I think she should stick with the Clyde wig permanently. Suits her much better than the too bright red she's been sporting lately. Love this video..and the song is just brilliant. Cannot wait for the new album :)
@FuckYourGodYourLord All her songs have a first-person perspective. Her lovesongs are always bittersweet, or just bitter. I think the guy in Northern Lad must've been the best sex she ever had. Sounds like the guys who came before him were either assholes (precious things) or conflicted (hey jupitor) and her husband sounds like a dud. Her recent songs sound more like fantacy, i.e. Big Wheel, Code Red. I think she's submissive to her husband because she is the pretty one in the relationship.
I def don't think she's happy w Mark, or in England for that matter (but that's just based on my interpretation of her lyrics). I think Big Wheel is about someone trying to make her sexlife work with a partner she's not all that into, by creating drunken fantacy. I think she likes Mark artistically but is probably wanting a guy who's a little better in bed. 500 Miles also seems to be wishful thinking about her relationship, which is probably more realistically depicted in That Guy
@languedamour This isn't about Reznor. The "nest" metaphor is clearly about family/home-life (i.e. husband and daughter), not some supposed fling 20 yrs ago. It's about when someone you love turns that thing you love into a weapon. To me it sounds like it's about a toxic marriage and she's longing for "someone else to understand."
@torifan4life read the lyrics, youre not interpreting them right. starling is a blue bird. "you can find him online most of the time". twitter > trent reznor. "starling, you were right, i am the jealous kind". reznor broadcasted his wedding and newfound happiness with mariqueen all over the web. "so, when they play, play the song, sing along.."- obviously njne inch nails. and many more metaphors.
@languedamour I just reread the lyrics and I still think it's about a woman whose husband isn't listening to her, so she turns her attention the birds, trying to sing along, so someone will hear her. Her husband only hears things in black and white, but she needs someone who will listen to deeper emotions. I think "Fire to Her Plain" has similar themes, only more about her daughter than husband. Both songs are about more than "I'm jealous of my ex's happiness." I doubt she loses sleep over trent
@torifan4life i do. and i do not believe she is quite fulfilled with mark, also. at least, that`s what the songs tell me. you have your point, i have mine.
@daedamot I was thinking the exact same thing, I mean I prefer some of her songs to others, but there seriously isn't a bad one among them, and it isn't like she's only got a few, theres hundreds of them, what other artist can you say thet about, even the Beatles had plenty of chaff.
@bobbyatomic And there are MANY fans who will disagree with you, naming songs like Ireland (which I personal love), Not Dying Today (no, actually, I don't like that one), and basically bashing on anything after Scarlet... most of which I absolutely love...
@Yetaxa Don't forget Police Meeee! But I bet you love that one, Tori being a ~*GODDESS*~ and all that. "To get off he cries 'slutty goth', but I'm a brightly colored person" - pure POETRAH.
Unknown? I don't think so. Tori was HUGE in the nineties. Little Earthquakes was monumental when it was released, as well as being influential to many other female singer/songwriters.
From what album and year is this?

Is it even possible for Tori Amos to write bad songs? She's been going for two decades and I have yet to hear an album that I don't absolutely love.

If Tori got rid of the doll wigs, would anyone really miss them?
Once again, fuck you, Mac Aladdin. This would've been a great song had you not injected it with your campy eighties guitar at 2:53.
