Come on folks. It's likely just a meteorite. If it was part of the satellite debris, it would be streaking across the sky, burning up very high up and not dropping at such a fast angle. It looks more like an object that was headed directly for earth, not orbiting around it. NASA can only track incoming objects to a certain size and brightness. It might have been a Dark Comet, which is basically just a comet that has given off all its ice and just emits an non reflective organic compound. dark

Small Satellite debris will not move that fast after it enters the earths atmosphere. Take a small toy and throw it through the air, the debris formation itself will slow down the speed of the object much like a poorly aerodynamic car driving down the road against the wind. No way a piece of metal is going to move at 15,000 MPH

It doesn't APPEAR to be but what everyone is forgetting is that meteors are never perfect spheres and can be the shape of any rock you might find. If it was elongated and flat, it would have been spinning, thus created the illusion of a changing path when actually, you just see one of the long ends burning.

Also, although NASA claims this is not true, it could be debri from one of the crashed satelites from last week.
