  • what orange amp variant used on the electric sponnagel piano. quite strange I saw a sponnagel at a thrift shop while back got an optigan recently. 25 usd. from an antique shop.

  • bellissimo ho ancora lp originale

  • thank you

  • damn good for rare studio material love renaisance and the yardbirds.

  • though it might of been island from the self titled first renisance. as it was also titled 'inocences and illusions'' though I have the line cd which calls it renisances first , and in the begining prologue and ashes are burning 72 double album harvest emi, long with turn of the cards and along with carnigie hall live.

  • didn't jane sing inocence. live or studio. heard that versions years ago. might of been in a record shop. some guy was playing. latter , think I also heard. it on yahoo radio

  • Do not let their ideals fall into oblivion ranges in body, mind, spirit and reality ... if you have time check out my creations and videos thanks

  • Thanks for this, Jim and helper. Jim, you are a fantastic drummer! (but you already knew that).

  • @bethany3844 No, he didn't! He's far too modest for that! ;-)

  • amazing quality, great to see this line up!

  • Do you have video with keith relf ?:O

  • very nice band <3 keith relf for the win !

  • I can't believe the excellent quality of this video, as it is so old. Makes me appreciate the original "Relf" Renaissance even more!

  • I saw Renaissance in Chicago at the Auditorium Theater, 3rd row center. They were on the bill with Cold Blood. Jane Relf lost her voice on the second song and Keith did all the singing. They were tremendous. Left in the middle of Cold Blood's set. Boring! No comparison. Came to see Renaissance. Not disappointed. Will always remember the feeling they generated that night. Still listen to my vinyl of them.

  • I do hear shades of The YB's here.... but slight.... love this band!

  • Keith's band after Renaissance was also incredible. I mean really good, one of the greatest unknown supergroups of the 70s... Armageddon. Search "Armageddon - Silver Tightrope" and prepare to be blown away! Armageddon: Keith Relf - vocals, harmonica (The Yardbirds, Renaissance) Martin Pugh - guitar (Rod Stewart, Steamhammer) Louis Cennamo - bass, bowed bass (Renaissance, Steamhammer) Bobby Caldwell - drums, percussion (Johnny Winter, Captain Beyond) And thanks for this!
  • This version is really enjoyable!! Love it utmost!!!!

  • Gee, what an unexpected treat to see this early version of Renaissance! I didn't know Keith could play guitar like that. Nor that Jane was so beautiful.

Does anybody know why this version of Renaissance quit so early, signing away their name to that "other" band?

  • Keith Relf, un des plus GRANDS!!!!! Cette version de Kings & Queens est fantastic!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • Timeless and so refreshing.

  • I only discovered this version of Kings and Queens some half hour ago; I have played it now three times. The album version has been one of my favourite tracks of all time for some 20 years, but this, this is really breathtaking... pure genius, the sound, the vision, it sends shivers down my spine. Thank you very, very much of uploading.

  • I saw them at an all night concert at the lyceum with this line up, with yes the nice and peter hammill also playing.

  • Wow...so good...one of my 3 favorite album...

  • I had see this incredible band in 69-70 at the Electric Circus (Lausanne) Switzerland - What a surprise to hear them again on the tube (RIP Keith Relf)

  • Brilliant and so spacey !

  • @vintagezigg Class!

  • Jim--I loved working the US tour with you!

    Bob Z

  • Jim (I guess you're Jim, if you uploaded this and you handle is 'JimMcCartyandCo'!) -- Fantastic stuff! Any more info on the context?, i.e. was this a 'live in-studio' performance filmed for some future use? Also, what do you mean by 'still not complete'? I hope there's more like this 'in the vault' still to come.

  • @progfan10 It was a live show for the German Beat Club TV programme, and I believe there's the full version of Kings & Queens (11:40) still around somewhere... but apart from that, I don't remember much about this, sorry! ;-)

  • @JimMcCartyandCo Are you really Jim?? if you are, i must say like the guitarist i am, that for me the less important thing in the band were the lead guitarists, i love the yardbirds not beacuse jimmy page was there, i love the cause i love your druming i love keith relf s singing and playing in harp,

a question: ¿ what guitars did keith relf played when he played ?

  • @alejandrosuckmy Thanks for that - I think Keith played a Gibson, but don`t know the model.

  • @JimMcCartyandCo I Love Renaissance since I discovered THEM In ´91 ; Just Love THIS Song; I AM Trying to do a Mixture off This and Ennio Morricone(once Upon in America), But Stíll Struggling; PROGRESSIVE ROCK RULES!!!

