well in reality the world is a huge place, yet in the game they make it feel so small. more advantage should be taken of the map to make it seem as a triumph to go from one place to another and to make it seem bigger i think.

i played prussia, took most of Europe and America by chewing up the spanish empire and then turned republuic to keep populations happy... although every other natuion hated me... decided to take the world... when I had I was already well advanced and had good finance... but got bored so I raised the taxes really high and made all nations independant... I am stuck as Germany now but it's been fun watching america go to war with Mexico and Gran columbia and things like that...

i havent played total war since rome 5 years ago - not sure whether to get empire or napoleon - i like the bigger campaign map but i read alot about it being buggy and napoleon being superior quality - alot of people have said once you play napoleon, empire feels half finished.

if your england the best way to defeat france is by conquering first the iberian peninsula in that way you can easily divide and stretch thinly france's forces by attacking them from the english channel and from spain

I'm not great with computer lingo and I didn't look them up but I could run M2TW pretty well on the lowest setting...but I remember when ETW came out every discussion was about the requirements...I guess I remember reading that they were just too much for any non-gaming computer (for the most part anyway)

depends on your taste in tactics if you want to be easily depended go with england but youll find a hard time deploying against france or a larger nation if you want strong millitary and poise to make an empire realy fast go wit france(my fav)if you want an empire already set go wit ottomans,russia or sweden

taking over the caribbean is good fun but the pirates who rules part of it are solid, the rest is fairly easy if you're playing as the British or the Dutch because the French and Spanish never garrison many troops there.

It is important to know that the city you can see are only the capital of the region, you have to conquer them to have the region.

But they are other minor cities in the region, but if you conquer them by putting troops on it, the region doesn't belong to you!

Personally, I think all Total war games are good in their own right. But in some ways I would consider this better then MTW2, what with more technology, more land, sea battles and a load more factions (like 50 in total, including the emergent factions like Scotland and Afganistan)

i have a dell inspiron 1525,and it runs MTW2 and Rome. But in MTW2 it has to have the lowest graphical settings to run smooth, and its choppy in VERY large battles like against the Mongols or in siege scenarios with Huge Cities. But it runs and its playable. Could Empires be run on it or not? If not i have a XP desktop i can upgrade but i dont want to buy a game and than just have it sitting around :/

My computer can run it and its video card is practically shit. If your's can run MTW2 smoothly, then you most likely will be able to run Empire as my computer isn't even overly smooth in MTW2. Empire runs on my comp, albeit somewhat slow, but I still have had fun conquering and haven't felt it to be unbearible

NO, i have the exact computer and the graphics card is way to low to play empire, trust me i have the game and it lagged so bad. Another point is that the graphics card is integrated so it makes it worse. I reccomend getting a new computer with a dedicated graphics card.

I disappointed in this game very much. I played it at difficulty "very hard". The computer is still stupid and stiff as fuck...it has no sense of tactics, practically you cannot form the diplomatic relationships. Almost every nation fights each other, always. It is very unrealistec, beacause the 18th century is not about that. In fact, it was not the age of "total wars", the idea of total war just born at the time of the French revolution.

Oh, and why the Maratha Confed. so fucking awesome?!

There are only 12 playable factions: Great Britain, France, United Province(Holland), Spain, Russa, Prussia(Germany), Sweden, Poland Lithuania, Maratha(Indians), Austria and Ottoman Empire(Turkey). The unplayable factions are very many. But I can say a few of them: Denmark, Pirates, Italy, Genoa, Savoy, Georgia, Mughal Empire, Barbary States and many more i think there is about 50 factions, they have made a mod, but many say the game crash with some factions so wait a bit more for that.=) GL!

I've not got Empire yet, but I imagine its much like the other ones... You can edit the playable factions in the prog files simply by changing them from the 'Unplayable' list to the 'Playable' one. Don't quote me on that though, but its been like that for all the TW games.

Actually, you need to get a mod for it. But its easy and takes like two seconds to get and apply. Then it allows you to do ridiculous things like create a Scottish or Maltanese empire :D

4870 runs its fine at 1920x1080 maxed out

though the main thing you should worry about would be processor and harddrive speeds

it lags like hell with a 2ghz dual core, not at all on a 4.2 ghz quad core

load times are a little long on standard hdd's a veloceraptor hdd or 2 in raid 0 will run it really well and solid state drives are needed to cut the loading down to aound 5-10 seconds

There are 12 playable factions if you count the USA mini-campaign Road to Independence. In the Grand Campaign there is Britain, France, Austria, Spain, Prussia, United Provinces, Sweden, Russia, Poland-Lithuania, the Ottoman Empire and the Maratha Confederacy.

There are also a lot of unplayable ones, but there are mods that lets you play them aswell.

I'm sorry to say that you don't unlock new factions in this game when you conquer factions or win the campaign in Empire. The only way is by using mods.

is it just me or does the campaign map present the most difficult graphical challenge? i have a great computer with a gtx 260, BUT, i have a meteocre processor, because its a strict gaming computer, and the campaign map is pretty darn laggy for me even on the lowest settings, anyone else having this problem? i mean there is just so much content on the 3 cumulative maps its ridiculous! i am just struggling to see how CA can make money off this game when its so demanding you know?!
