  • I think that it's not really extreme... For me, it's just a normal entrainement. May be that '' Extreme taekwondo '' is the name of the club. Anyway we love Taekwondo!!

  • Why some of people wear white suit, some of them blua an the others red? :O Pls tell me the reason or difference/-s...Thx

  • @kenjirott For show ... as far as I know. The dojo I go to only instructors wear red/blue, everyone else wears black. It's different everywhere.

  • @UniversalPotatoSoup I prefer the term "highly influenced" by Karate as one should note the subtle differences between the two. Originally, however, and without question, the training and drills were similar if ny identical to Karate. But, they are still two different styles, copied, highly influenced, or otherwise.

  • It is not Tie kwon do..It is TAE kwon do...Pronounced (Tay Kwon do)!!!!!!!

  • @MoenMooreSeamus

    THANK YOU!!! :)))

  • 5:45 - that poomsae was so poorly executed I nearly cried

  • that's great...

  • TKD can be a good martial art, depending on the user that feels a natural essence with it, but I don't believe that it is the so called, "Ultimate Martial art".

  • this is a disgrace dor people that practice real taekwondo, this isn't even taekwondo and all of them look like retards when they are doing "taekwondo'. please quit nerds and go back to school

  • ITS NOT TAEKWONDO IDIOTS. 1. IN TAEKWONDO WAERING WHITE DOBOKS SECOND ITS NOT ONLY FIGHTING. :P

  • @4:10. Instructor? You like you're 16.

  • 5:55 i'm a yellow belt and even i know a punch done like that is a sure recipe for a broken wrist.

  • Wait is this a parody?

  • breaking real wood is so much better then the plastic crap we have to use now. Thanks ITA for continuing to commercialize a traditional art!

  • this is wanna be itf,,, i know its noticed by itf but it can never be true

  • At 6.07 all of the kids prepare for sparring. Not one of them are holding a decent guard. All of the kids holding their rear guard at their Naval. Why are they defending their navals? One hand needs to be close to the chin. This is rampant in TKD it needs to be fixed.

  • Don't use Japanese photograph for TKD promotion! There was no enforced draft for Koreans at times. It was started by Korean plea in 1938. Other Korean soldiers were all volunteers. TKD was only the inferior copy of Karete. There is no science here. It is only the sports, not the martial arts. Don't misunderstand!

  • @NoNoSpice ur half right half wrong yes tkd is a sport but in ancient times it was a way to fight a battle style so u are right yes it got infekted by karate cuz when general hong hing was forced to go to the japanese arm he learnd karate

  • @blackbelt807 Taekwondo did not exist until 1955. Taekkyeon was the martial art you are referring to. Taekwondo is not a sport. It is a martial art. Olympic style Taekwondo is a sport. But Taekwondo itself is not a sport. It was not "infected" by Karate.

  • @Sevv9220 ok i was wong i just want to proteckt my buble cause i do taekwondo and i dont want myself to do just a sport

  • @NoNoSpice Take it from someone who has been studying martial arts for 15 years and is a History Major. There was a draft of Koreans during WW2. Taekwondo is not a "copy" of Karate.

  • @Sevv9220

Draft was not introduced for Koreans. We started it because Koreans submitted a petition in hope of draft system, which was as same as for Japanese. It started in 1943. The actual physical test for Koreans were done in 1944 for the first time. So the first drafted Korean ended war during the training. None of them went to battle field. Learn the history better! The Korean soldier in Japan was all volunteers, who joined to our army since 1938. By the way, TKD is the copy Karate

  • @NoNoSpice then y isnt TKD exactly or even anyhow similer to karate??

