The sequence where the tiny Lilliputians are sewing Gulliver a new outfit while singing was later mirrored in the scene in Disney's "Cinderella" where the mice make her a ball gown from her stepsisters' discards while singing an upbeat version of "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes."
I had this on VHS as a kid and came here to see this clip SOLELY because I recall the little barber guy looking so much like Mario. I'm aware that Mario wasn't created back in the 1940s, but the resemblence is crazy.
Anyway, thanks for the video. Don't know how you managed such a clean upload of this super-old movie, but it's great.
It's a Hap-Hap-Happy Day is the song from Gulliver's Travels that is most known because it was used in many future Paramount cartoons as background music or sung by different people.
That's because he was rotoscoped. That's what the Flescher Studios did all the time. They film a live action character and trace the animation over it.
NAIL BUFFING!!! 02.41! bizarre how thats the thing my child mind remembered. Must have been at least ten years since i've seen this. I can sing along to the songs and mouth along most of the dialogue! Whoop!
Me to I used have this on VHS as a kid, man it must of been more than 10 years for me, about 7 or 8 when I stopped watchin it but man do i remember the songs and I used to always crap myself when he woke up haha

I like how the Lilliputians are familiar with swing dancing from the 1940's!

Have you seen that when Gulliver pulls Gabby out of his pocket and when he puts on his boots the animation is very different.

Different animators between shots. That's rotoscoping for you.

Really? Pinto does Gabby's voice? Now there's something I've learned today.
I think you spelled his name right on and yeah, he did the voice of Disney's Goofy back in the old days :D
