been repaired back to original shiny condition.
@cjeff77 you where ready for a fight but when you saw how cute she was you only wanted her phone number lol ...anyway with a camera showing your speed dials you where ready to do some crazy speed stunt records so she might just have saved your life so kiss and makeup
@1badpete999 Actually a lot of riders keep a camera rolling because when the cops are called its often assumed the person on the bike is at fault. Just look at your comment for an example.
@stubobbyo - bike all good now, was only superficial damage (scratching and bent lever), but paint, lever, peg , carbon re-coat = dollars. Couldn't believe how much the repair bill was - but I didn't have to pay :)
@cjeff77 yeah a woman recently backed into the front corner of my car. I think it was about $700 to fix my headlight, bumper, side pannel etc but it came to almost $2,000 cause of labor. I didnt have to pay either which was fantastic, but my car history isnt so clean which really really sucks. Esp since I take such good care of her :(
@cjeff77 I know all about the "not seeing / Not looking". How can a car rear end a motorcycle at a stop sign right in front of them ? That happened to me. And yes, very expensive to fix. exhaust, handle bar scratch, small fairing scratch about $2000 (again a low speed crash) NOTE: Older cheaper bike with limited fairings.
Stinking four wheel drives! How come everyone needs a 2.5 ton vehicle to get around in these days!!! Oh yeah, its because of all the fricking four wheel drives on the road!
@Designandrew - A wise person once said "tis better to be thought of a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" My bike has only a flashing green light to let you know the indicator/turn signal is on - it doesn't indicate direction - but I guess with you knowing all things that you probably already knew that...
@Designandrew haha.. you sir, are retarded. you blame him for the accident because you are too ignorant to know what you are talking about and then you call HIM a douchebag. if your goal was to make yourself look retarded you not only beat that horse to death, you also shot it in the head 12 times to make sure it was dead.
It's hard to see your road position on this... but could you have been a bit far over to the right?
I ride push bikes and at roundabouts I'd be more towards the middle of the lane than it *looks like* you were. Logic being that you're more visible when in the middle of the lane than at either side as the middle is where people look *for cars* (that's key, cos those who look for *bikes* are far less likely to hit us).
Glad it wasn't too bad a hit and you were OK. Reckon she looks for bikes now?
@thirteenfingers - if you pause at approx 7 secs, I'm dead centre in the lane. The 4WD that hit me hasn't even gotten to the round-a-bout at that point. With the camera fixed to the bike you can't see, but I saw the 4WD about 1-2 secs before it hit me, moving to the right was my deliberate reaction to avoid being smacked dead centre by the 4WD, which obviously worked as I only got clipped on the side. If it wasn't for the large curb in the middle, I may have been able to keep it upright.
@thirteenfingers - Also, I saw the 4WD at approx 9 secs, then moved towards the right to stop being smashed, I was hit just at the end of 10 / beginning of 11 secs. From entering the round-a-bout @ 7-8 secs to being hit @ 10 -11 secs the whole thing only to 4 seconds. From seeing the 4WD not giving way @ 9 secs to being hit took a whole 2 seconds, I'm lucky I was even able to get the bike partly out of the way as you can see clearly where she eventually stopped - I would have been smashed.
@cjeff77 Not knowing where the camera is and how the bike is laid out are some of the reasons I tend to reserve judgment on these things.
It sounds to me like you did all you could... not that you need my approval of course. :o)
Drivers like this are the reason I don't like the "make eye contact" approach to stopping pull-outs (not that you used it here). It assumes too much and means "I looked at the driver" which means nothing when the driver hasn't even seen you... like the one who hit you.
@thirteenfingers sometimes they just hit you. I was travelling through an intersection in the middle lane, clearly visible and a lady turned across my path and gave me the token Sorry mate i didn't see you line.
Don't ever expect other drivers to see you, you should expect them NOT to see you. There was a big yield sign on the left before you entered into the merge so it's not the driver's fault.