  • My goodness... the band were absolutely on fire here! Superlatives cannot really do this performance justice, but I'll have a go: Firstly, fantastic virtuoso musicianship, great balance, subtlety, dynamics... this song's got it all - and delivered with such panache, it's just wonderful! A live progressive-rock gem, suitably encapsulated to blow the minds of generations to come!!

  • Luis Cennamo, one of my favourite '70 bass player looks like Riccardo Cocciante or Ronnie James Dio...

  • The real Renaissance band...really awsome!!

  • Brilliant song. I love it!

  • This is really cool Jim!

  • This is the second half of what was The Yardbirds. The other half became Led Zeppelin. This is the same band that went on to become singer Haslem and composer Dunford fame. This was one of the earliest prog bands and it's nice to hear this early attempt at approaching rock music with a classical style. This is a major part of rock history.Like the caption said,it has been cut way short unfortunately but thanks for posting this JimMcCartyandCo..I wonder if this is THE Jim McCarty who posted this?

  • @rematpac Yes, you could say it's THE Jim! Though it's his "little helper" doing all the job, but he does come and visit his YT channel some of the time!... ;-)

  • @JimMcCartyandCo Thanks for letting me know. That is exciting to me as Renaissance's music has been a big part of my life.I'm really starting to get extremely interested in the original line up now that I have exhausted myself listening to everything in the Annie Haslem line up so thoroughly. The original line up was not only way ahead of their time, even now finally getting the appreciation it deserves all these years later around the world, but historically it's importance can never be understated

  • @rematpac No , the other half did not become Led Zeppelin . Only Jimmy Page played in THE YARDBIRDS .

  • @sonor23 But did not Page,The Yardbird's guitarist, breakaway from them to form his own group Led Zeppelin?

  • @rematpac You said this 3 months ago in your initial post :

" This is the second half of what was The Yardbirds. The other half became Led Zeppelin. "

Yes , Page left The Yardbirds to start LZ - everybody knows that . One person doth not make a HALF of a4 piece band . That's all I was pointing out .

So , anybody who attempts to clear up one of your messages is a troll ? You have thin skin my friend .

  • @sonor23 AND WITH NO LEAD GUITARIST,the group became split.Renaissance never to this day,and still performing even today ,never did recruit a lead guitarist but carried on to musically trump Zep by leaps and bounds even though they were never as popular with all the teeny bops.I checked your website sonor23 as I do most people's.I've only come across 3 real trolls so far and I'm not accussing you of being one,but your site has so much in common with the other 3 it's uncanny.Forgive if mistaken!

  • @rematpac You are mistaken , and I resent your suggesting that I am a troll .

  • @rematpac So what . HALF OF THE YARDBIRDS DID NOT BECOME LED ZEPPELIN ! Get it ????????

  • @rematpac well lets see, in order to get half of four, I think you'd need two, Jimmy Page was the only member of zeppelin that came from the Yardbirds, and since that is one out of four and not two out of four I believe that makes a quarter and not a half of the yardbirds, a quarter of the Yardbirds formed Zeppelin.

  • @rematpac thats not true Relf and Mcarthy left before page recruited John Paul Jones, after J.ones was recruited he got Robert Plant who then suggested Bonham for drums, they used the Yardbirds name for a short time but changed it after Page recieved a cease and desist order from Chris Dreja who claimed to still have the rights to the band name. all they did with the yardbirds name was a short Scandanavian tour and released no material and changed the name after the C&D order came.

  • @rematpac afterwards that album you talked about was a Yardbirds live album, and no one from Led Zeppelin except Page was on it, Chris Dreja was the bass player for that not Jones. They did start to work on one album with the Yardbirds name but it became the first Zeppelin album instead

  • @Adamboms O.K.,Well it sounds like you know more about it than I do,so now we both know that The New Yardbird's changed their name to Led Zeppelin before they toured or released an album.

  • @rematpac Well alright! thanks for the intelligent discussion.

  • @rematpac actually I just found out that jones did appear on single or two as a session musician in 66 when Page and Beck were both in the band, but I think that was it.

  • @Adamboms He was the 1st one to be involved with The Yardbirds from Zep after Page from what I've read. I'm glad I know most of the other details now,but the only thing I can't figure out is why there would be a rights dispute over The Yardbirds name when as far as I know nobody tried to use it until years later in 1984 for a Yardbirds reunion(without Relf who was electrocuted by his guitar in 1976).Relf and McCarty started a band called Together but soon changed their name to Renaissance.

  • Does anybody have the studio version of this song that they can upload?

  • Wow Just AWESOME!!!!
