They should've just remade the original rka with hd sprites instead, new rocket knight was ok but underwhelming, weak bosses, forgettable music (bar swine labs and first level rka music remix), sparkster was emotionless, no boss rushes, too predicitible, short and too easy and a rka shouldn't be too easy, finally sparksters original model was the best and iconic (not the punk one in sparkster or this one where you can't really see him).

What's with all the 2.5D games? Yeah 2.5D looks nice and I guess New Super Mario Bros., and Sonic 4 look ok but you know what would look even BETTER? Hand-drawn HD graphics. Anyone who's seen the Sonic The Hedgehog HD screenshots knows what I'm talking about. Also, Street Fighter 2 HD Remix looks EXTRAORDINARY, better than any 2.5d game out there. I wish they'd make this in HD hand-drawn graphics. sigh.

Thank FUCKIN GOD they didn't let Sparkster die off. He was like the bad ass version of Sonic to me when I was a kid. I loved Rocket Knight Adventures 1 & 2 and Sparkster! This game looks amazing, It'd be slightly more badass if it had 2p and the 2nd player was Sparkster's lifelong rival Axel.

I agree, despite the fact that I'm not like the design 100%, a few months before this was announced, I was actually thinking of writing to konami, sending the part from the manual to order a shirt(yes, I have the original Genesis/MD game, along with case and manual), and ask for another Sparkster game, regardless of what they did to him.

So I am pleased that they at least brought it back, and I also LOVE the music. :)

Graphics and animation are what made the original stand out. This could be any generic platformer in the Walmart bargain bin, the way it's presented. Sparkster looks creepy now...

But I'm totally hoping the game at least plays well. That would make the creepy armored rat a lot more bearable.

By going to a different style they have messed with one of the aspects of the series that many of its fans found enjoyable and that helped make it so endearing. If they screw up the gameplay as well then it is totally trashed.

While like many, I'm uncertain the art-style suits Sparkster, I'm sure the gameplay will be as good as the predecessors.

Graphics never made any game for me, if a game looks good, I just consider that an added bonus.

Biggest thing we all gotta remember, it is going to digital platforms first, this is NOT being released as a full priced retail title... at least not to my knowledge.

So for all intents and purposes, I'm very excited to see Sparkster alive and well again.

One of the best things about RKA and Sparkster was the soundtrack- and they've gone and replaced it with this generic orchestral stuff! Even the art is sub par... look at the clouds!

However, the gameplay looks decent, so I'll hold out hope.

As a fan of the Rocket Knight series, I am disgusted with this game. These graphics are horrible, and I am not crazy about the re-design. The retrospective in the beginning was the best part of the whole trailer.

Personally, I think it looks alright, but there are plenty of things still needing work. Although 1UP's preview said that the stuff they saw was an alpha build and they weren't even allowed to play it, it still needs a lot of work.

1: Visuals. Everything looks too cluttered and nothing like RKA. It's all... well, too dark or dullish. Certainly there are bright colors, but they're still quite dull. If they brightened it up, then I'd be happy.

2: Gameplay itself. It's too slow. The original game was fast paced and fun to play. If you want an example, go look up the second flying stage of Rocket Knight Adventures. That's obviously fast and looks like a lot of fun. Meanwhile, the flying here looks... well, kind of boring, to be honest.

3: Art Direction. While this could go under visuals, there are some things that don't look right. For one thing, Sparkster himiself. In the original game, he looked rather cute. Here, he looks... well, sorta like he's spacing out. Axle also has the wrong armor color (red and black? sounds like somebody else I know... *cough*). And that giant mech shown doesn't even look like it's being piloted. All you see of it is big green glowy eyes.

I keep having this horrible feeling that all of the critique put into the graphics and music will cause this new title to be canceled in the future. However, I certainly cannot argue that the graphics and especially Sparkster's image need a lot of work. So far, it seems that the company could have done this years ago. While I agree that I'm not fond of how the graphics but not enough to start screaming that they "RUINED RK FOREVER!!!" The game isn't going to be out until sometime next year, giving the developers time for improvement.

What concerns me is the music, it sounds pretty bland and unfitting for an RK game. I'm really hoping it's not a sign of how the rest of the soundtrack will be.

Gameplay wise, it looks wonderful which makes me look forward to playing this.

I agree with your point of view. I have commented in another video about some fears I have about the game, but after seeing this trailer again, I take notice that they have accomplished adding the original game's rocket physics rather well. There is some hope, but as you said, there is still a lot of room for improvement, and I believe one of those things is the overall feel of the game. For me, it's feels like they are trying to rip off Megaman Powered Up.

About the only thing I don't like so far are the graphics, but hopefully, they'll be improved when the game gets released. Gameplay-wise, it looks great! (And gameplay > graphics!)
