@laoshu5000 My plan is simple. Get Intermediate in Japanese before next summer definitely going to happen since my vocabulary is growing by 10-20 words everyday and my listening keeps getting better and I,m pretty much hitting Intermediate books now and doing a sentence method as well. My Spanish should be back to conversational level next summer I shall begin French study in late June once I got an intermediate level in that I can buy Assimil books in french and new doors will open for me.
@laoshu5000 good idea you and your wife got there. Yeah, waking up back and forth feeding them was kinda odd for me but I,ve done it maybe 2-3 times now but never with 2 babies must be good taking turns lol. Power naps do wonders actually a lot of famous thinkers have done it and it helped them tremendously I also heard somewhere sleep is important for just about everything I bet Language is included in that statement. btw, your German is coming along great u got more doors about to open.
Once you learn German, a whole new world of books is going to open itself up to you. There are very good quality books for languages in German. Also, many of the lesser studied languages are in German. You will love it. Buske Verlag is great.
I saw "Teach Yourself Finnish" with cds at Half Price Books for $7.99. Part of me wanted to buy it, but my reason brought me back to reality. I barely have time for Turkish and Russian. How in the world would I take on Finnish, one of the world's most difficult languages? Not gonna happen. Sorry to say it, but it is just not gonna happen. BTW, nice collection, Moses!
I just recently bought myself 3 new language books(all for Mandarin Chinese). I have an Oxford Chinese dictionary, Mandarin Chinese grammar(the one that you told me about) and a different audio course. I am turned off by the "Complete" Mandarin Teach yourself course. For some odd reason, they don't use characters until the end. I'm shocked that you don't have "Learning Chinese Characters" by Tuttle. That book has single-handed taught me to write better than some NATIVES in JUST 3 months.
Godlike update as always. Looks like your back home are you getting some sleep I ask because I know how babies are at random hours of the night crying for milk etc... I,ve had to take care of kids a couple of times and had to wake up at numerous hours to feed them and make sure they went back to sleep other then that kids are great lol. I expect to see raccoon-mode Moses in future updates lol. After this I better get back to my studies.
@DarkOchestra2008 Yea we have a 3 hour schedule going for them. We wake them up every 3 hours to be fed and changed. It was hard at first because I wasn't used to taking sets of ''power naps'' like that. It's all good now though.
what i do when i study german is basically your FLR method. i think of everything and anything to write and i write it. if i dont know the word i look it up and try to use it over and over. & then i listen to german videos even if i have no idea what they are saying, the more times i listen the more words i can pick out.
Laoshu!~ Man, you make my language library look like a new kids bookshelf!~ I thought I had too many, but I see now I have nothing!~ I need to step my game up biiiigggg time, right!~
Sadly, only few of the courses are good and you have to plough through a lot of them. I checked 'Teach yourself Mandarin' and I hated the audio,I couldn't follow the speakers in the 1st lesson, but I came across some other course which had a proper and clear pronunciation for me. I wish they told us where the native speaker is exactly from, so we know which region I'll be following. I was also disappointed about Arabic, you learnt the classical version no-one speaks and ppl replied in English.
I think you're a bit like me when it comes to language books Moses. I don't celebrate Christmas but a couple people have asked me if I'd like a book. I didn't say no.... ;)
btw, how come you don't organize your shelves by language? Just a thought, but it looks like you did it by the publishing company which also makes sense.
@samuraialfredo That's a Persian course from the Spoken language series. I think I made a review on it a long time ago. I can make another one for you if you want since I have a better camera now. Let me know.
@laoshu505000 The course from Living Language? I have the living language book for Farsi and it looks different unless this is an older edition. It's fine, don't worry about it. I rather you make another Turkish resource update video since I'm still getting comfortable with it. I also have some new Farsi books I could share if you're interested. I know you're going to just study Canto and German, but I can show you these new Persian books in case you want to get on it again.
Awesome video my friend, awesome collection! Especially love your Teach Yourself load! I made an update video myself last week/week before, it's kinda nice to be able to see what we have sometimes
@samuraialfredo Actually this one is from ''Spoken Language Services, INC''
Although I'm actively working on German and Cantonese, I would still be interested in those Persian courses. Also, I remember you sending me some links to some very useful Farsi courses. It would be great if you could send those to me again.
