damn... i just bought a slim phatty... i wish moog still had the offer of a free cp251 by buying any moog synth... i really want this piece of magic gear! an extra lfo will be great...
@mynmyself the only thing that can be a problem w/ CV is different voltages between manufacturers. Most follow the 1Volt/oct standard set by Moog, but others such as the 70's Korg and Yamaha synths use Hz/Volt. They'll still 'work' if you mix one with the other, but the oscillator tuning will be way off.
great video, like those gritty sounds. I wonder, is this CP-251 will be useful in music whether in live or recording? cos imho it's all about experimental noise. thanks.
@whisperingvenus thanks. if you mount it in a rack it would be stabilized enough for live use. or you could velcro the bottom to whatever surface it goes on.
I've got a custom lighted Stage I, a CP-251, a ring mod, and a phaser. I'm not sure yet when the LP comes back from the factory, though. When it does I'll post a video.
fwiw, i've barely touched on a fraction of what is possible using this combo here. just being able to do stuff like sweep Osc Sync frequencies while also modulating pitch/vibrato - impossible on a stock LP(need 2 LFOs) - makes the LP so much more expressive at lead.
The CP-251 literally turns the LP into twice the synth it was stock, due to the huge increase in timbral & FM range. Not the same power as the Voyager, but wilder in some ways.
I couldn't agree more.. I have a CP, 3 other Foogers and 2 Little Phatties and the CP extends the possibilities to another level. I've never used its full potential though, I usually play with the S&H, LFO, attenuators and multiples but I rarely use the mixer. This video shows me there are loads of unexplored patches and I want to thank you for showing some of them.
Besides the CP-251 I have the Ringmodulator, 12-Stage Phaser and Analog Delay. I'm considering to buy another CP to double the power and fill the rack.. Next up on the Moog list is a Voyager Old School but that might take a while, haha..

hi, i suppose this can be used with any analog synth with CV outputs, right? i am starting on the analog world..

Great video. I've been wondering how to make an LP sound like a Multimoog. You have answered my question. Thanks.

You've got a great video here. Good to see folks exploring with the CP-251.
Much Thanks,

haha my name is angelo too, and this is so sick, i'm planning on getting a cp-251 to complement my moog ring mod

Very nice!
The cp-251 is great, isn't it? Have you used it with your other synths?
Thanks!

hi angelo, thanks...yes, i use it w/ Sherman Filterbank and Juno 6

@shaft9000
_How/where_ did you connect the CP-251 to the Juno 6 and what results did
you get out of it ?
Tryptykon 1 year ago
@Tryptykon
send whatever output of CP-251 you want to use as the modulator to the 'VCF control' input on the Juno. Go nuts.

Nice video, also a great demonstration of the mixer's potential.

WOW, 2 lp's & 3 foogers, eh?
I am 'lagging',heh.
I'm dead set on the ringmod and eventually the delay...maybe even another LPF to run mixes/program material through for stereo.
Diggin' your 'favorites' btw.
