    Title:

    BLUE PETER: GLEN NEVIS SPLASHDOWN!

    Description:

Children's magazine programme presented by John NOAKES, Peter PURVES & Lesley JUDD.

ITEM 03:SLADE: Slade perform Gypsy Roadhog & chat to Lesley.

  • THIS is what YouTube was created for! LOVIN' IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comedy version of one of their greatest songs. Usual insipid questions from presenters, no wonder Jim got sick of the pop business but as usual The Mighty Slade pulled it off. They just ruled the situation and no doubt retired to the pub.

Long live The Mighty Slade !!

  • I remember this. Fanx for the chance to see this again. Silverspoon references on Blue Peter eh? Heh Heh Heh I was too young to know. Bless ya my man. Any chance of DO THE DIRTY footage?

  • I remember seeing it as a kid, I thought it was brilliant! .... I still do!

  • OK sheesh buddy don't get so uptight!! All i was saying is that the song is very cool and i've never heard any version of it except live...so keep your shirt on!!!!

  • cool..i've never heard the studio version of this song..even though the video is kind of corny Slade is still #1 for me and slways will be

  • @nevetsffen

This is NOT a studio version of the track.

Reading the blurb accompanying the video will tell you that this was a specially recorded short for a English Kids TV programme...hence the changed lyric..and 'corny' 'video'....

The studio version is available to hear on the 1977 LP @Whatever Happened To Slade'

  • great!

Different lyrics as on the what ever happened to LP!

  • I never seen this thanks...kor

  • "I like bacon sandwiches too, actually!"

    This is triffic.

  • and if i may add... jimmy lea so so fuckin cool in that get up!! always was me favourite!

  • hehehe! that is the fuckin nutz! surely this entitles slade to have their own tv programme lol!¿!?! that would have been fuckin insane! nod always makes me smile!

  • this clip has got to be the best Slade clip ive seen!!!!

why wasnt THIS included on "The Very Best of Slade" DVD?!?!?!

im PRAYING for a definitive dvd to come out

  • i've never seen this clip before, but i love it, it just cracks me up...cheers.

  • hehe,,could Nod look any more uncomfortable with no guitar ?

    cheers Wolfie;-)

  • Didn't realise or remember that they didn't play the song all the way through, which is a shame as it has always been one of my favourites !

Also forgot about the interview after ! Nice one Dave !!

  • Thanx for sharing this piece of british history.

  • Brill as ever Thank you again DG I wondered if you would leave the Lesley Judd bit in

  • Nice to hear it and with the altered lyric too

  • Haven't seen this in 30 years Dave - FANTASTIC!

I seem to recall the BBC being flooded with phone calls

after this appearance by viewers outraged by the 'drug'

references in this song. But watching it again the lyrics

were obviously changed for children's TV, so I don't see

what all the fuss was about.

  • Some of it was changed but Nod still sings "down in the alley happy dust, me and Romona we was gettin bust" on this so that probably didn't go down well at 5pm

  • Fab. How the hell have you managed to get hold of this? Come on let us know the secret. This performance is just as I Remembered it. Although I did have a poor audio copy to remind me. Can't seem to find it now though. A big thanks for sharing this gem.

  • another newie to me,,,cheers Wolfman!

Its nice to see a we interview,

    albeit from that airhead bint;-)

    hehe

  • never seen or heard this copy before...well dun mate
