When I was a kid, my Mum took my brother and I to the end of Southend pier and back on the train. On the way back I was aware of a strange man in a mauve velvet suit with another similarly odd looking bloke, absolutely endlessly laughing their heads off. Now I'm nearly fifty, I can look back and remember clearly that it was Viv with a mate, completely off their tits on mushrooms. I so dearly wish that I could have been the other bloke.
It is important to remember (or research) just why Vivian wrote this song. There is absolute genius tinged with sadness; even tragedy. A blessed memory to a remarkable man. Until we meet agai, Vivian. x
@Caesar1312 I think this is the best comment I've ever read on youtube!! What a memory, I only wish I was there with you, on the dray cart. Viv was a genius, sadly missed in these grey and austere times....
sounds a lot of fun ----- giddy upp !

Something like that.... Not as good as the great Viv himself. Good to have a friendly post in reply...

Makes me proud to have a ginger beard - a sort of substantial sub-Stanshall
