Also, I live near a well known medical center and when I go to the RV Resort near there I meet many people from Canada who are here for healthcare because the waiting time is too long and too late. Remove the illegals, the waste, fraud and abuse from Medicare and Medicaid, pass goord tort reform and promote competition between private companies but the gov't isn't good at running anything! Yes I think all AMERICANS should be covered but gov't involvement is NOT the solution.

The insurance companies are already competing Courtney. Our company negotiates a contract with different ones each year. If competition crossed state lines there'd be more competition. The post office's around here are being shut down. I know this because my post office is imcluded. Fedex and UPS are getting the business. Universities, tuition costs continue to increase limiting students. The gov't will offer cheaper medical so companies will stop providing healthcare to reduce costs.

All my postal offices are doing fine. I use them at least once a week, and prefer it to UPS and FedEx. Yes, the gov't needs to allow companies to compete across borders but not control the system which Democrats want and will happen. Ok maybe in texas but 94% of the country has one or two healthcare insurers running the state. The government will not control the system man. They offer an option. If you like your healthcare, then you keep it, if you don't like it, or cannot afford it, then you can take the governments plan.its pretty simple. And like you said private education always cost more then public, which gives poor people like me a chance. Without the government I would be over 100 grand in debt thanks to Emory.

If I was an employer who pays for healthcare for my employees and then the gov't offers an affordable plan for people, what's to stop me from canceling my plan which would of course save me money which would then force all my employees to buy their OWN insurance for this "low rate" that all can afford? Then what you have is everyone on the gov't plan, ergo I would NOT be keeping my current insurance at all. I don't know what an Emory is.

This is a good point you have. I myself have been caught in this same situation and through much discussion etc. we decided the pro choice route. As a responsible person I stayed with herthroughout the entire procedure as well as the funds necessary. This is what being a responsible person does.
