Why doesn't he just let go? Why does he put such an effort in when he just goes to an (Lord of the rings reality) afterlife? He hasn't eaten or drank properly in days along with being extremely tired, overwhelmed the ring, and lost a finger.

@zeromodz because he doesn't realize that he cannot return to his old life the way it used to be until far after they got back to the Shire. He'd just dropped the ring for the first time in about a year, and was finally starting to remember why he was even on this journey. Four years later he decided to leave because the journey scarred him too much emotionally.

For the life of me, I can't seem to find the name of the soundtrack for THIS clip. I think it's extremely touching and beautiful as Frodo is hanging by the cliff and the music begins to play. Anyone know?

Elijah's eyes say it all. You can see that all Frodo's determination is gone, he's ready to give up and just let go. But, as always, Sam pulls him from the brink. Moving stuff.
