I'm strongly considering picking up an LT3 because I've begun to become fascinated with pens (multi pens in particular) and the sharbo x zebra seems to be the quintessential multi pen. There are many options but honestly the LT3 seems perfect for me. I'm having a hard time finding specs on the pilot G2. I started flipping pens and I've gotten really used to the length and weight of a G2. Could you compare their diameter, length, weight, feel etc? Thanks! Also how do you like it after a year?
@onehundredand37 The externals are mostly all brass construction with the exception of the tip at the eraser end -- that is plastic and my ST3 has already cracked (ive carried it for al ong time though). The internal component that threads into the main barrel is plastic as well, and it houses the modular components. I doubt they are the same mass, if both are of equal density brass.. the LT3 has less volume. The black one just polishes up with wear, it doesnt look too bad.. hope that helps
I figured it out after watching your video (thanks!). I inserted just the pencil component, made sure it was rotated up, and screwed the barrel down. This seated the pencil section. The others were easy to add after that. Thanks again.
No. I cannot even get the thing screwed tight with all three slots taken up. The pencil seems to be sticking out way to far. I am assuming the green indicator cap on the pencil stays (each lead size has a different color cap).
@johnjayalvaro If you have your lead advanced too far (sticking out) it will impede the twisting. I normally click down and press the lead back in before switching. Try that and get back to me if it still sticks
How about the play from the barrel. Is there any side wiggle? Thanks for the video, nice quality. I am deciding between the sharbo x and a Lamy 2000 pencil. Tough choice.
@johnjayalvaro the barrel is super sturdy to me, i don't get any wiggle… i've never noticed any wiggle before either. the barrel is so sturdy i think this would work as an impact weapon/kubotan if it had to. lol
the first pen i bought for EDC was the lamy pico and the finish wore off super easily and the cartridge exploded in my pocket, dried up and cemented itself into the barrel.. big waste of $35. if you couldnt tell by the vid i like zebra products better, but i havent tried more lamys
@johnjayalvaro My ST3 has wear on the black clip and it's showing a metallic base under the black paint so it might be some kind of metal… not sure tho. they are very sturdy from my experience however
I ordered one before you updated with the picture of the flaking finish. That's unacceptable for a $45 multipen, I plan to complain to Jet Pens and Zebra if my finish begins to flake.
@10626476 LOL sorry, I didn't really expect that to happen either. I think it's because I carry it in my jeans pocket near a bunch of copper rivets, so when I move around the rivets scratch the pen up. If you deep pocket carry, carry in pockets away from metal or carry in a bag it should hold up fine.
@xxllljumpman23 i'm an engineering student so i'm constantly doing problem sets -- this pen is a godsend. haha. it's worth the $45 imo, but to be honest I got the black sharbo for christmas and I won the green one so I haven't really spent anything for them ^_^

Does the tip of the LT3 retract? If it doesn't, how annoying do you find it compared to the ST3 (which I noticed from the video does not have one)?

@kpham24 I'm not sure what you mean, but both of the pens can retract the tip into the body by twisting a half-turn between components.

how can the matte black pen be polished? both are metal right? the black one looks plastic. are they the same mass?

@johnjayalvaro hey i just uploaded another video, plz check it out

I am having trouble getting the pencil component to seat, so unless I leave it out, the twist jams. Am I missing something?
