  • Please mate. HELP! I did everything you said and now my camera does not work. It says Camera: Feature not Supported. Please help! I do not know if I have done anything wrong as I did everything carefully. Can you show me perhaps how the camera should be. :(

  • @bengizsj2 if the camera prongs/terminals dont line up, it isn't going to be recognized by the phone. you may have got it around the wrong way, remember it has to touch the mainboard otherwise it wont work. If that doesn't fix it then it is a more serious problem.

  • i replaced my housing and now reception falls out all the time? help?

  • @LOADEDTANYAS11 go to 5:35 in the video, if you haven't put that into the new housing your phone won't work properly. if you do have that it and still having problems you may have damaged the gold prongs on the part in question. Unless you find them and glue them back on your phone will keep dropping out.

  • shiit , did everything u said , half of the keyboard doesnt work ((((((((((( and the phone itself work very very strangely , making radnom noizzes , i am soo upset ,literally crying :S

  • Your video helped me figure out where to place the little square trigger piece after it fell out of the camera flash area. I didn't see where it was when it fell out, so thanks for the help with your video!

  • i bought my cover off ebay it came with some blueish tool and a T4. i don't have a T6 were can i get a T6 ?

  • @MrBosancerozz the answer is in the sentence you just typed. You can find a T6 for a few dollars on ebay. I am sure you can find a good pack of various mobile phone tools for a bargain too.

  • @antistatic12 thanks, im worried that i might break my cover, do you think people at phone shops know how to change the cover and do you think they would ?

  • @MrBosancerozz it looks hard, but just take your time and you should be able to do it. But if you really don't feel confident just go to a mobile repair shop. They should be able to swap it over for you.

  • Alienware keyboard?

  • @Burstiin no it is a Microsoft Sidewinder X6.

  • 2nd Tip of the Day: It appears if you have a poor quality case you'll have issues, which is why it took me so long. Was quicker and easier getting it back in the original case. However, attempting to get it in the poor quality case I nicked a cable. Putting it back in the original case I can now see the cable is for the volume controls. Sure enough, they no longer work. Not that bothered as rarely use those but still annoying.

So changing covers not that easy and not worth the hassle.

  • @joeypesci sorry to hear you have had so much trouble. i do agree with you on that the cases that are not original are a lesser build quality. but the standard colors are boring. and i totally forgot about the little cable. i never had that problem so i didn't include it in the video.

  • @antistatic12 Taken a few photos and HD vids so might put them up. I found the volume buttons from original case don't fit in the replacement. Tried to use them as one of the buttons fell off the replacement buttons strip. Then one of the keys from the keyboard fell off. So assume I had a poor quality one. Even had to put in the spring clips for the battery cover myself. They needed bending to work properly, again cause they were made badly. Got case ages ago though so not bothered.

  • Tip of the day : Don't bother. Finally got mine back together but took hours. More trouble than it's worth. Not as easy as it looks. Mines not totally together properly but its working. There is several points need noting which you've missed. Like the cable to the right of the keyboard, half way up. If putting the front back on and not watching out for the clicks you can nick the cable, which I've done. Don't know what its for as phone still working.

  • Been going a couple of hours now. Still can't get it back in the bloody case. More hassle than it's worth. Although since Ive had it the power sockets been slightly faulty so would need to do it again to replace that.

  • i have a new case and tried changing it but one of my screws is really worn out and wont come out no matter wat i do any suggestions?!!

  • @slydogArmadillo Sounds like your screwed. ahaahah. sorry bad joke. Ok. i know there are tools out there that can remove screw that has been burred. The tool is called a Screw Extractor however i am not sure if they make them that small especially since the screw are not that big for the Nokia E71. You will just have to really try and get it out using whatever means you can. I had trouble getting one of my screws out , i just a flat head screwdriver as the screw was very burred. Hope that helps.

