  • Hey Syd - Sent from MyU2B

  • "They always get the intellectuals first, the teachers" That was an interesting statement. The round-up of intellectuals has been done by communist/socialist/totalitarian regimes - never by the democratic or republic government, which you mistakenly allude to.

Funny you should equate intellectuals with teachers. They are not one in the same. I can only assume you arrogantly see yourself as an intellectual because you teach.

I think I'll check out your channel

  • @PipeDownification As arrogant as you trying to pass yourself off as a college professor. It's pretty pathetic that you try to denigrate Vassar's Women's Studies by having people believe you're part of or have anything to do with it.

  • @proudyke << a non-pompous bloviator

  • @proudyke

Your lack of critical thinking is sadly predictable.

  • Many of the writers who do the text books are taking things out more and more every few years.

  • @sarahkellett Yeah, there's only so much room for stuff, but textbooks are becoming less and less relevant so it's not so much as of an issue as it's been in the past.

    And- oh, HEY SARAH!!!

  • I like watching Glenn Beck on Fox News

  • @sarahkellett ...yeah it's fun, especially when you can get some dart gun practice in there. ;o)

  • I took my mom to Braum's only because the restaurant we usually eat at was too crowded. The ice cream machine at Braum's is so loud and my 82 year old mom's voice is so low that conversation is a challenge. I thought about a movie, maybe Avatar, but I couldn't imagine explaining who the green people are to mom. But hey, Braum's worked and Ghirardelli chocolate.

  • @dancagle Mother's Day and chocolate...that's all ya need, really...and big hugs.

  • High school nicknames rock...I still use mine and you know what that is...heheh The textbooks really suck...even in the music departments...I'm constantly correcting things or scratching out things that really do not promote good learning. It's hard to bite your tongue when it comes to the folks' friends...argh!!! You did better than I probably would have...hehhe

  • @PaintedRavensong Hey Mic.

Oh, man- hey the textbook thing is not going to be so much a problem now that educators are getting hip to the incredible resources made available to them online.

  • What are you? A hippie Socialist??!! hahah

How did you bite your tongue? I'm impressed... Love, Your communist friend, Gina

  • @ItalianStallionette Hell ya, dude- a hippie socialist with hidden agendas, for sure. It's a scary thing to some that I'm actually teaching kids to question everything and search the answers for themselves, eh? Don't tell anyone... ;o)

  • She did not say Fox News Is Where the News happens!! hahaha

  • @ItalianStallionette She did!! She DID!!! Bwuahahahahaha!!!!

  • I like that you can be an Italian New Yorker. Talk to meeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @ItalianStallionette New Yawkuhs rawk!!!!!

  • When the generation before ours was young it used to be that the news was more responsible for telling things as they were... Slowly the news became less in touch with reality. If you had grown up watching realistic news reporting, you had learned to trust it. Where would you learn to think for yourself if you have always been spoonfed by the news?

  • @fehquig I'm gonna date myself but, hey, I was a big fan of Harry Reasoner and Walter Concrite. Remember when they had a few minutes of each news program called "commentary"...? It's sad how it's now nothing BUT commentary disguised as news.

  • My Aunt Terry was an Italian New Yorker, married into our backwater Michigan family. What a hoot. Good story.

  • @MikeOfKorea Hehe, I'll bet he's the liveliest of the bunch!

  • So give us the Rascally Response! I wanna hear what you WANTED to say - I mean, I get the gist but, woman, we can take it! Have a great day.

  • @Elaina43 I know you can!! lol

I'm actually transitioning into making videos in a professional capacity- trying to get a sense of who the audience is when it comes to my colleagues on a global scale. It's been interesting!

  • fox is where news is manufactured.....lol

  • @rednecktrucker1969 Indeedy ;o)

  • It's always hard at stuff like that - I always feel that if I keep my mouth shut the person spouting their rubbish will take it as agreement. Fox news indeed. Poor foolish woman. good for you - I hope your tongue heals from you biting it!!!

  • When I drive through Albuquerque later this year, I'll wave to you.((Syd))

  • @proudyke Huh!??? You better do more than that!! Let me know when you're driving through and I'll throw myself in front of your car ;o)

  • @SydTheSkeptic Just what I need, splatters on my vehicle LOL

  • Nice of to be the bigger person. Anyone who believes all of what they hear, especially from the Fox needs a little kindness. Good to see you.-----GW

  • @Ghostwriter6967 That's kind of what I was thinking at first, but she really did think I was the one who needed schooling about the big scary world of subversive education...oy.

  • I cannot understand a word you are saying.

  • @RiverBirch1967 The chippy voice is evil, I know. I can't help it. It's like a drug- I keep saying I'm gonna stop but I just can't.

I just wish I knew how to quit the chippy.

  • @SydTheSkeptic You're crazy. I love it!

  • the blind side. That is the movie I bet. Lol. And my mothers day sucked too. haha. Can we reschedule?

  • @combustication07 Yes! On your birthday, take her out and thank her for giving you life.

I know that sounds corny but that's been a tradition with us and she really has come to appreciate it. She tells me about the story of my birth and how I was as a little baby.

  • Sounds like you watched the blind side

Glad you got to spend the rime with your mom

  • @sunsetlover Hey Ang. :o)

  • Oh my~ they do leave out history to be sure! (textbooks)

Way to take the high road. Great to see you as always~

  • @HeidiSaid Hey Heidi!

  • You , That Chipmunk voice, and Cookies ;P

  • @GrifterSixOne LOL- I know...I can't quit the chippy.

  • When I first saw Fox News (some years ago now) I thought it was a spoof! LOL

    BURN THE BOOKS!!! LOL

It's like Fahrenheit 451 is coming true...

  • @CoZzMiX It IS a spoof!!

    Right...?

  • I liked your description of Fox News as a Fear Box. I've seen them talk about textbooks before. They put forth lots of bogus general allegations about the textbooks but I've never seen them point to a single specific thing as actually being wrong or not factual.

  • @3CoolKats Teachers are the big enemy when it comes to Fox, because we teach something that is a big threat to them...always check your sources..be critical in your viewing habits and know the difference between opinion and fact.

Reason and logic...BIG enemies of Faux News, indeed.

  • Sounds like your mom's friend is ripe for a book-burning!

Have a better day today, Syd!

  • @gabrielized Thanks Sue!
