  • would be awsome to supercharger and put a radical cam in it to make it lope! :)

  • Whats the purpose of this motor? You gonna put it into something?

  • Ever think about making an entire 1/3 scale 69 or 70 boss?? and maybe making remote control gas/brakes and steering and shifter. that would be pretty badass

  • just being curious, how much did it cost you to build that

  • @TheProdigy199

I purchased the valve springs because I could get them more uniformly wound. I purchased the helical gears to drive the distributor and oil pump. I purchased the material, iron, bronze, steel and aluminum and some of the non critical nuts and bolts. I would say I have about $120.00 for all the material, gears and springs. The main cost was the time which was around 2500 hours.

  • @gbritnell WOW,thats amazing was it just time consuming or was it hard along with that?

  • How much does it weigh??

  • @Sirvalorsax

    It weighs about 16 lbs.

  • Curious, if it's 1/3 scale, is it really a 101 cubic inch motor?

  • haha how many horses ?

  • @pup9et

displacement is calculated using pi x r sq. x stroke. Where everyone seems to be confused is with the squaring part. The bore is 1/3 of the full sized engine. Full sized 4.00 inches. Model engine 1.20 inches. Now if you square 4.00 you get 16.00 but if you square 1.2 you get 1.44 inches. Quite a difference. The model engine is scaled to 1/3 of the full sized engine, by all dimensions.

  • @pup9et

    5-6 horsepower

  • @gbritnell thats more than my old go cart

  • Are there ne type of kits that you can buy and assemble?

  • @LordRevan1988

Nothing is available for internal combustion engine. A company named Stuart out of England sells machined steam engine kits that can be assembled.

  • if you can afford this its awesome, but since i cant ill just buy a real one :(

  • @ALLEN80Z28

It's not a matter of affording the engine. I built it so it's just my time and material.

  • @gbritnell then i wish i had your skills bro

  • I have tears of joy.

  • each induvidual little motor toeach wheel the best 4X4 ever

  • man all that work and ur just going to throw a 2 stroke rc carb on it? make a mini demon carb lol

  • @Verge513

I actually have a mini Motorcraft carb for it. I use the 2 stroke carb so that people can see the Motorcraft carb when it's on display.

  • I wished I could put that into my old tercel

  • Too bad it's not 1/3 scale horsepower.

  • so, how many horses does it put out?

  • you should make a custom adapter to run 4 carbs so it like a 4 barrel carb. that would be cool

  • Nice, but just one thing: It's smaller than a real 302, so it's not 302ci, so it's not a 302 lol

  • This could power your mom's vibrator.

  • that thing is so cool. you should power something with it like an rc car, or maybe kids power wheels =D

  • man! can find anything kits or completes for less then 5 grand. =( guess ill just buy a foxbody

  • @Spiegel420

You have to understand the amount of hours that goes into building something like this. Even if it was done with CNC the amount of hours to machine, finish and fit parts at even say $15 dollars an hour makes them extremely expensive. Mine was machined by hand and I have somewhere around 2500 hours in it. Multiply that times whatever hourly rate from $25-$65 an hour and you end up with big dollars.

  • @gbritnell most definately. alot of man hours. I could put the hours in a build it myself. but i'd still have to pay for cnc parts and its all so expensive! my idea was to make a mini chopper bike for around town. but with the cost in mind it'd be cheaper and get me further just to buy the 5.0

  • what is the first engine you ever made like to get into build engine wondering were to start thanks

  • @richardarichter123

I started with small steam engines. Naturally they were nothing like this engine. I had about 20 years experience when I started on this engine.

  • @gbritnell ok like to do a steam seen some good videos on how to steam engines thanks

  • could i power a bicycle with one of these? would it have any power with me on it?

  • @Spiegel420

It puts out about 5-6 horsepower so yes it would pull a bicycle with weight on it.

  • you sir are a artist

  • that would make an epic dirt bike motor

  • Holy crap...awesomeness!