  • thanks for that but i think due to the adhesive behind the speaker is preventing me to lift it out. Im all but short of breaking the plastic case it sits in to get to it but not very keen too

  • hi could you please tell me how you removed the magnetic speaker bit in the back cover as my camera lens and mirror are stuffed and have got a replacement however need to put the speaker thingy in the new one and have NO idea how to get it out. First i thought you had to remove the 2 little pins but then no where to dig it out so pushed pins back in and hoped it didnt stuff phone needless to say its still workn thank goodness but put old camera bak bit in...PLEASE HELP

  • @spudsnpies Hi, all I did was use the tools in the video to lever/shimmy it out very carfully, I also pushed it up using the tools from the outside of the case (however i dented the speaker ,be careful).

  • @antistatic12

lol dude its nice video, but that u sid on 4:48 aint no capacitor, its a speaker dude!

  • @2fastO... if you read the annotation at that point i explain what it is. As i forgot when filming.

  • Dust and crap, dust and crap xD

Yo dude, I have some experience with psp modding,

you think I can do tthis to?

    Front plus back,

Want to make a gold one

    Thank you 5 stars!

  • the best phone ever

  • yeah no it helps a bit i just wanted to know if the back cover has the power button on it so if i changed that part of the phone and left the rest the same that i would then have a new power button!

  • what does the top of the back look like? i screwed up the area around the power button so i was wondering if just changing the red part in the video would be better than going and getting it fixed?

  • @starbarclay Check out my other video. Red Nokia E71. If that doesn't help please let me know, I am very Busy with TAFE ATM so i cant make another video but I should be able to take some Pics and send them to you if need be.

  • Great vid man, you're a stitch too "whoa that thing's magnetic". Great job, thanks for having the guts to tear open an expensive piece so others can learn. The guys who criticized how you made it, need to get a life, or watch videos with no sound. good on ya mate!

  • @pdonnans Thanks Mate.

  • Real good, thanks for the details and HD quality!

  • oh, nevermind. I forgot to put the bottom black piece back in.

    i completely freaked out.

    thanks anyways. lol.

  • for some reasnon, when i changed my case.

im done with it, and my phone has no signal??? any suggestions?

  • @msjudynguyen

Yeah you may have snapped of the prongs that connect the antenna to the main board, it has happened to me. if you read some of the other comments i have posted then it will tell you how to fix it. If you cant find any gold prongs at all then unfortunately you will have to buy some more and i dont know where to get them, maybe ebay.

  • great instructional video...i did everything u showed, but the keypad is pain in the neck because some of the keys around the keypad are quite hard to press and the nav key is loose...any ideas how i can fixx this? BTW i used my original keypad...

    cheers

  • @dabaadsha

Check ya inbox, for some reason youtube wont let me post a link in the comment.

  • @antistatic12

thanks a lot....u are the man...

  • I spent 15 hours trying to get it back together, gave up and took it to a shop in the end :D

  • Can you tell me the best source as where to buy a white keypad? I have black/grey standard e71... Im not worried about opening it up I used to work as a cellphone technician and this is one of the most easiest phones to work on. But can you please tell me where i can buy a good white keypad, I dont want to take risk with getting stuck with some cheap crap that wont feel good or wont fit... Thanx man!

  • @AlexSochi8 Unfortunately, i am afraid ebay is the easiest and cheapest place i found, i live in Australia and i went to a little fone shop and the wouldn't sell me the keypad unless i bought the whole kit for $120 AUD. so i turned to ebay, i have bought a few things relating to the E71 but the keypads are fairly decent, from my experience they were more or less the same as the original but if you had the option always go for original. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

  • Well Im planing on ordering from ebay anyway but there are many sources, any particular seller you recommend? btw thanx

  • who i recommend, well all i did was read the feedback on the other phone cases sold to see what people thought, that usually is a good indicator, if there selling decent or shit cases or keypads. i forget who sold me the keypad, but i am sure who ever you use, all the keypads come from the same Chinese factory.

  • lol true, thanks again

  • 1 more very important question.. with your after market keypad are the keys still backlit?

because the original keyboard is back lit and its very useful for none sunny situations

  • @AlexSochi8 yeah the back-light still works on My aftermarket keypad.

  • great news. Thanx buddy!

  • @antistatic12 hey how did you fix the prongs on the back like you mentioned. would you have to solder it would you?