  • nice choong moo form

  • 0:49 South Korean flag for North Korean territory... greeeat~

  • ive done a little tkd and its awsome and definetly deserves its respect but i feel alot of is useless int the ring and there is alot of foot slap it dosnt work as well as muau thai and it promotes alot of bad habits like dropping ur hands but it is beutiful and artistic and i mean no disrespect because i know it takes alot of work to do it

  • @horacioabraham well, i think every sports have "unnecessary" things (muay thai btw).

also inside of a system you can choose the fighting stance and movements yourself (depending on what you prefer). as you said it needs a lot of work; but either way tae kwon do isnt the only one who needs it, all comes from practice in each system ;)

anyways; you are respectful and thats fine ;)

    have a nice day ^_^

  • ive done a little tkd and its awsome and definetly deserves its respect but i feel alot of is useless int the ring and there is alot of foot slap it dosnt work as well as muau thai and it promotes alot of bad habits like dropping ur hands

  • coool

  • why is White people talking like they know about tae kwon do so much..they are not even flexible enough and especially the White narrator can't even pronounce TKD right, WTF.

  • @collideguy heehee i get the joke...WTF...haha

  • On a side note I am taking a Okinawan gojuryu Shobukan class right now... Not sure how similar it is to the karate style u r referring to but none of the hand techniques or stances r like tkd

  • When the 3 kingdoms were at war one of the 3 lived in the mountains so they developed stronge legs thus they designed a style thats main attacks involved the legs. This is the kingdom who was victorious in their wars so their style spread throughout the land... I have done my research

  • All of you a Wrong, There is no such thing as Hwarangdo that is a fabrication, because during the unification of the three kingdoms Korean martial arts vanished except for Taekkyon. Modern TaeKwon-Do came from Shotokan Karate in which Gen Choi Hong Hi attained second dan under its founder Gichin Funakoshi, He also combined Taekkyon Kicking techniques, and a form of northern chinese kung fu. as far as calling it Korean Karate is totally wrong ITF is completely different to Karate.

  • Appleswitch - video is actually correct. Choi Hong Hi developed TKD as a Koreanized version of Karate. He was a Shotokan practitioner and used Taekyeon as an influence.

  • I am by no means a Korean historian but I am a practitioner of taekwondo. I have done college papers over it and gone to martial arts conventions and heard the origin of taekwondo. Both my research and what I learned from others says that the historical aspect of this video is hella wrong. Some guy did not just randomly use science to make taekwondo, it evolved from hwarangdo *sp*

  • @AppleSwitch101 HEY I SO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE KOREAN MARTIAL ART EVOLVING FROM HWARANGDO.... THEIR SCHOOL SEEMS TO BE A GREAT ONE, BUT THE HISTORY THE JR BLACK BELT GAVE WAS WRONG AND WHEN HE IS PERFORMING HIS FORM/PATTERN, HIS ROUND HOUSE IS WRONG AS WELL.

  • @AppleSwitch101 Hwarangdo is dead there is no such things all classes now days are just fabrications, all korean martial arts died out after the three kingdoms period, all except for Taekkyon, Taekwon-do is Taekkyon kicking techniques and take downs, northern Chinese fist and hand techniques and shotokan Karate stances, please do more reaserch.

  • Woot!! Freaking awesome!!

  • Mc Taekwondo in Mc country...

  • Choy Heong Hai the father of Tai Kwon Dow..come on..

  • @h0rangi your awful at spelling, and if you actually know anything about TaeKwon-Do at all you would know that he is the the father of modern TaeKwon-Do.

  • why does it show only north korea when he says the home of Tai Kwon Dow? it should show north and south together as one...

  • LOL @ 5:53 - 5:56

  • I know the directors of Foot Fist Way made their first stop watching this video!

  • lol, showing northkorea in the beginning with the flag of southkorea!^^ says all about the video...

  • @ghostzocker i realized that too, but it may well be like that because

    1. the flag of south korea is more known

    2. tae kwon do and the koreans who developed it are sort of from northern parts.

  • @ghostzocker ah ha, someone else noticed that, good good

  • Thank you that was very informative!

  • the country they show in the beginning is north korea.

  • A little informative yet alot of the other stuff was highly unecessary for the most part, i agree on the philosophies behind the martial art but i do not agree on calling it the ultimate martial art becuase no art can be the ultimate each system has it strengths and weaknesess and the effectivness on it depends on the practitioner and if the instructor is teaching in a good way but i do like the history.

  • i think that instructor forgot to apply self control to food

  • @jaquesgrobler2 this is still a stupid and boring video. Reminds me of the 80's when everybody wanted to be a ninja.