  • Why do you call it a 302 when it is obviously a 100.6?

  • @gbritnell 100.6= 1/3 (Scale) of 302

  • @gbritnell 302/3=100.6666666666666

  • @JoeyMisanthropy cuz its 1/3 the size of a 302

  • @JoeyMisanthropy cuz its a model of a 302?

  • @maxpower700 Really? Your math skills are as well developed as your sense of humor.

  • @JoeyMisanthropy huh? wtf dude...... 302/3=100,666~7. but it is YOUR humour that is so bad, that NOBODY get's that bad joke....

  • @JoeyMisanthropy because it is a scaled 302

  • @JoeyMisanthropy It's intuitive to think it would be a 302 ci / 3 since it's a 1/3 scale... but if you divide the bore by 3 and the stroke by 3, the cubic inches is actually divided by 9. So 302 / 9 = 33.5 ci!

  • i cant tell the difference between the full size and that but they probably put out the same amount of hp lol

  • Ford Blue, And everything as it should be......... I have spent a lot of time looking at Ford 302 engines and this is the real deal..... smaller of course......... Yippy Ay A mini sirloins.... Sorry

  • Truely amazing work. What a great machine to build and own, well done,

  • you should dyno it somehow

  • Wow man that is amazing. How did you make the block and rocker covers?

  • @steve76384

Everything was made from bar stock. The block was hollowed out for the water jackets and the rocker covers were set up on a fixture and then machined as you see them.

  • so much respect mate

  • @motofreak1234

Thanks to everyone who has commented.

  • put that monster on an rc

  • where can i get my hands on one of these type of motors, i would love to have one! not the big blower ones but original looking motors like these!?

  • @70montecarloss

Good luck finding one. These are all made by people like myself who spend countless hours of machining and finishing. I have approximately 2500 hours in this one.

  • what type of fuel? Whats the wood box for?

  • @Alexsslawncare

It burns regular gasoline, 86 octane. The box is the ignition box. It has a small gel cell 6 volt battery and the transistorized ignition module. The module is triggered by a Hall effect sensor in the distributor, no points.

  • can you please tell me where you got it?

  • @maxsrandomcoolstuff

Hi Max, I built it, every piece except the distributor drive gears (helical) and the valve springs.

  • how much power do you think it makes?

  • @stoutamach

    About 5-6 horsepower

  • What's the displacement on it? 3.02 CI? lol

  • @1972FordF150

    6.7 cu. in.

  • so...CUTE

  • "Cast" a block and heads on a cnc? I think I have now heard it all.

  • @jea1961

Not CNC, not cast, everything machined from solid stock.

  • Have you ever figured out scale or real horsepower or torque?

  • 5 honda owners are PISSED....

  • 5 people are driving a prius:D

  • where can i buy an engine like this i want to learn how to fix engines for my own personnel truck an dotn have money to take classes so i think this would be the next best step

  • an you put that in my rc?

  • This should be the Ford .302!

  • That is Chuck Norris's drink mixer...

  • @rebelwithoutaporsche pff! Chuck Norris uses a full sized 302

  • @hakalakalaka1 haha why would he use a small 302 he uses the Chevy 572 as a daily driver and the 632 block for street racing

  • MAN thats awsome where do u buy those

  • where did you get the oil filter i want to buy one or a kit for around 500 any ideas

  • how much HP. do you think that thing makes???

  • wow, that is one great sounding scale V8!

  • AWESOME!!- Time to make a Go kart >:D

  • This would make the most awesome go cart engine EVER :D I could see it in some thing like a 1/3 scale '32 Ford Roadster :D

  • Wow it sounds pretty good considering you said it's not even tuned right. .....So you know your not finished right? You have to build a 1/3 scale RC Bronco for it. Then you can drive the grandkids around the yard in it. But seriously, really good job sir.

  • what oil weight do you use in this?

  • @callum11123

    Straight 30w.

  • How much does it cost?

