Simms is too much of a decent guy to be a worthwhile coach, IMHuO.
I certainly hope he never goes there.
On a separate note I look forward to getting a No.11 jersey one day. Had the chance to pick up a Throwback back in 08 (I think), decent price too ($40), but missed out.
Two years plus on, and I still kick myself when I think about it. :(
Not only has Simms gotten to the Super Bowl himself, but he also has the perspective of being a contemporary analyst. So I think Simms would make a GREAT candidate for a coach. Not only that, I think he'd be able to relate well with the players having gone through the 'brutality' of Bill Parcell's system. Decency would earn greater respect from his players. To win a Super Bowl, you're going to need players who want to play for you-I don't see how Simms doesn't fit that criteria.
Today's coach needs to be a ruthless b - Simms doesn't project anything like those characteristics. Anyhoo, Giants at Lambeau in just under 3 hours time - GO GIANTS!!
I think Phil Simms would make a good NFL coach too. He could go into the HOF as a player and announcer and even head coach if he decides to become one.
Phil Simms has better stats than some already in the HOF including Namath. He played in a tough stadium to throw in, on a run first team, with no elite wide receivers. All this B.S. about well he won only 1 S.B. let me tell you this Jim Kelly lost 4 of them and he's in and that's on a pass first team w/ WRs like Reed and Lofton. Not to mention he is 20th in passing yards and had the best performance by a QB in any Super Bowl. The year he was having in '90, if Hostetler won it so would've Simms.
In his 14 seasons with the Giants, Simms completed 2,576 out of 4,647 passes for 33,462yards and 199 touchdowns. His career passing yardage total ranks him twentieth in NFL history. Best completion % ever in the SB. I think he should go in.
Alright maybe that was a reach but his career does match up with Aikman(minus the rings. Do you think Terrell Davis should get in? Just curious. Hos won the other ring but the 1 SB he did play in was magical. Stats are tricky because looking at the #'s I would say Ricky Watters, Jerome Bettis, Curtis Martin all are deserving but we will see. What do you think?
He should go in twice. Once as a player and once as a broadcaster. If Canton took authors he would go in for that too. His "Phil Simms on Passing" is a classic.

you know, if Phil remains the elite color announcer that he is, he might get in as a combination athlete-announcer!

Simms is always a class act. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.

Class act but HOF? Please. Why not Hostetler and Doug Williams too? Get a clue.
