Interesting to be the first person to comment on this song. Its funny, in a lot of ways the general substance of pop songs has not really changed but its the style and the panache that seems to have disappeared. You very rarely get quirky and interesting songs like this any more.
@BelatedCommiseration I think you're wrong. This was released at the zenith of the Thatcher government when they crushed unions and local councils (especially Liverpool) and tried to force teachers to teach kids that if they were homosexual then they were abnormal. A Scouser and homosexual like Holly had better things to do than release this fluffy nonsense!
@DrewMurray1874 But I at least a get the impression theres some kind of whimsical ironic humour going on there that is at least individual, rather than the bland uniform treadmill of popular culture that is pre packaged and marketed wholesale to us gaping consumers. I know, the market has always been self interested as you say but at least there seemed to be room for some individuality. Anyone, just cos your gay why would every statement you make need to be an 'important' political point?
....."enigmatic"......so true. Holly, you were, & are, brilliant at what you do; and I wish I had an ounce of your character
