You need to add shadows, also your edges are way too soft. Try adding some edge blur around the matte, so you can keep your edges hard but have some of the BG peek through. Good luck honing your skills.
We just masked off the edges. It's a 2 second job, very easy. Literally like taking a pair of scissors and just cutting away the edges of a piece of paper.
There was a real sun in that same position (hence the beautiful sunset), but we enhanced it with an optic effect. This also enabled us to have the sunlight interact more realistically with the person as he walked past.
I think you're missing the point slightly :) The software allows you to composite any greenscreen video onto any background footage, theres no requirement that it has to be a Hawaiian beach. We just used the footage that was available to us at the time, I'm sure you must have some cool footage of your own.
If you really wanted to do a Hawaiian beach scene, I'm sure there's plenty of stock footage stores that have similar footage. Or we could put you in touch with the guy that filmed ours, lets us know.
One of our users (Garrison) very kindly filmed it himself and sent it over to us. He's lucky enough to live out in Hawaii. The beaches there are slightly better than where we're based in England. :P

wow, you did a good job, i brought a greenscreen but sony vegas is pretty bad for chroma keying

great job. the only problems are that it seems too sharp and there are no shadows. I use AE, so I dunno if you can even do shadows in FXHome.
5/5

You can indeed do shadows. This clip was created many years ago. :) Check out our channel for some of our more recent stuff.

this has got to be the best "home made" composite i have ever seen. the sun flare really sold it. great job!

Thanks for the tips. :) We did this a fair few years back (the clip itself is much older than it's 2007 upload date), hence it being a bit primitive.

Cool, Btw does it matter what camera i have ? i have a 10.2 mp samsung digital camera other people have real movie making ones
DynasticProductionz 2 years ago
If you want to be doing special effects it's best to use a proper video camera. The better the camera the better the end results!

I Only have a 10 mp digital camera and i canot afford a propper one

Possibly, that's up to him. He's not an FXhome employee.

was the sun real or one of the effects?

I love you guys! This is great!

Hi, Thats a really good video, but how did you get that sun effect?
adamswapitshop 4 years ago
It's a mixture of the location sun and a CG optical flare created in VisionLab.

So say we don't happen to have perfect sunset videos of hawaii, how would this video improve my chances of wanting this editing software?

No thanks. Sorry if I sounded judgmental.

Cool, you should put the plain bg footage in the download section of fxhome. Well, if you can.