  • why do white people always steal other peoples culture?

this is a stupid boring video.

  • @punchy001 I cried laughing

  • I was reading a book on taekwondo, and it seemed like taekwondo was based on age-old defense system -- like, really ancient history kind of thing.

  • Why does North korea have South korea's Flag??...

  • korea's image is different with china, japan. don't use music that looks like china's kung fu feeling. korea is smart country in 3 asia (china, japan, korea.). anyway BGM is gay shit smelling. also korea is not original korea's marticial arts. it copied japan or china's marticial arts. we korean have "sip pal ki" or some other original korea maticial arts. it is strong than tea kwon do. TKD is just show.

real strong army's people don't learn TKD in korea.

  • King of the demo!

  • this video seems a turistic hotel tv spot

  • @ParkFight lol you got it right on the money :)

  • those are prebrakable boards. TKD does not condition thier hands like a KYOKUSHIN school does. TKD does not hit markiwai boards. Its all for show to get members for thier school. TKD is the worst comercial martial art thier is!!

  • @edlo123 nope

  • lol. THE ULTIMATE MARTIAL ART... hahaha. noone really cares for Tae Kwon Do, dude.

  • sorry but that school sucks.. their technique is terrible. the black belts looked awful.they he couldnt even do a spinning cresent kick ..wtf? and why are they wearing different colored gi's?

  • @whycantibefree believe its called a dobak

  • esta wea nunk fue taekwondo wn !!!

gringos qls desonra qla aprendara diferenciar artes marciales primero x la bestimenta !!!!

  • i startet with taekwon do when i was 12 but.. to say the truth, i´m now 21 and just startet with hapkido after more than a year without taekwon do and i don´t think that any age is too late :D

  • MISLEADING TITLE. This is simply average Tae Kwon Do.

  • hand skill is top-notch. Judoka do not practice unching, or kicking, and thus their grappling and throws are top notch. It is not because they don't know how to punch, or were never taught, it is because they participate in a skill-specific sparring category.

  • especially since the creation of taekwondo at the time it was simply korean karate, he was defiantly not involved in creating any techniques. Five main kwans unified to create the kukkiwon and succesfully spread taekwondo to 180 countries and 80 million people. General choi had nothing to do with that. He was in N. korea talking with kim il jung.

Kukki-taekwondo does not focus on face punching in sparring, the focus is on kicking. Much like boxing does not focus on kicking, and thus their....

  • wow lol you wrote alot xD ...im starting taekwondo on wednesday :) but im 15 and i think its a little late for me to start :(

  • @1000erey2

NEVER too late to join Tae Kwon Do! I started when i was 13, and i see 40+ (age wise) women and men join. Enjoy studying Tae Kwon Do my fellow brother

  • thanks dude :)

  • @1000erey2

    No problem!

  • im 17 and i just started... its never late

  • hey man we have ppl in are TKD school that are older like this lady is 72 years old and is running up walls and breaking boreds i will send u some videos so u can see but its never to late i am also 15...

  • General Choi fled for his life from south korea to north korea (the country you paired with the s. korean flag) after a failed assassination attempt on the S. korean president. He continued to spread ITF taekwondo to communist countries. Eventually it came to canada and america, however it is divided and dwindling.

He did not create taekwondo, He was in charge of teaching it to the army, and was merely at the meeting where the name was decided. The minutes to those meetings are online.

  • The world taekwondo federation (WTF) is the tournament organizing body which uses kukki-Taekwondo (aka world taekwondo, the national sport of S. korea, and over 90% of taekwondo in the world) and organizes tournaments for olympic and world championships.

The ITF is both a curriculum creator, and a tournament organizer unilke the WTF.

Under WTF rules punching is only allowed to the body. However, in kukki-Taekwondo there is extensive material on the training of hand techniques.

  • yeah nice powerfull techniks I like that!

  • from what i seen, it seems like ITF style.

