It would be really cool if you responded to the multiple questions about the error message we are receiving (signature...install aborted, etc.)

Also, for the recovery file change you should make sure the permissions of the new file match the one you're replacing. That would be helpful for people to know.

Great video but I wanted to post that this method will not work if you're running a GB ROM like the latest AT&T update. You'll need to use ODIN to flash a kernel with CWM already in it.

For those who use ES file manager, if you get stuck on the samsung logo screen when you reboot to recovery its coz you have not made the permissions of your new recovery file the same as the recovery.old.

Flash to Stock using Odin

Re-root

do this stuff again, but be sure to note down the permissions and manually apply them to the new recovery file.

omg u are helping sooooo much, so many ppl dont detail things for the noobs! But im having an issue. after i rename my recovery file (recovery.old) i try to paste the new recovery and it says a recovery file already exists, do u wish to overwrite it? i went ahead and said yes but there was an error and it didnt overwrite. so even tho it'll show a successfully name changed recovery file, once i try to paste the new one, the recovery.old file is now again just labeled recovery. do u know y?

@chewmymangum Well i read your post. Only thing i can think of is that you did not put the recovery file in the right spot.  Doing this will not let recovery work right

In case you're still having the issue, I had the exact same thing happen to an Infuse I was trying to install a custom ROM on. Apparently Google won't let me post links, but do a search for "How To Unbrick Samsung Infuse 4G And Fix Partition" and follow the link for the "addictivetips" website. The instructions there worked for me, but it returns your phone to stock so you will have to root it again after do this. Good luck.

You need to unbrick your phone. Google it. It's a combination of Odin3, original rom and pressing the bottom volume key at the boot screen.... it's very easy.

When i first went into the computer folders on my laptop i went into the internal storage not the sd and accidentally removed the recovery file that was in there. I assumed i had put it there from the downloaded one, was that an original needed to be there to be overwritten? perhaps this is why i am receiving this error? I put the new recovery in the system folder and followed your video perfectly i am still stuck. Phone boots fine and runs, I am rooted.

so i have already done this and installed miui. i tried to download rom manager to try out another rom and now clockwork mod doesn't work it just freezes on Samsung logo, but i can still boot normally. any suggestion. i really don't want to go back to stock and redo all this

@ochoa8394 Well i too also have Miui on my phone & you should not have to install CWM when you install Miui it installs CWM on its own you might need to start over! & dont use rom manager only if needed