  • @troylittle1234 I used a small thin layer of super glue, it worked great, i made sure i held the prongs in place for 1 minute to make sure the glue set firm and the prongs were in the right spots, it worked perfectly after that, although i have to stress if you use to much you might not let the signal pass through and if you use to little glue then they might fall off lose them as they are pretty tiny. Please do so at your own risk or let a pro do it, if you feel you dont have the experience.

  • @antistatic12 so you glued the prongs back on to the main circuit board itself? any other tips? im thinking that i need to make it so there is alot of springage in the prongs? i dunno im jsut spitballin here

  • @troylittle1234 yeah i just glued them on, i think they were glued onto begin with, could be wrong though maybe mine was just faulty.

  • What do you type in on ebay to get the covers? without having to purchase a full kit :)

  • So do you just want the back of it and not the front, cause they usually only sell the whole kit.

  • yeah just the back of it?: )

  • Hi, I hate to use you as tech support for my E71, but I was hoping that you could help me. The tiny pin inside of the charging port snapped off and now I can't charge my phone. Is this part soldered on? Any idea on where to get a part like that?

    Thank you!

  • NO it is not soldered on, it usually likes to fly out when i change my case so taking it out is no problem, the only problem is trying to get the replacement part. I Am not sure but try ebay and maybe ring Nokia see if the have a spare parts division, Is it under warranty you might want to check if it is covered unless it is really obvious you broke it. IF all else fails and your E71 is worse for wear then do what i did and get a Nokia E72.

  • Thank you so much! I found the part online so it's just a matter of waiting a week for it to ship from Hong Kong. Maybe I'll get a few parts to replace the ones I banged up too!

The E72 will eventually be mine. ;) How are you liking yours? I'll have to wait until the price drops lower than it is. $400 is too close to Nokia N900 pricing. Almost purchased a BlackBerry Bold 9700, but BB just isn't for me..

  • Yeah i am loving my E72, loved the E71 but with the updated features like 5mp camera and 3.5mm jack and updated GUI, which is a lot faster too. I love it so much i have not even opened it up yet to check in side the case.

  • there should be a disclaimer at the start that warns girls like me who've never done this stuff before, that they will probably want to throw up with nervousness, incase they break their most precious possession :P haha, thank you for this vid however, helped me out sooo much and go aussies!

  • LOLZ....

  • Hi there, I have a question. My nokia e71 earphone speaker is cracking alot so I want to replace it. Can you replace by just taking the front cover of that you know? Or is it soldered?

    Thnx you in advance.

  • of the top o f my head the only speaker you can easily replace is the top speaker as it is not directly soldered onto the main board, of you are referring to the speaker you use normally when making calls your on your own, hope your still in warranty.

  • that's the one I ment indeed. I bouht it second hand so I don't think I have any warranty anymore. But i found a webshop who sells the speaker for 10 euro's (15 us dollar). So I will replace it and hope that that will fix the problem.

    Thnx for the info.

  • That black thing on the bottom which you also have no clue what it is - it is antenna (bt, wifi, gsm).

Good video, but if you called urself an expert you should at least have proper clean desk for making such a video. And also, less talk and more picture would be appreciated ;) Use that HD camera m8. Cheers!

  • yeah man i know now, cause the prongs that connect to it broke of, if you read the info you would have known. yeah i wish i had a clean desk, but i have a small room. yeah i agree i should have had more pics, but i cant be bothered and people on youtube are stupid so i dont bother wasting my time. they should be lucky i even bothered to do this.

  • Thank you so much for this! I got mine done and I'm so happy I didn't screw it up! It took me about 3 hours though...haha but it was worth it. =)

  • Im a cellphone technician and by looking at this video your not doing so bad at it kid. Its really all practice. But E71 is one of the easiest phones to take apart just like blackberry

  • that thinh at 4:48 wich you have no clua about what it is, it's your vibrator. it has a weight spinning inside of it ;)

    great vid

  • nice video and thanks.key board of your computer is very nice one which one is it mate reply please

  • Microsoft SideWinder X6 Keyboard, pretty good keyboard ,the numpad can go on either side, there a probably a couple of reviews on youtube. so check em out.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, great help,

I will try post a video response of me following your tutorial when my white fascia arrives!

  • Hey, can u tell me, where have you bought new full cover? site?

  • Hey antistatic, thanks dude!

I appreciate the shout-out in the video.
