Watson argues that United Nations resolutions authorize him to commit violent acts. But he regularly interferes with fisherman and hunters who are committing no crime. He serves as judge, jury, and executioner -- while enjoying the same tax-exempt status as universities and churches.
Watson also has a seething hatred of the people whose livelihood he threatens. Hes an elitist who, despite his upbringing among maritime fishermen, has no sympathy for those who make their living from the ocean. He begins his book Seal Wars by calling Canadian sealers the uneducated and the institutionally unemployed, barbarians, and piss-drunk on cheap booze.

The bottom line Paul Watson and the SSCS are frauds and their only interest is to select issues that have the greatest fund raising opportunities. Ever wonder why they are not helping the Gulf of Mexico? Simpe anwer there is no fund raising potential in saving sea turtles, helping clean up beaches etc.

SSCSs mission is to stop fishing of which it disapproves. Its preferred methods? Ramming and sinking fishing ships, throwing butyric acid on their decks, and firing machine guns. Watson argues that United Nations resolutions authorize him to commit violent acts. But he regularly interferes with fisherman and hunters who are committing no crime. He serves as judge, jury, and executioner -- while enjoying the same tax-exempt status as universities and churches.

Hes an elitist who, despite his upbringing among maritime fishermen, has no sympathy for those who make their living from the ocean. He begins his book Seal Wars by calling Canadian sealers the uneducated and the institutionally unemployed, barbarians, and piss-drunk on cheap booze.

Do you know that the conservation movement actually grew out of the need to protect animals and habitat for hunting in fishing!!!! and the first National Park in the USA was set aside for this reason.

@CDLver What has happened is that there is such a disconnect between what people eat and an understanding of where their food comes from that we end up with organizations like PETA. The need today is to rebuild that connection and to focus on smaller and more traditional ways of raising food including live stock. I am surprized PETA, HSUS etc does not focus on this in stead of ranting and raving.

@CDLver O, one more thing next week I am having flipper pie at my mother in laws. Seal, raised on the open water, no antibotics, no force feeding, lots of room to swim and some even may have had a crack at the misses seal. Cows, turkeys, pigs and chickens raised in factory farms don't have that life do they? They are not fit to eat but seal, moose and trout, nothing better.
