EVERYBODY!!!! Matt essentially writes the basic song! A basic bass line and some basic beats and Chris and dom major-ally improve on that to make it sound better- it's not all matt!! But most credit should go to matt though!
@HLGGanoth hey dude, have you ever spoken to Matt Bellamy huh? You know if you look at the comments, reading through them, guess who looks like the biggest idiot? You. So take your crappy facts and figures and shove them up your arse, because you have no absolute proof, of spoken word o the question "Do you write all the songs an music, ALL OF IT?" then come and start a fight where you're not wanted.
@histeria82 It says all their songs are written by him, meaning lyrics, and he would have come up with the main theme of the song, but it doesn't mean that he played all the instruments too. E.g., all the Led Zep records say "produced by jimmy page", but that doesn't mean he wrote and played the drums ti all their songs.
@HLGGanoth There really are trolls everywhere. You really don't have to be an asshole about it. Ah, oh well, you live to troll so who am I to stop you?
The first sort of like "fill" that dom does on the drums when you get to see chris. Like. Right in the beginning. He does it, almost the same way, like... three more times or so. Ever since I saw this vid like... half a year ago, I've been doing that exact same thing very very often when I just jam along and so on. He's been such an inspiration to me, and I didn't even know.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Chris doesn't write the basslines, it's Matt. He legally owns all writing credit for all the songs on every Muse song ever written. Matt is the one who even writes the drum beats and patterns. Matt even mentioned he wrote the "Helsinki Jam" in an interview a month or two ago as well. Rumor has it, the only basslines Chris ever wrote that WE HAVE HEARD are the Osaka Jam and Starlight, but that's unverified.
@HLGGanoth He doesn't write drum patterns, he blatantly stated he can't play drums for the life of him. He probably works with Dom to see what sounds best, but that's that. And yes he may write a lot of the basslines for Muse, but we don't know for certain what goes on. Chris is an amazing bassist either way, I'm sure he's had his fair bit of input in song production.
@HLGGanoth dude i hope you recognise the idiocracy that you are, you are fighting against many people, you are the only one person on here who says that matt bellamy wrote it all have you not realised that no one gives a fuck about your opinion? the best thing for you to do is stop wasting peoples time and stop commenting you mnight make quite a few people on earth happy
2. The only reason different people are arguing with me is because they all are the type of "fans" who listen to the music and watch a few interviews, that's it. They don't buy the albums, they don't look into the band, they don't attend the gigs, etc. Basically, they don't know shit about them and assume they're right.
The facts are right there in black and white, look anywhere! Muse albums, wikipedia, mp3 properties, etc.
3. When you're trying to argue with someone, can you AT LEAST be original? Why the hell did you copy what I had said..."I hope you recognize the idiocracy...".
It's just that everyone here is just some 14 year old fanboy or fangirl who think they know all about Muse just because they watched a couple interviews and live videos. I bet I know more about them than any of you probably so do me a favor and just shut up you're ignorant little selves.
The majority disagree with me because the majority don't know their facts correctly. I bet that EVERYONE who has replied to me so far has been a Muse fan for less than a year and has never attended a Muse gig.
It's like that book 1984, 2+2 DOES NOT = 5, but if everyone believed it was true, does that make it true? The answer is no, and this is the case for these comments.
If you're going to keep replying, AT LEAST study what you are arguing about first instead of rushing to reply!
@HLGGanoth i have been a muse fan for most of my life, they've been my favorite band for as long as i can remember, i've seen them loads of times, and i'm going to wemblry in september.
this is nothing like that because you are wrong and the masses are right.
get your head out of your own arse for a second and you'll see you're wrong
Just look at the properties of the mp3 files of any Muse song: "Composer: Matthew Bellamy". Even the album booklets! In the back they will say, "(List of songs)...written by Matthew Bellamy. Even wikipedia states under their albums, "All songs by Matthew Bellamy (Except where noted)"...and it never notes any! EVEN INTERVIEWS AND STUDIO FOOTAGE prove this!!!
If you don't look this up yourself, you will never know, so do this before you comment back and make yourself look like a fool.
@HLGGanoth I love how Wikipedia is one of your "credible" sources. Oh, and maybe you're right and everybody else is wrong like you say, but it's pretty obvious that you're not going to convince anybody here, so why don't you just shut up.
@HLGGanoth I love how Wikipedia is one of your "credible" sources. Oh, and maybe you're right and everybody else is wrong like you say, but it's pretty obvious that you're not going to convince anybody here, so why don't you just shut up.
@HLGGanoth *sigh* i looked it up, it means that he wrote the tune
as i said before, he has an influence in the bass and MAYBE the patterns of the drums, but it's chris and dom that end up playing what they want to. If you knew anything about music maybe even been in a band (your band members would probably hate though you because you think you know everything), then you would know that one person making all the decisions doesn't work and eventually everyone will quit...
@HLGGanoth Yeah, it says "composer", he put them together, and he would/may have assembled the songs in the studio, but that doesn't mean that he WROTE every piece of music of every song. He wouldn't have had much to do with the bass and drums side of things, that sort of stuff is up to each member of the band.
@HLGGanoth i happen to have every muse album including live ones and quite a few singles, i've listened to them since i was old enough to appreciate decent music so since OoS
when it say bellamy wrote it, it means the main tune, yes he probably had some influence over the bass and drums but in the end it's chris and dom's decisions. a band where one person decides everything doesn't work. if you've ever watched a muse interview you'd know that matt and dom argue over ideas and chris decides.
@WarrenNesteruk he stopped playing slap bass as frequently in 1991 on the blood sugar album and has only used it on a handful of songs since.he focuses more on melodic bass lines now, and has spent the better part of his time on hiatus from the band studying music theory.he is not grossly overrated, he is one the best bassists in recent times.
@Metalllians86 Uhm, really? Larry Graham? Without him there would be no Flea. Victor Wooten, Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller (to name just a few)? Learn your bass players dude. No doubt Chris is one of the most innovative bass players out there in terms of sound, but from a standpoint of pure skill he's got nothing on the above mentioned players.
That's what i'm thinking. It's probably in one of the songs. Like the Stockholm Syndrome riff was played just as a jam like this, and ended up being in Absolution.
journalist quick review, it was leaked during short interviews, french journalists listened quickly, and made overall description of each song. they assure there is no osaka jam in here. BUT: massive riffs are coming in Guiding Light and MK Ultra. but maybe osaka jam for a b-side? who knows. i really hope for it
k... fair enough... but it still could b on the album follow up to "the resistance" cuz theyre not gonna take a break after the tour and theyll start recordin right away...
osaka jam is not the actual name of the song... these is a title the fans gave to it since it was first played in japan... it still could be on the album...
and who told you? and how do you know? did someone journalist tell you... "the drum n bass riff named osaka jam by the fans is not incorporated into any song"?
When Muse came in paris for short interviews, journalist members of the forum were there, and had an iPod with the record in it. then have done a quick review of each song, and they assure there is no osaka jam. BUT: massive riffs are coming for Guiding light and MK Ultra!
is it actually? ive looked on muselive and stuff and theres nothing about it, only the fact that its been like an intro to plug in baby and other songs...
dude, you dont need drum tabs, you just listen to the music. trust me, i've played drums for 5 years and memorizing a piece is way easier and more rewarding that reading it off of a sheet
The descending part of the bass line has always reminded me of Rage Against the Machine's a bullet in your head. Does anyone else hear it? I find myself seeing similarities in songs all the time but am not sure if they really exist.
yeah i see what you mean. i know for a fact that muse are big fans of rage against the machine (hence the maggies farm riff at wembley) and it is a jam, maybe chris based this riff on the outro riff on bullet in your head?
Hell yes! I made the same comment months ago and nobody agreed with me! It is so Bullet in the Head. The part of the song at the end where it really starts to kick ass and Zach is screaming at the top of his lungs "A BULLET IN THE HEAD! A BULLET IN THE HEAD! A BULLET IN THE HEAD! YOU'VE GOT A BULLET IN YOUR FUCKING HEAD!"
tabs? :P