  • Find a way to mass produce one of these babies and you'd be rich! Would take the place of kids riding the electric powered cars and also teach them a little about mechanics also.

  • where did u get that at

  • Great work and craftsmanship

  • 1/3 scale should be 1.6-1.7L, so it should be about as big as a Hondas engine.

  • @TiconderogaX Umm no, a 302 had a 4" bore and a 3" stroke so go on 1/3 of that i.e 1 1/3" by 1" times 8 cylinders and do the math. Something like 55cc....

  • @YaniT991 Last I checked, bore and stroke, are not how engines are measured...And speaking of math; how is 55cc's 1/3 of 5,000cc's?

  • Comment removed

  • @YaniT991 Well you're right about bore and stroke (sorry, I've just never heard of it being measured that way). Pretty interesting though.

  • @TiconderogaX Not a problem. You're now a step closer to building your very own miniature v8 :) I prefer full size engines though, bigger, stronger, faster (uh oh, starting to sound like a 70's TV show...)

  • @TiconderogaX Bore and stroke aren't how engines are measured? WTF? Yes it is. The formula for cubic inches is: bore*bore*stroke*.7854*number of cylinders. For the Ford 302 it would be: 4.00*4.00*3.00*.7854*8= 301.5936, rounded up to 302.

  • @MisterTwister2014 I already said that...

  • @TiconderogaX who cares. You want a fucking prize or something?

  • @cary19642003 A fucking prize? Well, that depends on the context of that arguement.

  • i'm curious, what does the exhaust smell like?

  • @69roadr

Just like your lawnmower, well unless it's a 2 stroke mower.

  • @gbritnell

    cool!

  • @gbritnell did you cast your block and heads on cnc?

  • @sc38converter

No, everything was machined on conventional machines, mills and lathes. The block was machined from aluminum with iron liners and the heads are close grained cast iron with stainless valves.

  • Comment removed

  • @gbritnell My long lost grandfather. Ever think of doing a 1/3 scale boxer motor of some sort?

  • Truly mind blowing, I would love to see your shop and how you pulled this off.....any chance of some videos showing how you did this????

  • @TosonDrums

I have a video of my shop. It's named A TOUR OF MY SHOP

The only thing I didn't do with my equipment was to line bore the crank and cam holes. I used a friend's Bridgeport for that.

  • So, it's really more like a Ford 100.7 ci? LOL, You know you should make a 1/3 scale Mustang GT, it would be the worlds most legit power wheel!! That's really cool!

  • If I made that beautiful creation, I would put it under my pillow and every night and kiss it good night and say "I love you."

  • fucking awesome. now make a 1/3 scale mustang to put it in!

  • srry i ment 305

  • 302 is a chevy motor

  • @chevy7377 chevy did have a 302 but ford is more knowen for there 302 small block

  • if its a 1/3 302 woudnt it make it a 100.6?

  • that thing has more hp than my toyota and it sounds better too

  • that motor is cool.. good job

  • If it heats up in 10 minutes you could run a boiler tank and an extra radiator or two if you were planning running something with it.

  • Very Very cool....but pointless!

  • Like how amerikans begins thinking about consumptions of their engines but holding their tratitions too. Great Engine!

  • HOW MUCH MPG WOULD U GET ON THAT LOL IF I PUT IT IN A SCOOTER

  • AMAZING

  • can you buy one of these awesome little motors?

  • @brent3360

Sorry, no. It was all hand made by me. I have about 2500 hours of building time in it.

  • @brent3360 Of course he can sell it. 2500 hours @ $50-00/hour---$125,000 . I've got one on order for my lawn mower.

  • Is it actually an oil sump or just imitation & running premix -I`ve been a ford man all my life I love it Where can I get one .

  • @MrMrtiki

It has oil in the pan with full pressure oil to all the internal components, lifters, crank and rods. The pump is driven from a shaft coming from the bottom of the distributor just as in the full sized engine. I use straight 30 weight detergent oil.

