  • Can anybody point me to any video that will teach me a small song without all this triad/cfsdgdgfrte major/ whatever it is this guy is explaining. I never took lessos, I dont know what a C6 chord is, I am filled with anger cause I barely play major chords. I dont get this!

  • @fernandobocadillos jajajajjjajaja tio, fernando bocadillos. Si odias las octavas plutonicas y todo ese triad bullshit entonces dejate la musica directamente!!

  • what gage string do you suggest for a 6 string lap guitar?

  • I use a tuning I got from a stefan grossman guitar book years ago going, D A D F# A B. Great for Hawaiian fake stuff

  • Great demo..thanks

  • Slow down....Let us hear each note.....not so fast

  • yep - tuners batt. flat. Tuned to my keyboards and sounds 'right' - scale length is 221/2 inches - hawaii lap steel length. This tuning C9 has a real 'country' twang. R.

  • OR - I'm using guitar strings I've matched to the right gauge - are lap steel strings diff. to elec guitar strings? thanks again R.

  • @treborif Your guitar's scale length is important, find out what the scale is, that will tell you what gauges to use, and probably explain why strings are breaking, possibly.

I wish I could help you, but I have no idea why this would happen to your strings without knowing more info.

  • I'm using 14 - 56 and the strings are not doubled - although when i do double them the string tension decreases. But thanks for your help - maybe my tuner has flat batteries!

  • Hi - when I tune my (8 string) lap steel to this tuning the strings feel too tight and have snapped. What am I doing wrong? thanks R.

  • I can't stop you, but would highly recommend against doing what you're describing.

  • Good question! Some lap guitars purport to be reversible, but just like left-hand 6-stringers, they're harder to find ... and can come at a premium.

I believe this situation will dictate your eventual playing setup more than anything.

Is it a good thing? The proof will be in your happiness with your output coming through the amp.

    Hope this helps...

    Josh

  • It would help if you might mention string guages.....especially us newby guys Thank you very much.

  • Thanks so much for these lap steel videos. I've owned a pretty nice lap steel for years now and I can't find anyone, even in Nashville!, to teach me some basic lessons.

I'm a drummer and a bass player, and I noodle on guitar, but I really want to just get some basics for the Lap Steel so I can actually start PLAYING it. I have a 6 string Joe Morrell Pro that sounds great out of a Fender amp. Just a shame I can't do it justice yet.

So thanks again, Steel Guitar Mojo for the help!