  • geenius3ab International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) TKD uses hand techniques

(It is the main difference between World Taekwondo Federation {WTF} e.g at the Olympics)

And as for Extreme what a load of shit

  • I have been doing martial arts and have been interested in different martial arts for quite a long time. I have seen TKD olympic and sparring vids therefore i have been thinking it was an leg fighting arts.... Nice to see that it's an decent art, have always thought it was an leg boxing for a few months already.. :P

  • well its not only kicking people who say its worthless have never taken it i take therefore can give you an honest opinion in many dojos now they do teach wtf rules but also some good fight moves and ground fighting its really a good martail art

  • I'm a black belt in it. You have to either be unbelievably good at it, or just use the techniques as they suit the situation. After TKD I took a form of JKD, and I then began to see how easily countered TKD alone was.

  • wats JKD??

  • @1000erey2

    Jeet Kun Do.

  • what??

  • Wiki it, dude. This is the information age.

  • LOL ALL WRONG INFO. THAT'S A MAP OF NORTH KOREA, BUT SHOWED SOUTH KOREAN FLAG. Get some multicultural education, you sheltered white boy living in white hickville. Napolean Dynamite knows more than you. Probably don't even know the difference betwen South and North Korea. How much ignorant can a man get LOL

  • TKD is known as an leg style martial arts..Actually have never seen people use hands in TKD tournaments...So im suprised that TKD had any moves for hands aswell -.- ...Or might this be a video with some karate style mix of tae kwon do ? -.-

  • @geenius3ab TKD has punches, kicks, knees and elbows...but when you compete its only kicks...and well its kinda boring like that. But real Tae Kwon Do as seen in a selfdefence instead of a sport has everything.

  • for sparring i am a black belt and we use chest protectors and can beat the shit out of each other and get k.o and we have sparring every friday

  • why?! I supose U have seen WTF sparring? they only use their feets, no action they just stand and waith to the other to attack. BORING! if U want to see reel ITF sparring see this videoes: viking cup international 2008 part 1 and 2!

  • ITF?

  • They spelt... Discipline wrong...

  • It doesn't depend of the sport, it deepens of the guy using it!

  • I really don't understand how you guys really can say which are best of ITF and WTF. If you ask your tkd master and ask him: Which is best, itf or wtf?. If your master even say one of them he should be ashamed. If you are an really good and experienced tkd fighter you should know that it's both really good. The biggest differences is the rules. the kick is the same, the mental focus of the sport is the same: Respect, discipline and restraint.

  • You're using South Korea flag where there are no single ITF school , and is it a running session or Taekwondo why they do all this running during sparring !!!!!

  • I prefer WTF, but being biased on which Style of TKD is destructive and unneeded, as a giant family of Taekwondo we should remember our roots, not our favorites, Tae Kwon Do was created for a reason, lets build eachother up and promote ourselves not destroy eachother.

    Am I correct?

  • @spinkicker43 is it me or does this video seem like a bias commercial?

  • @spinkicker43 best points and comments around this issue....

  • @spinkicker43 >>> yes sir! you are right.

  • @spinkicker43 WTF is even worse, any art that doesn't spar with face punching is silly.

  • @SuperSneakySteve Any Idiot who think sparring will amount to practicality in the use of Taekwondo is silly.

  • @spinkicker43 Maybe you're right, if you want to learn how to fight you shouldn't be learning TKD at all. So go practice some more spinnie kicks kk?

  • @SuperSneakySteve And if you want to learn how to fight I would recomend you stop looking up videos for instructinals and get into the real thing...how about you go look up how not to be a jack ass on youtube.

Perhaps you can get your blackbelt in that?

  • @SuperSneakySteve I suppose I should be less agressive, so tell me of what martial arts you do?

I did many other's before TKD. Boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Ju Jitsu, Krav Maga, Aikido, Kendo, Kundo, Kung Fu, Karate, and Shotukan, but I found what I wanted in Taekwondo, a blend of striking, elbows, palms, knees, kicks, take downs, submission, disarms, and lethality. I suppose you just have to find the right Dojang, I was lucky enough too, and that is what I teach my students.

  • @spinkicker43 totally agree with you. i have been learning WTF for 16 years at the same time i learn ITF. they are different approach but the root are same to each other.

  • @spinkicker43 Let's just bring it back to hwarangdo, i wanna swing swords at ppl...

  • @spinkicker43 Yep!

