First time I watched this movie, at school, I was about ten years old. 'til the end of the movie I actually believed that he disarmed the soldier around the corner and wore his clothes to save himself together with his kid :'(
I'm so glad you put Life is Beautiful in your top 10. It's such an emotional movie, not to mention that being italian it makes me really proud of my country.
i prefer it in Italian its more emotional, the soldier even says to the boy "you don't understand a word i'm saying do you?!" that itself makes it interesting, in the English version they change so much and it breaks the connection quite abit with the movie as to if it was i Italian.. (im not Italian by the way but i appreciate the italian version better)
The kid in this movie`s real name is Guissipononino Abortrucci-Napalitono.
He was 19 when this movie was made and is acaully an actuwarious type dwarf. Meaning he will never be taller. The fellow playing the american soldiers is from the Czech Republic,, he was speaking Arterian during filming and it was dubbed over in English. In real life he had never heard of America or the second world war.
@xvoy2002 the ittle boy name is giuseppe Cantarini, he was just 6 at the time. what are u talking about? dwarf?? u joking! he was just 6 for god sake!!! and how can u say the guy pLaying the soldier never heard of america? ahahaha gosh , and some people belives what u said lol
Hey how do you get clips from movies and upload it to youtube becuz i'm making a vid similiar to this but lol don't worry I'm not copying u. plz tell me k. thanks
this movie was so compelling and so heartfelt that at times i felt my heart was going to come out of my chest.. if one thing and one thing only anyone can learn from this movie is that LOVE.. hands down and above all can accomplish anything and will never let you down.
@famguydabestlol It's because its in english. You have to watch the original version in Italian, it is amazing. I am not emotional at all and I find this movie heartbreaking.
the first time I saw this I was uncontrollably crying. I could not believe that he just was shot so quick. Then when he finds his mother....I turn into a puddle. MY God.
God, I promissed myself I would not cry again... Guess it was a lost cause. Needed to pause the video to get some tisues.. Amazing movie. Beautiful from the beginning to the end.

the trains planes and automobile scene with john candy and steve martin argueing in the hotel room is my number 1 sad scene its just the most unexpected scene in a comedy and it gets to me everytime x

i love lifeis beautiful- i always sob when the littleboy is reunited with his mother andyou hear him saying- this is my fathersgift to me- o god i love that movie
I watched 'Life Is Beautful' in a History class about four years ago and have seen several times since. Every time this scene comes up and he's lead behind the wall I want to do that waving fingers thing he does to bring him back out. And after all is said and relatively done, his son leaves his hiding place and shouts "It's true!" -in Italian, I mean- major weeping each and every time. ToT
first time is aw life is beautiful i was little and i didn't cry but i understood it had a sad genre to it...Again i saw it last year or in 9th grade and I truly wanted to cry but too embarrassed because of people around omg I really broke down when the dad starts "mock marching" he built a safe and innocent world for his son in the darkest times they faced and i knew he was gonna die so i just broke down
oh man...finally i find a fan of the movie!! Moulin ROuge is the best movie ever...tank you Nicole Kidan and Baz Lurhmann to be born!! I still cry when i watch...=)
life is beautiful is one of my favorite movies the first time i saw it i was 7 and i didnt really understand it and i didnt know the name of it later when i was 12 i saw it again and i cried like a baby
My top 10 saddest movies are Dangerous Minds(definitely my saddest movie), Selena, Hoop Dreams, Bridge to Terabithia, Pursuit of Happiness, Old Yeller, Bolt (2008), Disney's the Kid, No Reservations, and Fools Rush In
@Lazyguy22 I cried on Bolt. really. And don't say I cry for anything. I'm actually pretty hard to cry. I don't cry in Armageddon, Pay It Foward or Lion King. ¬¬
My list would definitely include The English Patient, which nobody seems to remember (not that old), Portrait of Jenny (OK, that one is old), Steel Magnolias, Gone with the Wind, Somewhere in Time, and many more.
-The Deer Hunter, Spartacus, Gladiator, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, I Am Sam, A.I., Stand By Me, Schindler's List, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, American History X, Pay it Forward, The Professional, Sophie's Choice
-Those are all i could think of, and yes i did think of Titanic.
good choices... i thought the end of gladiator is a good choice too, very powerful ending... pear harbor actually made me teary which is super uber rare for me in movies... i havent seen it but i heard marley and me is fning sad... lion king i dont think was sad for me really, even as a kid
Italian Jews were put in a concentration camp during The Holocaust. Throughout the entirety of the concentration camp, he tells his son that its just a "Game" that they need to win for a prize. Tragic movie...
to add on to what VisualOrgasm said, not only does he convince his son it is a game, but he has to hide his son because the nazi's killed all the children becase they could not work
I cry every time he cries "Mama!" because you don't whether she lived or not - and then when he says it, you know. And then he says they won! It's like twenty different tear-jerkers all at the same time.
life is beautiful is such a great movie, he keeps stalling and stalling that their winning the compitition 4 the tank and in the end his little boy gets it XDXD
agree with #1!! life is bautiful is one of the saddest movie ever with this devotted father on his way to death but still joking around to make his son believe that all this is a game this was so brave ...and he finaly won his tank
when you tink about the storyline and plot, its sadder that braveheart, titanic ,and armaggedon rolled into one, but yet i fail to see how it ISNT funny when ur watching it
omg i so remember this movie it was this family sent to a concentration camp and they wer seperated and the dad didnt want to let the little boy no he was in a nazi death camp so he sed it was a game and the nazis rnt aloud 2 see u and he sed the winning prize was a tank then at the end the dad is killed and the little boy lives then the amaericans attack the camp with a tank
This is too much for me! I don't think i can bear watcing it ever again! You could also have included like ALL the scenes from Cinema Paradiso! I start crying almost from the beginning whenever I watch it!
To be really honest. I just watched about six different "Most sad movie scenes" and Im really surprised that bridge to terabithia didnt come up cause that was actually really sad. mainly because it was unexpected.
This was a really sad movie! It is best in Italian, I know cuz my teacher made us watch it in italian with english subtitles and i wud never go back to watchin it in english cuz the italian actors are so good
First time I watched this movie, at school, I was about ten years old. 'til the end of the movie I actually believed that he disarmed the soldier around the corner and wore his clothes to save himself together with his kid :'(
(I know it's really stupid, but I was a child)

To be really honest. I just watched about six different "Most sad movie scenes" and Im really surprised that bridge to terabithia didnt come up cause that was actually really sad. mainly because it was unexpected.

What about the one with the Rabbits. They get run over by a brum-brum.

in order to understand the beautiful life scene, you have to see the whole movie.....not in english translation( just with subtitles)

Roberto Benigni (the main guy who plays Guido Orefice) also wrote and directed the film. Talk about multi-talented
