If Every Single American regardless of their Political, Religious; Age, Personal Status; or anything that could lead to Personal Separation watched: "Ring of Power: Empire of the City-Full Length Documentary;" you would understand How "OUR" Hi(S)tory has been Totally Controlled and Manipulated by One Single (Hidden from Public Scrutiny) Group of Parasites and has absolutely DECEIVED "EVERYONE!" It's amazing how he sang a very long song and yet just smiles and bows at the end like it was easy. Whenever my friends and I sing it, we almost lose our voices at the end.
Americans have a wonderful and rich culture, I don't know why they hide it from the rest of the world and only show their worst crap instead. America taste like apple pie, not like diet coke. America sounds like Don, not like Gaga.
This has been my all time favorite song since I was 4 years old. I knew the song word for word. I'm 43 now and I still sing this song at the top of my lungs, word for word, every time it plays. Good stuff!
This is probally one of the best songs ever written. its so moving to see Don Mclean shed a tear at the end of the song. I mean shoot, i usually have to hold back the tears everytime i hear this song. Its forever a classic...
Hearing these performances really make me appreciate Don Mclean ever so much more than I did when I was young and hearing the radio versions. Thank you very much for this wonderful treat, I enjoyed it so very very much!
I honestly love this song to pieces... it really is a shame that I can't really get the symbolism since I'm a teenager... Maybe that's part of the reason I love it so much.
The most famous 45 seconds of my life was this song. I walked into a hole in the wall pub that I regularly visited. Cigarette smoke on the ceiling and pizza and butts on the floor. There were about 2 dozens drunken old men sittin at the bar, looking down at thier pints wondering what happened and this song was on the junk box. At the chorus part I started too sing the chorus and geered the losers to join in, the whole pub joined in...what a party that night..I closed the place LA ZEE ZAA
i can remember this was on a 45 end when the radio stations would play it the they only played one side of the record because the song was like 8 mins long
Having watched this so many times, I now enjoy live acoustic guitar performances more than those with a band. Don's performances with only his acoustic guitar are truly the best!

Hi everyone, I'm from Israel.
I think it's definitely one of the top songs ever, because of 3 reasons:
1) A lot of allegories, and words with an important significance, and important history significance
2) A great and not obvious melody
3) A special singing ability of Don,
Under the influence of his Opera learning and experience.

@kocsogarc I think he's crying and it's around the verse on Janis Joplin, the girl who sang the blues.

My dad was a paperboy when this song came out. When Don sings "..bad news on the doorstep.." it flashes him back to those days.