  • the ITF is the original korean taekwon do--

the WTF is the american way ........ ITF rules

  • Do some research! LOL!

  • Lol in the free sparring they hit to the head. Is this ITF taekwondo?? WTF is way better..

  • not for fighting. demo only

  • it's not called tai kwan do you piece of white trash! it called tae kwon do in korean dumbass! get it right whiteboy!

  • DUDE your location of Korea! thats north Korea not south korea! the flag you guys posted is South Korea but showed geography of north korea! you guys need to fix that!

  • Yeah its allmost DBZ:p

  • Definatly one of the best martial arts ever.

  • those red belt sucks! i got blue/red and i own this guys hard xD but nice vid ^^

  • 1:37 is the famous Golden Palace in Japan.

what kind of documentary is this?

  • Las formas no son efectuadas como las creo el GeN, Choi.

    ITF MEXICO

  • Hi all while i compleatly respect all forms of martial art i must ay the technical abilitys shown in this short vid DO NOT mirror a ITF taekwon-do student. to be itf there needs to be SIGN WAVE motion before every more. i study in the ukta under grandmaster Rhee ki ha grandmaster Choi's number one student. there seems to be a big diffrence here! I would be intrestead

  • the only difference there really is in the both (cuz ive done both) are the patterns, tournament sparing and the round house or "turning kick" where you kick with the top of the foot instead of the balls of the feet thats about it really

  • 8:00 FAIL!

  • ITF is Traditional Taekwondo.

WTF is a modern taekwondo which is a sport in OLYMPIC

  • hellow im prince im blue belt i want to learn about option kicks tat good kep the good work heheheheheh deat befor dishonr

  • if you want to learn taekwondo kicks you ask your sabum

  • This is ITF. Actually TKD is spring from south korea, not from north korea. Choi Hong Hi was expelled from south korea because he helped north korea to learn TKD. ITF is north korean way of TKD

  • Actually ITF competes in sparring while WTF is mainly forms those are the main diffrences now and that some ITF is close to traditional ITF that was created for the battlefield and self defense

  • ITF self defense, battlefield and full contact rules under light contact sparring

WTF sport, WTF rules (kicks above the hips and only straight punches to the chest)

  • actually i take wtf taekwondo and there is more than the sport. u probably just watch the shit in the olympcis

  • *cough*...sucker...*cough* where you train then :D ? god must be a shitty please then if thats what your master is training you in. in proper TKD learn self defence techniqes, and how to reach on real life situations, you learn how to punch and use your whole buddy to take down your oppenant if he attacks.

  • Actually WTF is Tournements, wich comprise of spparring and self made forms.winning medals

    and trophies.

    and

Gradings wich comprise of step sparring, power tests, board breaking at a higher level, multiple sparring partners as you higher through the belts.

  • Dont know what corner of the world you train in, you even know what you talk about o.O? YOU choose(or how the hell you wanner spell it :D) if you wanner go tournaments and fight other people, but basic WTF is that you train you defend your self in the street and in real life, a proper way to get black belt takes minimum 6 years.

  • Es ITF o WTF ???

  • Not saying that this is bad or anything, but most of the kids are inspired by what they say in Anime or TV with all the Flying Slo Mo type stuff.

So normally they stay for what? 3 Months and go "Nah.. I'm starting Parkour" or something like that.

Good job too all you people who just took Tkd or Karate up for Free Will.

  • well yea, but if u kno who the K-tigers r, then u've gotta admit, those guys r pretty crazy.

  • this is ITF... WTF is where its at

  • People like you is the reason there is still racism today. White people can do the same as people from a different race and vice versa. That is like saying a black man cant be president because hes black.

  • its true, white kids should just quit going to their taekwondo lessons. go Korea!

  • Korea looks like Japan ^^

  • karate ftw :p karate kumite ; - )

  • naw wusho and krav maga ftw ^^

  • Tae kwon do is good for one thing, flexibility. As far as self defense is concerned, it fails miserably.

