  • if i buy this camera will it shoot this kind of footage out of the box? or i have to buy parts and upgrade? please explain, i dont get it?

  • You can get similar images but you won't get the exact image. Phillip Bloom was using a Canon 20x HD Lens with this cam. The EX3 comes with a Fugion 14x HD lens.

I thought he was using a 35mm adapter because of the DOF and Vignetting, But that was done in post.

  • 1:20-1:23

Notice the buses window. The red around it is pixelated up against the contrasting lines of the window frame. (yes I notice this stuff)

Can anybody explain to me why this happens? I have a wedding video that I did where the contrasting lines of a girls red shirt against the background shows this pixelation as well.

Is it just the color red?

This video is amazing Philip. EX's are sick.

  • It's just red, and orange in general for some reason. They are very vibrant and bright colors that tend to have a lot of bleed to them, plus its not 4:2:2 color space ... if you want that, get an HVX200 or another Panasonic that has that color space. The EX series is only HDV at 4:2:0 color space, not true broadcast color, like their Cinealta is.

  • marvelous

  • what lens did you shoot this with?

  • very nice.

  • I'm leaning towards the Canon at the moment because of the better vid quality but I feel that the sony might allow me to do more creative things like the time lapse and shot transitons......I really love your time lapse stuff..

    justin

  • so which did you get?

  • None.. I ended up ordering an HV-30 from B&H. I'm going to use the HV for a bit and save up for the Panasonic AG-HMC150. The HMC has all the features I want and it's tapeless..I hear it has the widest lens in its class too

  • what do you think to the the new red cameras

  • the footage i've seen from the red is fantastic. That camera is a good bit beyond prosumer (price/features) in my opinion. I am no pro myself but if I had the money and the sure bizz I would go for it.

  • Hey Philip, I love all your work. The Ex1 is my dream camera but in reality I can afford either a Canon XH-A1 or the Sony HVR-V1U. I've read that the canon has larger chips which give it better resolution, low light capability and make it easier to achieve a shallow depth of field.

  • in my opinion, Panasonic > or = to Canon, both are > Sony