  • @gbritnell Very cool what do you think it would run -or for how long .

  • @MrMrtiki

I'm not quite sure what you mean. With the size of the radiator I have on it it will run for about 10 minutes before it starts to get too hot. The fan just doesn't pull enough air through the radiator for extended running.

  • @gbritnell Was wondering if it would run a mandrel or some toy sawmill or dyno but you say it might get warm to fast can you run an external boiler tank with the rad so it does run cooler --just wondering .

  • @gbritnell Fan Shroud will help alot more then you think, and more air flow si probably need as well.. Even though the engine 1/3 scale the heat generated is full scale...

  • Awesome -- What he said!

  • Awsome

  • Impressionnant, why not a Cleveland 351 ?

  • Amazing work! It would be probably a stupid or a redneck idea to supercharge it, but why don't you try?

  • @agnostos1000

It's not a stupid idea it's just that I wanted a stock looking engine. One of the hardest parts on the engine was the intake manifold so I would have to make another complete manifold plus the supercharger if I were to go that way. Right now it starts and runs great so I really wouldn't want to take the chance of turning it into a bunch of parts.

  • @gbritnell amazing engine! but why wouldnt you be able to just put on a smaller already made turbocharger? but i say again, amaing engine!

  • Are you using a Socket as an exhaust tip?

  • @Khabibulin3935

The exhaust manifolds are made from heavy wall stainless tubing that has been machined square where the outlet pipes meet up. The tip was just turned a little thinner. The whole thing was mounted on a fixture and then TIG welded together. It warped a little and needed a cleanup cut milled across the port flanges.

  • this engine is awesome i want it. good work looks really nice

  • be real cool if someone built a 1/3 scale mustang to put it in...full detailed...

  • So in other words its cubic displacement is 302/27, or 11.185 CID.

  • it needs a 750dp on it lol

  • Whats the hp and torque ?

  • @oliazadehali

The hp. is about 5 calculated from displacement and rpm but I have no idea of the torque.

  • @merkal90000 , id use it too!

  • sounds just like my mustang lol

  • is this a Fkn Real Mini V8 GAs, Oil Coolant, and everything Ran Carb V8?

    SICK!

  • are you planning to sell them ? id be interested in it.

  • @NowlinLawnServices

No, it's a one off. Too much hand work. Don't have CNC equipment

  • What do the rockers look like .....do you have pics of the crank and cam pistons rods and others

  • That is such a cool project, sounds really wicked. It'd probably be cheaper and less time consuming to build a real 302, but hell I can't argue that thing is awesome, I want one now.

  • Fantastic work.

Maybe some rubber feet for that frame can keep it still?

How long did it take to build ?

  • @Mudgrove

It took 2500 hours, around 3 years.

  • @gbritnell Wow Now that's commitment. I spent 9 years on and off doing my rail, so I know what " a lot of shed time" means. Thanks for posting.

  • That engine is a tribute to your engineering and machining skills. What a beautiful engine, even if it is a FORD. Just kidding I have one in my 86 5.0 GT Convert. You should be proud, that is something you do not see very often unless some big budget company with 200 employees working on it for a year or two. That is so very special! My hats off to you!

  • I like your engine very much :) Is it imposable to make a real scaled calibrators that small? I don't have a clue about the logistics of miniature engines but its fascinating.

  • somebody is a machinst... nice work

  • Amazing workmanship! Very cool project you did there sir, thanks for sharing.

  • that would be a great engine for a midget

  • Wow! I'm impressed. You, sir, are a true artist in metal.

  • can you buy a kit for this? to build it

  • @daisyzzrecks

No, it's all scratch built from bar stock. No castings

  • Is that oil filter functional?

  • @jet62095

Yes it is. It has a complete pressure oil system that flow through the filter. The filter has a fine stainless steel mesh inside of it.

  • that is so cool I drive an old 1965 ford truck with this motors sister the 390 and I love them!

  • Are you a machinist?