  • Are u a frog in the well? who say's tkd has no self defense? it's juz tat u are looking more the point where u are watching a taekwondo sparring compeition where they only use kicks to score points.. They have basic guards and blocks.. and also unarm combat techniques.. u wuss

  • wtf they use this in the military and korea is quite a powerfull country, are u saying they train their men to fail in combat? think about it dumbass

  • Whose military is the strongest in the world? Hint: it's not the Korean military. The most effective military units in the world train in Wing Chun/ Kali/ Silat/ and Jeet Kune Do. Your use of profanity shows that you are a child, an ignorant one at that. Hopefully you will not have to learn how ineffective TKD is by getting into a fight with someone who has trained in any of the above mentioned arts.

  • so your saying that every other martial artist will beat a tkd person? its not about the style its about the fighters u dumbass, and if the koreans know their method isnt as good as others im sure they would have changed it, unless they wants their military to be beaten the crap out of, its commno sense, all martial arts are equal, al have ups and downs, the only advantage is how they fighter uses them

  • All martial arts are equal? Ha! Lmao! That's like saying that all cars are equal or that Lance Armstrong could win the Tour De France riding a tri-cycle. You really have no clue as to what is happening in the combat world so, I'm done here. Those with the eyes to see your foolishness will see it. Again, I hope you don't find out the hard way...

  • all martial arts have advanatges in their styles, tkd has feet, karate has punches, judo uses throws and takeodowns etc. its how the fighter uses them that matters. every style has the ability to kill in several ways, if used correctly the styles are evenly matched. think about it, if a martial art was superior to others then the others wouldnt exist cos they'd be useless.

  • TKD is not ineffective. Isn't the martial art but the martial artist

  • is this a korean TKD?

  • Sorry if im wrong but aren't all Modern TKD used for a type of sport instead of real practice...however TKD in my opinion is one of the many great skill asset to have

  • Simple motor movements are basically punching and kicking. But there are martial art standards that help promotes simple motor movement. Like Filipino, which develops the brain's ability to predict the offender's actions, and use the surrounding enviroment.

  • Realize though, that most TKD moves are not really for combat. TKD, I believe represents balance and flexibility, and increases hand/eye coordination. TKD is merely a choregraphy, not that really recommended for most people, even black belts, to use in actual combat, as most of the TKD's move require the brain's 'complex motor movements' abilities. In an actual fight, your brain will register two possibilites: Fight or Flight. If fighting, then your brain will do simple motor movement.

  • There is not ultimate martial art, it all depends on a person's willingness to learn and the heart they put into their training, it is not the art but the individual

  • of course, the only thing that is important is the individual, is you. but how are you supposed to develop any real skill if you accept circumstances and masters like that?

no matter if it is traditional, and i emphasize that word, taekwon-do, kyokushinkaikan or muay thai, there aren`t any differences in hardness and conditioning in between these styles.

training the way this video shows it is just plain dangerous, because it gives the poor kids a wrong sense of security.

  • showing a south korean flag and showing ITF style taekwondo (the taekwondo of communist countries) lets us know its not the real deal.

    thank you.

  • what is the extreme on extreme TKD? that the technics in forms looks extreme slow...?

  • if this is how taekwon-do looks like in the united states, that really is downright embarassing.

and a test for a new rank every three months? are you kidding me? or are they really training three hours a day, six times a week?

and that little poser there is really annoying.

  • i take taekwondo and i am a purple belt, which is the 5th colored belt, and we have a belt test every 2 months, and we have 2 classes a week for an hour. you can also sign up for the black belt club, which is about 45 mins long, but it is extremely tough and is made to train more for the black belt test. black belt club classes are once a week. taekwondo is much more advanced than karate, and takes much more dedication and will power to get a black belt than karate.

  • I honestly think that not enough..Where I go, we train all the week, one hour each class and two of them are for training our body, just exercise to make us better in the techniques, such as jumping, acrobatics, running, jogging in sand for about 20 minutes to make us last longer in battle, weights, push ups, and things like that. We do test every three months, but everyone has to be a advance belt first to get the next color. And I don't think we have that much of training. I'm from Mexico.

  • mines the same way i gow to robinsons tkd and i signed up for the black belt club after a belt test.

  • this is shit...americans make this art look sucks!...watch the koreans version pf taekwondo history and u'll be amazed by the way thy train