mikebellamyLOLOL 2 years ago
That's what i'm thinking. It's probably in one of the songs. Like the Stockholm Syndrome riff was played just as a jam like this, and ended up being in Absolution.

howd you know its not?

I know some inside things, My friends dad interviewed them, Lucky sob of a kid lol.

journalist quick review, it was leaked during short interviews, french journalists listened quickly, and made overall description of each song. they assure there is no osaka jam in here.

Illidan123456789 2 years ago
osaka jam is not the actual name of the song... these is a title the fans gave to it since it was first played in japan... it still could be on the album...
daurpm 2 years ago
People aren't liking the new album already? Jeeeze what critics lol.

Journalists listened to the album, OSAKA JAM IS NOT ON THE RESISTANCE ALBUM.
SweBass 2 years ago
Thing is, is that we don't know if they've incorporated it into a song.
WelcomeToTheJungle31 2 years ago
Link where this is stated please.
Legoman513 2 years ago
and who told you? and how do you know? did someone journalist tell you... "the drum n bass riff named osaka jam by the fans is not incorporated into any song"?
daurpm 2 years ago
in microcuts french part forum.
When Muse came in paris for short interviews, journalist members of the forum were there, and had an iPod with the record in it. then have done a quick review of each song, and they assure there is no osaka jam. BUT: massive riffs are coming for Guiding light and MK Ultra!

Thing is, if this is on the resistance, that means Dom won't be able to improv. the drum. D:
WelcomeToTheJungle31 2 years ago
Why not? They improv plenty of songs that are on albums. Just listen to "Apocalypse Please" from Wembley... sounds SO different, and SO awesome.

SpencerC 2 years ago
dude, you dont need drum tabs, you just listen to the music. trust me, i've played drums for 5 years and memorizing a piece is way easier and more rewarding that reading it off of a sheet

The descending part of the bass line has always reminded me of Rage Against the Machine's a bullet in your head. Does anyone else hear it? I find myself seeing similarities in songs all the time but am not sure if they really exist.
RocknRollmartian13 2 years ago 5
yeah i see what you mean. i know for a fact that muse are big fans of rage against the machine (hence the maggies farm riff at wembley) and it is a jam, maybe chris based this riff on the outro riff on bullet in your head?
louiscoop1192 2 years ago
YOU'VE GOT A BULLET IN YOUR FUCKING HEAD!"
softbatch1 2 years ago
i just listened to the 'bullet in your head song" and i can deff. see the simularities.
