I'm resistant to change because I'm sorry but I never found anything better than my love for Mother Mary and Jesus. However I do have great respect for Buddhism and I also listen to your speech which is inspiring.
@6982able I agree that the key thing is to be specific & criticise the individual action / idea, not the whole person with a generalized, exaggerated name calling. Comment on the specific point in terms of your emotions / feelings about it. It is a matter of low resolution / higher resolution comment. Not " I hate you " rather " I hate what you did , that you did that ", Not "you fool " rather " I think that point you made was false." See Robert M Price,' The reason driven life'
I'm at 14 minutes right now, and I don't really understand...he's said before that "this is good enough" is a proper way to look at things. We don't need a bigger house or a fancier car, that sort of thing. But now he's saying that "this is good enough" is being resistant to change. When do we go for something better and when do we accept things for what they are?
Ive been listening to these talks and trying to learn how to meditate for almost a year now and a lot has change since then, thank you very much BSWA, Ajahn Brahm... I wish the teaching of the Buddha can also come here in the Philippines... (^_^)
qwertyu123123 - he would probably tell you it's how one reacts and handles racism that is important. furthermore, racism isn't the only social issue today that creates hatred and violence.
I was too busy to attend any of his Dhamma talk when Ajarn Brahm came to Malaysia recently. Anyway I am glad that many of his Dhamma talks was recorded in this site. Thanks to the youtude for this great service!
And I'm gaining much knowledge and understanding of a real sense through these videos. I only wish I could go to see him every friday night, but I'm on the wrong side of the world. :)
Thank u so much. Another interesting topic. I hv viewed 5 videos frm this speaker since yesterdy and hv learned tremendously on how to apply buddhism into my daily life. Hv studied buddhism n its books. On applying it, this is the best yet. Keep the videos coming.
We live in an egocentric society, and sometimes you can confuse the term 'pious' with egocentric, that's when it turns into a nasty word. If one has done any true self examination they should come to realize that there's a reason for everything including why people are the way they are, so we practice the 'tough love' principal, but is there really such a thing because in the long run it's just another form of ill will. the only 'punishing god' I know always walks on 2 legs
Let me add my 2 cents to this discussion. Buddhism is all about freedom. Although i am a buddhist i did not visit a temple for a long time. But, it does not make me a non buddhist. in Buddha's word you should decide for yourself. No matter what other people think about it. Buddhism respects personal freedom and the truth
Than u 4 doing the real purpouse of buddhism. teaching valuble detail of our day to day life and the real meaning of spirituality. Many monks still preach to belive. even tho they think buddhism is reasonable and intelligent religion. They drive intelligent kids away by doing that.
Yes they'll get poeple who like to belive something and worship but they drive away intelligent ones who really need buddhism. these belivers will benifit as the same as if they were born again cristians or muslims. Leave buddhism for thinkers and truth seackers. thank you 4 this. I like to leave my hunble
opinion. "Budddhism may be the best philosopy yet but human mind has the ability to find better. buddhism is a step toward the real salvation. but salvation is a thing what u find out. There 4 don't stop the search even after u become a buddhist.
Good thoughts on this video thanks. For more top thinkers see Victor J Stenger, Valerie Tarico, Wisdomcommons, Dan Barker, Tentmaker777, Bart Ehrman

in my opinion, i think wat he meant by change is our way of thinking.. our inner self..
material things, they come n go..

I would be grateful if Ajahn Brahm discusses the topic of 'racism in society'. This topic will help the public from perjudice, conflict and war.
