@EStTramp Things people say when they KNOW what they like. I like Bruce a lot, but I grew up on Kiss: Kiss Army Soldier till I die. Can't I like both or what?
the aformentioned "phantom sax noise" was in fact, Bruce shouting "bridge," directing the band which way to go. That was it, no sax noise, or conspiracy theory. Let this be the end of it. Because I said it, it is so.
Could have been keyboards with a sax effect or it could be a backing track. It is not Bruce saying Band ... not a vocalization in any way. It's a sax noise.
I hear what you're talking about, but if you listen you can tell that's one of Bruce's random vocalizations that he often throws out like "yeah", "that's right", "big man", "stevie", or some unintelligible sound....
That's actually Bruce calling for the band to go to the "bridge" of the song. Gotta call out the parts sometimes when you don't touch a song in 30 years. Nice job, Boss!
I was at that St. Louis show. It was my first ever Springsteen concert, and the ppl that I was with say that it was one of the best setlists on that tour. I sure wish that Bruce would have recorded his version of Then She Kissed Me, because no one can do it as good as The Boss!!!
What a set list from the St. Louis show, he should of continued that on the Working On A Dream Tour! Can't complain, got Proud Mary at L.A. Sports Arena on Night #2!! Take a break Bruce later this year and come back strong in 2010.....
The general consensus amongst fans was that St. Louis was the best show of the entire Magic tour, and judging by the high quality boot I have it (and I have over 20 excellent boots from every leg of the tour except for Europe 2007 and including all three Giant Stadium shows and two of the shows for Danny), I cannot disagree with that assertion. The energy, consistency and intensity they played with that night was incredible, plus the setlist was awesome.
I caught him a couple of times including Giants #2 - any fan that saw a show would swear that show to be the best. Giants #2 didn't let me sit down- maybe for "Livin' in the Future," but the setlist was great there too. They were great every time, and I honestly didn't even consider St. Louis to be the best of the tour myself because he played so many shows, each of them special and superb; judging just by reviews, I couldn't discriminate. I was at this concert! It was the greatest experience of my life!!!! Bruce and the band were amazing! three days after this show I came back home... the next day I joined a band and we've been gigging ever since... and granted seeing Clapton made me buy a guitar but seeing Springsteen made me want to be a showman...
I can't imagine being in this audience and hearing the opening notes of this. It's my favorite boot song of all time. Thank you so much for posting this. Every time I'm in a bad mood, I call it up and play it.
I was there and it was an absolute thrill to hear him open with this...One of those "you had to be there" shows!!!...it was my wife's first Bruce show and she had a fantastic time....

A great start to a great concert - even though they were late. I heard that the Big Man was having back problems before the show. Bruce probably reached back with songs like this and "Mountain of Love" to make up for it.
one of the songs on here has bruce talking to sophie, check out all st louis springsteen videos on here. best show i have ever seen. who is sophie anyway?
One helluva show...a first time for my kids....but life changing for my daughter who was chosen to dance with Bruce last night in St. Louis. Any chance anyone has some video to share from last nights "Dancing"?
your daughter did herself proud. i have been a bruce fan for 35 years and i think that i would have fainted if bruce pulled me up on stage when i was 12 or 13 years old. she danced like she owned the place. nice job and a kiss from bruce on top of it.
Show started 90 minutes late, got tired of being in my seat before the show even began, when the show started it was so great that I forgot about it starting late, incredible show. I won't soon forget it.
apparently jnjmitch hasn't seen a real crowd at a bruce show. before the show started the crowd was dead and of u watch this video you can see the lack of enthusiasm. typical st louis crowd, ever been to a Rams game? concert was fantastic as i said earlier but i was ashamed by the empty seats and people in my section standing like zombies.
u should have been to the shows in gothenburg, sweden the audience was great, everybody stood up right from the begining (might have something to do with that they opened with born in the usa)
Don't know what you're talking about, tybruce- the crowd was into the show from the minute he walked out until he played the last note. I've never seen an audience or a concert like it. Absolutely amazing show.
