  • Thanks. Excellent instructions. I combined these with lubrication tips and got our T60 working using just the old fan. No fan error and no noise anymore.

  • wow this is amazing

  • Thank you. This video helped me to replace my broken fan.

  • Very useful for me. I was planning to replace my T60's fan.

  • Each time the screen "Fan error" occurs, I just click ESC, usually 02 times, when restarting or starting. This works well for me till now.

  • Does anyone know whether it is possible to lubricate the T61 fan with graphite oil so that it runs smoother and less noisy? From the video, it looked as if it might not be possible to get oil into the bit a the centre of the fan.

  • hi..notebookpc...can you tell me the price of this fan....??...

  • @thptquochoc

Hi I bought in ebay. Please try searching for "Thikpad T60 fan"

  • what is that foil material you use at the end to attach the fan?

  • @bittybecky03 It appears to be foil tape

  • @bittybecky03 That is called: Aluminum foil tape.

  • It is called: " Aluminum foil tape"

  • Thanks for the great video. A small plastic piece had fallen into the fan and blocked it.

By following the video as was able to remove the small plastic piece and

    voila ! - problem gone.

  • Thanks so much. Changed the fan on my T41. There are some differences. The original fan casing is made of cast aluminum. To remove it I had to drill out the rivet points. Then to put the new case in, which is made from stamped metal, I had to drill out the holes a bit and grind the edges of the copper heat sink to be able to fit the tabs from the pressed metal fan case in place. But it all worked like a charm. Repair cost me under 20$ in parts (including delivery).

  • Is it not audible? I cannot hear anything.

    Thanks

  • Thanks! Between your video and the manual, I followed directions and replaced the dead fan with a $14.99 model from ebay! It's less noisy than the original fan, and my T60 runs cooler now, too.

PS - I carefully lifted the silver tape only from the fan, and reused it.

  • pps - Don't forget to apply new thermal 'grease' !

  • does this laptop have any empty ram slots plz tell me i want to upgrade my t60 to 3 gigs

  • Just opened up my T60 with this video as instruction. Greased and cleaned fan. The computer is now silent. Thank you!!!

  • what is the silver tape used in the video to seal the fan to the casing? also, would you know where i can get it? thanks much!

  • @thingsssssss

How did you grease it? Which parts? What grease did you use?

    Is the T61 fan identical?

  • which fan do you use ? from t61 or the original t60
